marcella nodded and grabbed a slice of pizza. “i don’t know, river. i’m pretty sure pizza is only a short term relationship.” she shrugged, fumbling through the junk drawer. she pulled out an index card. “oh my god..” she murmured as she read it, handing it to river. the mac and cheese recipe

river rolled his eyes at marcella, turning his head as kat came bounding down the stairs for pizza. he bit into a slive, turning his head as marcella spoke. walking over to take the card, his eyes lit up at the recipe. "hell yeah."

marcella grinned. “you have mac and cheese coming your way!” she smiled as she ate her pizza slice. she looked to kat. “i made chocolate cake.” she told her.

river smirked at marcella's words, finishing up his pizza slice. when she mentioned chocolate cake, river scoffed. "i like chocolate." he declared, kat slapping the back of his head. "you like anything."

marcella grinned. “the get a slice too.” she shrugged, a smirk on her face. she suddenly felt exhausted, so she decided to let the two hang out as she trudged upstairs. how could river be exactly right?

river hummed in triumph, moving to the kitchen and getting a slice of the chocolate cake, happily eating the sweet dessert. kat shook her head in amusement before the two began to just talk about random things, kat eventually growing tired and bidding river a good night before heading up the stairs and into her room.

marcella was restless, she she trudged downstairs and warmed up milk, sitting on the couch and sipping it. she didn’t know how river knew how she was feeling.

river laid awake in his room, watching a movie and answering a few texts from some of his old friends. he yawned, checking the time before getting up. he moved downstairs, raising a brow as he saw marcella. "can't sleep?" river questioned as he moved into the kitchen, getting himself some water.

marcella nodded. “i’m exhausted, though.” she shrugged. “dreams are nightmares anyways.” she shrugged again, sipping on the warmed milk. “try meditation! try warm milk! count sheep! it doesn’t work if you don’t want to sleep.”

river listened to marcella, sipping at his water as he moved out of the kitchen and leaned against the wall. "have you thought of seeing a real therapist?" he questioned curiously, drinking from the glass.
