When a carefree, party-going alien prince gets into some serious trouble, his parents decide to arrange a marriage between him and another Royal in hopes of "straightening him out". When the young prince finds out, he refuses to marry a complete stranger and turns to his longtime friend and guard/ warrior for help. The two run away together in hopes of avoiding the wedding, though it may not be very easy when the whole kingdom is looking for the missing prince.

This is a roleplay between myself ( rubyrocketboots13) and Wolfe. Please don't post unless you're one of us <3

The Royal Guard; Vitis

Postby Wolfe » Sat Jun 30, 2018 4:00 am

Image
                Name: Vitis
*She has no last name, like most of the soldiers in her garrison. Most don't even have real names, only numbers. Vitis is one of the luck ones to be able to keep her birth given name.
Alias/Nicknames: "V" by most of her peers, except by her superiors. "Vivi" by her close friends (if you're not in her inner circle and call her this, she will probably clock ya right in the jaw.)
Age: Appears to be in her early twenties, perhaps twenty-three.
                Gender: Female
                Sexuality: Straight/Hetro
Rank: Warrior/Soldier/Guard for the Royal Army

Powers: Flight, somewhat enhanced strength/speed, energy manipulation (can form small orbs of violently green plasmoids that can be used in battle, can also somewhat heal with this ability if it is focused correctly.)

                Appearance:
                - Eye Color: Hazel
                - Hair Color: Brunette/dark shade of brown that is almost black
                - Build: Mostly made up of lean muscle, unlike most of her peers. This gives her an added edge in agility as she doesn't have bulky muscles to slow her down. However, this also makes her not as strong as her male peers in this field, but she still holds superior strength over most who have not had proper training as a warrior.
                - Skin Color: Olive skin with no psychical natural blemishes or markings on her body. Though, may sport a few cuts, scraps, or bruises from rigorous training. Nothing that can't be easily healed.
                - Height: Average, around 5'7"

Vitis isn't all that fancy when it comes to her attire. Why would she be? She can usually always be found sporting the Royal armor of the royal guards or in some form of sports bra and spandex shorts for training purposes. Rarely does she ever go out to any kind of fancy get-togethers, but on the rare occasion that she does, or is invited to attend an affair without the status of a soldier, she may wear a dress. May, is the key word here. She can't stand all that floaty, stiff fabric and would much prefer to walk around in a tank top and a pair of shorts, despite what others might think.

Personality: Vitis could be considered a loud, brash, heavily opinionated young lass by many of her peers and superiors. She has to be. Being in a field that is dominated by men, Vitis has had to learn how to act just like them in order to get their attention and stand out among the throng of testosterone raging, muscle bound, meat heads she usually spends all her time with. She isn't easily pushed around either and will quickly state her opinion if she feels someone is trying to pull the wool over her friend's eyes. Despite coming off as boyish in nature, Vitis can quickly shift and be the most flirtatious being one has ever laid eyes upon. Now, really, how did you think she manages to stay sane cooped up with annoying men for that long? A gentle bat of the eyelashes, a soft peck on the cheek, maybe even the simple twist of a finger through hair and she can make most any man, well, a stupid one, do exactly what she wants. This is something she never uses on her friends and mostly on strangers or her peers. There is times, however, where she is completely out of character. A quiet, reserved, nearly ashamed side of Vitis that she only ever lets one person see. Her father. She has done everything, and I do mean everything, to try and earn her father's favor, his love. It is something the man has never given her, and despite the fact that she should give up on him, she can't. He's her father and she strives to prove to him that, even if he wanted a son, she can be more worthy than any man.

Traits(+): Loyal, courageous, strong sense of perseverance, reliable, disciplined
Traits(-): Brash, loud, opinionated, insecure (especially when her father is concerned), impulsive

                Likes & Dislikes:
+ Being able to train and hone her skills so that she can become stronger.
+ Food. She loves to eat and seems to have a bottomless pit for a stomach.
+ Animals, especially dogs, horses, and reptiles (or whatever the equivalent in this alien world).
                + Music & dancing.
+ Reading, though she rarely ever has time to do it.

