“i'm just curious.” lance replied, voice low, studying his face. he found it impossible and unfair, how keith somehow managed to be beautiful all the time, even when he was finished training and they were only inches apart. “why is it horrible?”

"sometimes life feels like a living hell y'know?" he said, leaning closer into lance. he was so close and he just felt like he couldn't ever let him go. "i guess I'm always in hell," he breathed.

“i don't want you to be in hell.” lance said softly, glancing at his lips, though it could barely be noticed. his eyes only flickered for a second, the ocean spilling into them along with a wave of emotions. “you'll always be safe when i'm here, keith.”

he smiled, pressing his forehead against his chest. it felt comforting for himself in a way. "that's really nice, lance," he said. he decided it was okay to share his softer side with lance.

“that's what i'm here for, samurai.” lance yawned, using a hand to touch and twirl a strand of keith's hair around his finger. “am i hallucinating, or are you getting softer?”

"you're probably hallucinating." he said, liking the touch of his hands in his hair. "I'm not that much of a soft person," he put a hand on Lance's chest, just beside his head.

“you're probably soft on the inside.” lance teased, resting his chin on top of keith's, but made sure not to stab him with the pointy bit. “i'm getting tired now. like, sleepy tired. not dying.”

"then i would suggest sleeping?" he said, cuddling against his chest, running his fingers individually down from his neckline to above his waist.

“probably a good idea.” lance mumbled, closing his eyes. falling asleep was easy, especially with keith with him. in a half awake, half asleep daze, lance mumbled, “love you. g'night.” and before he knew what he said, he was asleep.

keith was smiling as lance drifted off to sleep amazed on how he could sleep so easily. he closed his eyes too, laying in silence. then he heard what lance had said. his heart began to beat faster. "l- lance? you love me?" he said quietly, but the boy was already asleep. keith just cuddled more against him, but reached up to kiss his cheek lightly. lance wouldn't notice, right?
