“right, well... are we just gonna let him go? alone?” lance looked at the other paladins, thinking they'd refuse, but they all just shrugged. keith was closest to shiro, it made sense for him to go. lance stood, though wobbly, avoiding eye contact for a few moments before nodding. “alright, well, keith? can i talk to you? like, right hand to leader, then? privately?”

he looked over to lance. "i don't mind going alone. no one is there to get in the way," he said, glancing around the room as he spoke. "sure," he nodded to lance, offering his arm for him to hold on to.

he took keith’s arm and left the room with him, walking away from the lounging area and further into the hallway before speaking, obviously trying to get out of hearing distance. “look, i know shiro is important to you. he is to all of us, but... most of all you. i understand if you have to do this alone,” he took a breath and met his eyes before continuing, “but you’re not a hero, keith, alright? so... just don’t get hurt, is what im trying to say.”

he followed him, a little confused. he listened as he spoke. "I'd do it with someone else but nobody wanted to. and you're injured so you can't," he crossed his arms. "I'm not going to get hurt. I'll be fine, don't worry." he said, a soft smile on his face.

“i trust you.” he nodded, and leaned forward to give keith a kiss on the cheek. “just be safe.” lance said softly, looking away when he stepped back.

he nodded, glad he trusted him. his heart began to beat rapidly against his chest as lance kissed his cheek. he had mixed emotions about it. he felt like pushing him away and calling him disgusting, but also wanted to kiss him back. "i- i will be," he said, his face quite red.

“there’s something i should tell you, keith—” he was cut off when the other paladins exited the lounging area, looking for the two. he stepped further away and waved to them as they walked over. “we were just discussing the mission. we think keith should go as soon as possible, lance,” said allura, and lance nodded, glancing at keith.

keith was ready to listen to what lance had to say, but instead glanced over to allura and the paladins. "alright. I'll go get suited up and go then." he said, nodding his head slightly before looking back at lance, dying to know what he wanted to tell him.

“come back safely,” lance murmured, and turned to leave. allura took his arm and helped him into the control room, so they could watch keith ascend into his hangar and leave the ship. lance’s worry only got worse.

he smiled to lance before rushing to his room to get on his marmora armour. once he was done he went up to the black lions hangar, and got into the lion and powered him up. "alright, what are the coordinates?" he commed.
