[Boomer]

"How soon?" asked Alessa, looking up at David. Mary dipped her head as they parted ways. She went back to work as David and Alessa left.

[LilacSky]

"At the end of the week, perhaps!" David called. Then he and Alessa walked outside."

[Boomer]

"Oh..." she said quietly. Alessa followed him, but shut her eyes when they had to pass through the ER. She clung to his sleeve so she didn't get lost.

David set the girl into his car and had her buckle her seatbelt. Then they drove home.

[Boomer]

Alessa buckled herself in, then looked out the window. "May I take a nap when we get home?" she asked.

[LilacSky]

"Of course." David parked in front of the house and opened the door for Alessa.

[Boomer]

Alessa got out and carried Scarlett into the house. She looked around for a moment before going to her room. She shut her door, then climbed under her quilt before drifting to sleep.

David had a surge of ideas. He typed them onto his story, and his eyes pricked with tears when he realized he had finished. Now he could publish it and disperse it to the world. He wondered if Mary had ever read his books, or if she knew he was an author at all. He went upstairs to check on Alessa. He felt empty for a moment, having completed his story, but he had an idea for a sequel. He couldn't wait to tell Alessa, if she was awake and if she cared. Next they would finish Alessa's book.

[Boomer]

Alessa stirred as David opened her door. "Huh...?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes. She looked over to David. "Is something wrong?" she murmured, a bit confused.

"No, I just wanted to tell you that I finished my book, and I can draw the people in your book," David said.
