lance huffed, but didn’t nag him any further. he shrugged, putting his hands on the back of his head and yawning again. ”suit yourself, keith. if you change your mind, you know where to find me. goodnight.” he squeezed keith’s shoulder, then left to go to his room. he sat on his bed once getting there, unsure of what to do. so lance laid down. and waited. he wasn’t sure for what. a knock at the door from keith? maybe. but why was he waiting for keith? lance rolled onto his side, nose scrunching up. he didn’t know.

he sighed. "alright then. g'night, loverboy," he said, watching him walk off. he followed him, but went to his room instead. he lay down on his bed, letting his thoughts overcome him

lance's eyes opened at the sound of allura's voice over the comms. he had fallen asleep, and assumed it was now morning. he felt a little bit rested... but didn't remember falling asleep. lance got up and went to go peel off his facemask, washing his face as he did every morning before putting on his paladin armour and going to the training room, where allura was waiting for them. most of the other paladins had already arrived, and lance was late from washing his face. ”i know, i know, sorry.” he stood beside keith, and crossed his arms. ”what is this about?” he questioned, and allura began. "we wanted to work on more team-building exercises, so we can get used to shiro not being here. i know that keith has had mamora training and that he isn't as reckless anymore, but training never hurts. and it can be bonding! coran is going to set everybody up with a partner. you're going to put these on," she held up something looking similar to a vr set, "and then you'll be in a virtual maze with your partner and you'll have to figure out how to escape with them. any questions?"

he had woken up earlier than the other paladins and had arrived to the training room first. next was pidge, hunk, then finally lance. "you sure did take your time," he said as lance stood beside him. he silenced himself when allura began to speak. he quite liked the idea. "what do you mean im not as reckless anymore, i never was reckless!" he commented under his breath when she finished speaking.

lance groaned at keith's words, turning to him with his eyebrows raised. ”didn't you literally attempt a mission that was doomed to kill you? and split up the team in that weird planet when following lotor?” he accused, poking keith's chest with his finger. "for once, keith, lance is right. your past actions have proved to be reckless for the team. being the black paladin means working together as one and never putting one member of the team, such as shiro, above the others." allura commented, and began to hand out headsets. coran spoke up. "we're putting you together with teammates we feel need better communication. hunk, pidge and allura are all together, and lance and keith are together." lance turned around, huffing. ”okay, that totally isn't fair. they have one more person than us, and why me and keith?! i can go with allura. i think we need way better communication, right, prince─” he was cut off by allura hitting him, though lightly, to not inflict damage. "just put on the headset, lance."

he just ignored them both for the time being. he jaw hung loose in dissapointment. "why am i always paired up with him?" he said, crossing his arms and huffing. he put on the headset, and looked around in the virtual maze.

lance put on the headset, which brought him into the virtual maze. it did look like a maze, and kind of similar to earth. he scoffed, and looked around. they were faced with the decision to start off the maze by going left or right. ”how'd they generate something to close to─ ah! he jumped back, seeing keith beside him, and put a hand on his chest. "don't do that! now, where do we want to go? left or right? i say left, because left is the best way to go."

"what did I even do?" he said, uncrossing his arms. "I say right, because it's always the right way," he says, making awkward finger guns with his hands. "what would happen if I decided to try and kill you in the virtual maze world, would you die in the real life?" he asked out loud.

lance looked at keith slowly, a little scared, but also intrigued. ‟first off.. that's horrifying, thanks. second of all, do you want to fight, like right now? because i'll totally take you on. sharpshooter lance doesn't go down without a fight!” lance put up his fists and stepped away from keith, ready to fight.

"no no no, i don't want to fight, i was just wondering, yknow?" he said, chuckling as the red paladin raised his fists. "well i mean, unless you really want to fight then i guess we can," he says, smirking and also put up his fists.
