➤Looks: Tired blue eyes and thick, curly, blond hair. He doesn't know what to do with it, so he just lets it fall where it may. He has facial hair that, just like his head hair, he's too lazy to get rid of. He has a smile that slowly spreads across his face and lights up a room.
➤Build: Sam is tall with broad shoulders and a wide stance. He's skinny, has a relatively small amount of muscle, and stumbles if the wind blows too hard.
➤Talents: Sam can draw but he doesn't like to show it to anyone. He can write songs, and he uses it as an outlet sometimes in a book that he's too self-conscious to share with anyone.
➤Fears: Sam over-compensates for his 0verwhelming fear of being alone. He is terrified that he will spend his entire life alone, but he'd never let anyone know that. He feels like his emotions turn people away, and so he tries to just be his snarky, quick-witted self (even if that's gotten him into trouble a few times, too).
➤The unknown scares him, which makes the ocean a place that he doesn't even like to think about. It runs a chill down his spine to think about the things that could be out there, whether they're good or bad, he doesn't care. Count him out.
➤Personality: Sam wants to be a free spirit, away from his worries and his fears, but he feels like he's trapped in his own mind. His need to have attention has dragged him down, and he feels as though there's no way to change himself, to be who he wants to be. He's disappointed in himself, and wants to be "better" because he can't see how anyone could like him the way he is. He's constructed a facade, a "new Sam", who is better than him. He's faster, smarter, more confident and doesn't care what people think. He's confrontational, a hot head, and sometimes just a straight up defensive jerk. It's all an act, though. When his trust is earned, Sam is nothing more than an affectionate, insecure teenager. All he wants is to be loved.
➤History: Sam was raised by a single mother who suffered from migraines. When he wasn't in school, he was sitting quietly in his room, doing anything to pass the time. He occupied himself by drawing his worries away, and writing songs to fill in the silence. He taught himself how to play guitar when he found his mom's old one in their basement, but he was never great at it.
The quietness he practiced in his home, he lacked the same at school. He caused a ruckus, creating trouble for himself, getting the attention he wanted. He acts aloof and sarcastic because it's gotten him the best results. It got him what he wanted.
Now he's on his own in an unfamiliar college setting, and he's been told numerous times that he has to grow up, or he won't make it in the "real world".

Description

Reserved and quite, Elliot watches from the sidelines and listens, wondering
what it would be like to be in another person's shoes for a day; to
experience what they have.
Despite his soft-spoken voice whenever he speaks it's clear what he's asking and demands the attention
of whoever will listen to him.
He often finds himself relying on others due to his shy demeanor but won't hesitate to open up to
others once he is comfortable, in which he becomes a rather bubbly and loving character who can
only hope to cheer up others and let them know he appreciates all that
they do; as well as the company they provide him.

Sam carelessly kicked boxes out of his way as he brought in the last box of his stuff from his car. Or, his mother's car, rather. He set the box down on the ground and flopped onto the empty bed. He hadn't made it yet but couldn't bring himself to care in that second. The door was propped open with a shoe, and he could hear other excited students unpacking and chattering. He took a moment to focus on ignoring his stress from the fact that he'd never lived anywhere but home and he didn't know anyone. He put all of his boxes against the wall because he was getting irritated from kicking them around. Running a hand through his hair, he stepped out into the hallway and began to greet people.

It was a new time for Elliot; a turning page in the book of life for him.
He had carried his boxes of items to his half furnished room, all of them stacked in the areas he planned on furnishing with what was inside. He was happy that the dorms were single-occupation, he wouldn't have to worry about sharing a room with anyone and splitting the already small space in half. He came to this college to pursue a BA in Creative Writing, something he's always enjoyed since he was younger, and even more so after he broke up with his long-term boyfriend Declan. It was an outlet for the quiet boy; he didn't believe so much in sharing how he felt verbally with others. That's how you get hurt.
His eyes scanned the room as he set down the last box, a gentle smile creasing on his lips. He had a feeling he was going to enjoy college, maybe not so much the party scene but meeting newer and better people was something. He thought about unpacking all his stuff now but he decided not to, if anything he just wanted to scope out the people in his building to see if his neighbors were the kind of people to blast music at three in the morning.
The brunette walked out the door of him room and glanced at the hall, watching excited students pass by with their things to move into their dorms. His eyes did fall on a blonde in the room next to his, seeing as the man was greeting people he decided not to speak up.

Sam finished his short conversation with the girl across the hall whose name was Lucy. She seemed sweet enough, and from a glimpse into her room, she seemed extremely organized. It was only the first day, and all of her stuff was already unpacked. Just thinking about the sheer amount of effort and drive that had to take made him tired.
Sam turned away from her, scanning the hall to see anyone who wasn't busy. He saw a few groups of chatting people before glancing to his right. Noticing a dark-haired boy standing alone, Sam turned towards him. A warm smile spread across his face as he stepped a bit closer to the other man. "Hey, I'm Sam."

He heard a voice speak up beside him and Elliot looked towards the source to notice it was the blonde from a few seconds ago. "O-Oh hi!" He greeted with a whisper of a smile on his lips, examining the boy's features momentarily before continuing. "I'm Elliot, and i'm assuming we're neighbors" he said in reference to the fact that their dorms were right next to each other. The boy seemed nice, of course he didn't really know him to make more deep assumptions about him. But it was always best to seem them more positively than negatively, at least that was his philosophy.

"Looks like," Sam nodded, leaning on the wall next to Elliot. Truth be told, he wasn't great at small talk. Meeting new people was annoying because it would be awkward, and it's hard to hold a conversation with someone who he didn't know. Sticking to the basics was easy enough, like the weather, what's your name, how's your family, etc. He wished that he could just skip the first stages of meeting someone and just go straight to casual friends.
After a second of quiet, he asked, "You from around here?" He was hoping he could click with one of his neighbors. He was a bit far from home, about an hour drive, and really had no one to talk to in the building.

His eyebrow cocked slightly at the blonde's question, taking a moment to process it before shaking his hair, brushing back the strands that fell in front of his eyes, "No i'm actually from out of state, Maine to be specific." He thought about going to other colleges in his own state, he could still have the comforts of his high school friends and family if he ever needed the support, but something about this state college in Vermont pulled him in. Maybe he'd eventually find out. "How about you though? I'm gonna guess you're from around here."
