marcella smiled, standing up and limping into the room she saw him go into. she hugged him, giving him a kiss and sitting down in a chair.

river lifted his gaze from his phone to marcella when she entered the room. he smiled, kissing her cheek afterwards and watching her sit down. 'isn't this a fun party?" he joked with a slight snicker.

marcella laughed. "It is when I'm around, babe." She snickered and looked at him, taking his hand. "i love you." She murmured:

river laughed quietly, shaking his head in amusement. listening as marcella spoke once more, he smiled gently and kissed the top of her hand. "i love you, too."

marcella was making pizza for dinner when the doorbell rang. “can someone get that?!” she yelled, pulling the pizzas out of the oven. she wondered who it was, but didn’t want to spend a while going to the door.

river was lounging on the couch, kat in the shower. as the doorbell rang out, he grumbled, but rose to his feet and moved towards the door. he wasn't bald just yet, but his hair was starting to get thinner, so he practically always wore a beanie now. grasping the handle, he tugged the door open, eyes moving to look at the man before his body stilled completely. his dad stood there. alive. river's dad offered a small smile, looking very similar to river. he was quite tall, but had the same brown eyes and hair, even though it was greying. "hey, son." he greeted as river slowly backed away. "you died."

marcella raised her brow as river spoke. she hobbled out of the kitchen and over to the door. she could see the resemblance immediately. “is it a zombie?” she whispered, trying to lighten the mood, which was tense.

river turned his head as he heard marcella, glaring slightly. he knew she was only trying to help, but he didn't want to hear jokes about the father he thought was dead. looking back to john, the man cautiously stepped into the house. "river, i know, i have explaining to do." he began, earning a bitter chuckle from river. he opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off as michelle and kat entered the room, michelle's eyes widening. "john?" she questioned in total disbelief. john gave a small smile. "hello, michelle." he murmured. "i-i thought you were.." she trailed off, john sighing. "i faked it."

marcella raised her arms in defense. “i guess i should let you guys uh... work things out.” she said quietly. “it’s family stuff, and i’m not family..” she walked up the stairs and entered her room, busying herself cleaning it... and listening at the door.

river stared at his dad. faked it? "why?" he questioned, his gaze not leaving the man that was his father. john sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "i couldn't deal with it all. i needed a fresh start... a better start." the man spoke, river laughing in disbelief. "you had a son!" he spoke, fists clenching. "i saw you.." river trailed off, shaking his head. "i saw you and the blood. it looked real." he hissed, his voice beginning to crack a bit, causing kat to frown deeply. "i looked up to you! and you just left me! you left me with parents who don't give two craps about me!" he yelled, not even bothering to hide the pain in his voice, his lip slightly trembling. "get the hell out." river hissed, before storming into his room and slamming the door. clicking the lock so it stayed shut, he turned and slammed his fist into his bed.
