we sensed the air changing, but it wasn’t just the wind… no. this time it felt different, but our human companions didn’t
seem to take notice of it, or ever be bothered by it and simply brushed it off with a "good dog" and a pat on the head as i
f nothing was wrong and carried on with their day to day routines, so we did the same. constantly ignoring our instincts t
o get up and run for the hills, we remained loyal to them, staying far away from severing our bonds to our masters. globa
l warming was always swept underneath the carpet to be dealt with another day, however within the space of a few year
s, things began to make a change. we stayed true to our human companions and what did they do in return? they left, lea
ving anything and everything behind the skidding tire tracks that trailed after them, including their faithful four-legged fr
iends to fend for themselves.
the air was clouded by a dark grey sheet and the sun would rarely pierce its rays through it. the weather got worse and w
orse each week, constant rainfall and storms would play its performance in the sky and on the streets and then that's whe
n the winds began to pick up. the worse was still yet to come, and after the rain began to die down everyone thought tha
t perhaps they would finally feel the sun on their skin and everything would return to normal, but how very wrong they al
l were. ginormous twisting clouds appeared grasping down at the ground, engulfing almost everything in its path. one side
of the monstrous beast was blue skies and silence, whilst on the other it was far from silent, the sky was splashed with an
apocalyptic dust that rained down like hellfire, bringing nothing but devastation and destruction for may have only been f
or a couple of minutes, but for those who were caught in this natural disaster, it had felt like an eternity of pain and suffe
ring.
now the only creatures that exist here are those that were left behind - most of them being dogs, with the odd cat, bird,
fox, other domestic and feral life roaming the streets. some of these dogs were able to adapt to the stray life, where as t
hose who were incredibly spoiled struggled the most. they all ask the same question, leaving it to linger in the silence...
