marcella sighed, hearing the shower turn off. she bit her lip. should she go in? she glued her eyes to the tv, as if she was actually watching it. she groaned, running a hand through her hair. she decided to just knock. she hauled herself to his door and knocked again/

river turned his head as he heard a knock, sighing quietly. rising to his feet, he moved to the door after pulling a beanie over his head. twisting the lock open, he pulled the door open as well, glancing down to marcella. "hey." he murmured, turning nad moving to his bed so she could enter the room.

marcella smiled. “hey. i’m sorry about my joke... i tend to.. well, joke around when the mood is tense.” she said quietly, sitting beside him. “are you okay?” she asked.

river merely dipped his head in a short nod, throwing some trash into his trash can. "yeah, i'm okay." he responded, moving his dirty clothes into the laundry bin to busy himself and his mind.

marcella sighed. “river, i know you aren’t.” she stated taking one of his hands. she heard a knock on the door downstairs and sighed, ignoring it, and staring at river.

river huffed at her response, tensing a bit as a knock on the door rang out. "i'll be okay." he then corrected, taking a seat and pulling marcella into his lap. "just let me hold you.. please?" he questioned quietly. kat turned her head as the door was knocked upon, pausing her show and quickly moving to the front door, opening it up with a cautious smile. "hello?"

marcella smiled. “of course, love.” she said quietly, hugging him close to her and planting a kiss on his lips. mark, a middle-aged man, and friend of marcella’s father smiled. “hello. my name is mark. is marcella home?” he asked.

river wrapped his arms around marcella, burying his face into her neck with a soft sigh. kat raised a brow at the man crossing her arms. "she's busy." she stated simply. she was tired of these random older dudes showing up at the house.

mark looked at the girl. “wait... you’re kat! michelle’s daughter. i remember you and marci hanging out at cookouts all the time.” he laughed. “i haven’t seen little marci since her father was sent to prison three years ago!”

kat's eyes narrowed further as he spoke her name, pausing when he continued on. she shifted her weight, observing the man. "she's here.. but she's busy." kat murmured, glancing upstairs before returning her gaze to mark. "is it important?" she asked, not wanting to rip marcella away from river when he was finally just opening up.
