”as am i.” allura spoke, and the rest of the paladins agreed. lance couldn’t help but get a little teary eyed as they shot out of the castle one last time — muttering onto the comms, “see you later, old friend.” and the castle flew into the time warp, blowing up and sealing it as soon as they were a safe distance away. lance turned red to face keith’s lion, his face popping up on their screens. “there’s still the matter of shiro. should we land somewhere?” he questioned.

he knew he would miss the castle, and at some point they'd have to build a new one or.. sometuing. he nodded in agreement to lance's question. "yeah. allura, do you know any safe planets?" he said. they couldn't go and land on some planet that the residents wouldn't want them there.

allura's face popped up after lance's, concerned. "there may be some nearby that are willing to host us. without the castle, i cannot find the closest ones... we will have to see which planets allow us to stay and which do not." she said, and lance groaned. “shiro may be running out of time. we have to find a planet now.” allura quickly spoke of a planet containing oxygen that may be nearby, and led them to it. once they had landed and everyone was out, including shiro, lance spoke. “what do we do with him?”

he nodded in response. "we need to see what we can do to help him. we can't lose him yet," he said, the feeling of wanting to tear up tugging at him but he ignored it. what if shiro was dead? when they landed, keith was helping to carry shiro out of the lion he had travelled in. "allura? do you know anything we can do to help him?" he said, glancing at lance but turning his attention to allura.

"i... yes. i believe so. allura spoke, and lance walked over to help keith set shiro down. allura walked to the black lion, touching it with both her hands and taking shiro’s aura out of the lion. she walked back over to shiro, glowing, and put both her hands on each side of his head. he began to glow as allura transferred his soul from the black lion into his clone body. “what happened when you fought him, keith?”

he was watching shiro and watching what allura was doing to him, hopefully he could be brought back to life. he met eyes with lance while he spoke. "I.. he attacked me. he was trying to kill me. i tried calling for help through the comms but they were scrambled.. i think because the castle had a virus or something. i guess then i just cut his arm off- which was what he was using to attack me- and he fell to the ground," he said, looking away and back at shiro.

“when... when we were connecting as one, i heard him reach out to me. he tried to tell me, but it didn't work.” lance couldn't help but tear up at the realisation. he could have stopped this from happening, couldn't he? “i'm so sorry, shiro! you were my hero, and i couldn't even save you. i should've realised, i just thought, you said, i don't know,” he fell beside shiro, tears coming uncontrollably as allura tried her best to bring him back.

his heart began to hurt, watching lance cry. "lance, buddy, it's not your fault. if it's anyone's fault, it's mine." he said. he didn't know why he was blaming himself, he didn't know what had gone wrong but he blamed himself for it. he walked over to lance, stepping over shiro and sat beside him, trying to comfort him.

“i... thank you, keith.” lance said, quieter, rubbing his eyes. he finally looked at him, a small smile spreading across his face, only to be disturbed when shiro gasped and sat up quickly. lance scrambled back a little bit, before shiro collapsed into keith's arms. “he's... he's alive! shiro's back!”

"you're welcome," keith smiled as he held shiro tightly. "is there anything we can put him in to help him heal? we don't have the castle.. so no crypods." he said, sort of to allura but also to himself. he felt like he never wanted to let go of shiro, but it was nothing like when he would hug lance.
