“treat. you have to treat your scars, keith, or they can get infected or last longer than they're supposed to. scars usually heal over time. shiro probably didn't get his scar treated and that's why it's so red after years.” lance put his hands on his hips, annoying that keith didn't realise this. but he knew it wasn't his fault; lance was always obsessed with his skin. if he got a scar, it would be the end of his life. “come on, i can just put some like, cream on it. you won't even tell that it's there.”

"it's not a scar, lance." he said, crossing his arms again and keeping them firm so lance couldn't uncross them. "yeah, because you definitely have some cream that won't look weird on my purple skin!" he said, looking away from him.

“keith, it doesn't matter what colour your skin is. skincare is for everybody.” lance groaned, and sat down on the ground. he began to dig through his products, humming quietly. “even if it's not a scar, it's galra, isn't it? your skin isn't galra. well, right now it is, but usually it isn't. so it's better to be safe than sorry.”

"yeah, but I'm purple. it's going to be noticable! I'd do it if I were normal, pale Keith!" he said, watching as he rummaged through this things. he folded his ears again as he spoke. "listen, stop it. nothing is wrong." he said, sitting down beside him on his haunches and picking up random things.

“wow, you're the worst. look.” lance flipped open a bottle, squeezing out some of the contents onto his finger. he rubbed it into his wrist, and the cream eventually blended into the skin. “see? it's white, yeah, but you can't actually see it. the stuff i have on my face is a face-mask. you have to see that so you know when to take it off.” he closed the bottle and wiped the rest onto his hands, rubbing it in. he watched as keith began to pick up things.

"fine. just to make you happy," he said, sitting with his butt on the floor and facing him, setting down any bottles or tubes he may have been holding back to where he found them. "but if it looks stupid, you're taking it off my face," he said.

“okay, okay, sheesh.” lance rolled his eyes at keith's dramatic attitude, but smiled afterwards. he wasn't actually annoyed. he squeezed out more contents of the tube, rubbing it on his fingers and then tilting keith's face with his clean hand. he began to apply the cream onto his scar, humming as he worked it into his skin. he sang some of the song Gasolina in spanish, though quietly, as he applied the cream. he was grinning to himself as he sang. once he was done, he rubbed his hands together. “there. can't even see it.”

"okay but if anyone brings it up it's going off my face," he said, putting his arms around his back. he could definitely feel that the cream was there, and he didn't have a mirror to look at it.

“you can't even see it! you're so dramatic.” lance began to laugh, and wrapped his arms around keith. he rested his chin on his shoulder, looking at the side of his face with wide, dreamy eyes. “do you remember when we first met?”

he enjoyed the moment. "okay, i trust you," he said softly, also glancing to his side to meet eyes with him. he sort of froze up. "uh-- sometime in the garrison?" he said, turning to stare at the ground.
