I head to where I heard my daughters voice come from "Don't go without us" I yell to her, expecting her to wait. I make it to the end of the long hall and see her standing 3 steps up an old wooden staircase. "Whats up here mommy?" She askes us. I look to quinn, not sure what "up" was.

I peer up the stairs. Up there was very dark and very old smelling. I wanted to explore, but up looked creepy and felt creepy.

Quinn Shiera
I walked over and peered up the stairs, but all I could see was darkness. "Well, a lot of older houses had secret rooms and passages, and when the realtor showed us the house, they definitely didn't show this. . . I don't think she knows this is here!" I said. "I'm gonna go up," I said, then headed up the stairs, pulling out my phone for light. A few cobwebs hung in my face, and I wiped them away. When I put my phone back up, someone stood directly in front of me. I jumped back with a small shriek, but when I looked back, no one was there. And at the end of the stairs was a closed door.

I hear Quinn let out a small shriek and run up the stairs to meet her. "Are you alright??!" I asked, worried about my friend. Then my eyes fell upon the door. "Should we go in.... Or should we call it a night and go do something for dinner...." I say, my voice trailing off. I was getting creeped out at this point. "I wonder how many "hidden passages" this place has....does it even have a basement..?" My mind was going too fast for me to process.

I looked at Quinn. "Whatd you see?" I knew she saw something.. She can see them too. Mommy can see too if they show themselves to her. "Whats that?" I say, pointing to the door.

I shuddered. "Um, how about we just head downstairs and make dinner? It's getting late, maybe we can check it out tomorrow." I said, taking a step back down the hallway. "I don't know what I saw. . ." I continued softly. Something was going on in this house. . . And maybe we shouldn't have moved here. A cool breeze blew through the narrow stairway and I shuddered again.

I walked up the sidewalk to the house, excited to finally see the inside. When I got to the front door, I knocked lightly, but got no response, so I tried the door and it creaked open slowly. "Man, you guys really gotta lock your doors," I said as I walked in. "Hello?" I called. "Anybody home?" I shrugged. Maybe they're upstairs? I thought. I headed up there. "Salem? Quinn? Are you guys here?" I asked. I heard voices in one of the rooms, and I opened the door. "Finally, I found you," I sighed, only to find I was speaking to an empty room.

A cold chill causes me to shiver as I head back towards the downstairs to the kitchen. Before making my way down the stairs I grab my phone. It was already 6:00pm. "Dang how'd it get this late so quick" I say to myself, keeping a close eye on my daughter as she follows downstairs. I looked at my phone. 2 missed calls and a text from an unknown number. hmm..

"mommy im hungry" I said as my tummy rumbled. I walk to the living room that was beside the kitchen and flop down on the couch, tired and hungry and bored. "Mommy!! Theres a PIANO"

I followed Salem into the kitchen. "So. . . What're we going to make for dinner?" I asked, eager to change the subject. After a moment, I pulled out my phone. My sister should have been here by now. . . I sent a quick text, asking where she was, then looked back to Salem. "If you want, we could run out and get some food. I saw a McDonalds on my way here. Or we could go grocery shopping, get our mind of of things."

After a moment, I heard a little girl say something about a piano. I looked around the empty room once more, then left, looking for the little girl who I'd heard. I headed towards where I thought I'd heard her, and saw a little girl standing in front of a grand piano. "Um, hello? Do you know where Salem and Quinn are?" I asked, hoping she knew. I would've called her, but I forgot my phone in my car.

I nod. "Or we could do both? Go shopping so we have some stuff for tomorrow and just grab some mcdonalds for tonight? I think Cinder would enjoy McDonlads for a change" I say, feeling a bit better with the idea of getting out of the house. I look at my phone and open the missed calls. 1 New Voicemail. I listen to it... "Hey Salem, it's Asher. I miss you. I'll be back in the states soon from deployment. Can we work things out this time? I really miss you. I've done a lot of thinking and growing up. I want to see you and our daughter. If you could give me a call back, *sniff* that'd be great. Love you. " I shake my head, tears threatening to spill. "I gotta go make a call, Ill be back" I say, trying not to let my voice break. I head right outside the front door, needing some fresh air and quiet to think.

"Oh. Uhm... Mommy and Quinn are in the kitchen.. Here ill show you" I say as I grab her hand and lead her through the dinning hall into the kitchen area. "Mommy?" I looked around. She wasn't there but quinn was. "Quinn this pretty girl needs you" I say with a little smile

I looked up at Cinder, afraid it was another of those disappearing people, but instead saw my sister. "Raleigh!" I said happily. "I almost didn't think you were coming! Salem is outside, she had to make a call, and this little angel is Cinder. What took you so long?" I asked. I had been getting worried, Raleigh wasn't one to back out without saying anything.

I smiled when I saw Quinn. "Hey. I've actually been here for a little while. I knocked, buy no one answered, so I came in. I couldn't find you guys, and the oddest thing happened. I heard a voice in one of the rooms upstairs, bit when I looked, no one was there. . ." I said, trailing off as she paled. "What's wrong? Did something happen?" I asked, looking down at the little girl, Cinder.

I sat for a few minutes thinking to myself. I loved Asher. My entire family did. We didn't end on a very good note, I practically pushed him away when he started to lose control on his life. I was trying to protect my daughter and myself from heart ache.. He promised me he'd change. And he promised me he'd show me. And I, in return, promised to let him run back to me with open arms if he could prove it to me. he went into the marines. Got a steady job. Got deployed. And now, he says hes ready to return. I shake my head as tears threaten to fall. I text, knowing I cant make the call without losing it. "I love you.. Can we set up a date soon?" I hit send and slide down the wall behind me, giving away to the tears for a split moment.

I give a small wave and hide my face a little when Quinn introduces me. I look at the new girl with big eyes. "I saw a boy. He wanted me to play. But he disappeared before I could" I say with a sad look

I looked up at Raleigh. "And we also found a secret passage upstairs, one the realtor didn't tell is about." I said, shivering when I remembered the dark figure that had stood in front of me. I was beginning to think the house was haunted, or at the very least we had squatters in our attic.

I frowned and crouched in front of Cinder. "What do you mean, he disappeared. Did he run away, or did he literally disappear?" I asked, both confused and worried. I know sometimes children tend to exaggerate things, particularly the younger ones who sought approval.