                - Thunder or extremely loud noises that catch her off guard.
                - Idiots.
                - The stench of gross, sweaty men after a day of training.
                - Wearing dresses.
                - Her father, even though she is constantly seeking his approval.
                - Stuffy, pampered royals that try to tell her what to do, even if they have the right to, they are not her Captain.

It was just another day. Another day that started out like every other. Training, training, and more training. That was her life and had been since she had turned eighteen. There had been only one reason why she joined the military. Most said it was a stupid reason, but it was one that had always been justified in her mind. She did this, all of this, to gain the approval of her father. The man wasn’t even all that special. He wasn’t even a noble. Just some middle class scum that thought his daughter was a piece of trash because she had been born female. She was treated like dirt. Actually, worse than dirt, and still the young woman tried her hardest, every single day, to prove that she was just as good as any man. The years she had been under the watchful eye of her captains, under the scrutinizing eyes of her peers, not once in the five years she had been stationed as one of the Royal Guards had her father come to visit. The last she had even heard of him was that he had remarried after the sudden death of her mother and finally, finally he got exactly what he wanted; a bouncing, baby boy. It shouldn’t have mattered, really. She should have been ecstatic to know that she had a sibling. Even if he was only half related to her by blood. Sadly, the fact of the matter was, she felt horrible. Horrible that her own flesh and blood father wanted nothing to do with her. Didn’t even want to talk to her. The brunette felt she deserved something as simple as a ‘Good job, Vitis’ or… or… something.

Vitis wouldn’t hold her breath. If being placed within the Guard had taught her anything, it was that she could only rely, truly, on herself.

Leaving the training yard, Vitis marched her way to the barracks, which wasn’t too far away. Probably a couple hundred feet, at the most. The entire facility for the Guards was located within the palace walls, securely tucked within what should have been one of the many enormous gardens spanning across the property. It still held much of what could be considered naturely. Still sported a few blooming shrubs and trees fenced off and on display, but most was definitely used constantly. Constant foot traffic could be made out by the numerous dirt paths that littered the entire area instead of patches of plush grass or lively flowerbeds. Small tents were strewn throughout the grounds, each one bolstering the royal insignia, along with dozens upon dozens of training dummies, weapons racks, and targets. Nothing completely special and, as it were, most of this stuff was outdated anyways. With the huge advancements in technology lately and the untapping of abilities among most of the two races that called this planet home, a lot of this stuff was just there, sitting around and collecting dust. Most training, weapon-based, was done in the giant dome-like structure that sat in the Northwest corner of the yard. It was basically a holographic generator that pitted warriors in many different situations with rather realistic battle scenarios and beasts from across the galaxy. However, it was not capable of containing Vitis’ kind of power. Energy manipulation seemed to be a very uncommon trait among her people, even rarer among the race the considered themselves royalty, and it could be highly dangerous when not trained properly. That’s why she had a special teacher and a class that consisted of two other men. That was it. Those were the only three people, other than herself, that could control energy of inanimate and animate things and bend it to their will in the form of colorful plasmoid orbs. And, as few as that number was compared to the thousands upon thousands of guards that called the castle, and the surrounding city, home, she was the only one that could somehow pull back the energy enough to heal others. ‘A special gift from the Gods’ as her mentor called it.

Bah! An unwanted nuisance was more like it. All that meant was, in a tight situation with her squadron, during a real battle, she would be the one being forced to heal her peers instead of using her skills on the battlefield. A waste of her talent, if you asked her.

Boot-clad feet scuffed up a small set of stone steps leading into the barracks. Vitis didn’t have to do anything. The structure may appear to be out of an old medieval storybook, but as she neared the doors they opened up automatically for her. A blast of icy air smacked right into her face that contrasted greatly with the warm, mugginess that was outside. It set her body into brief shivers, but it wasn’t enough to give the young woman any pause. The barracks was alive with soldier upon soldier. The constantly babble of chatter seemed to reverberate and echo off the tall walls and vaulted ceilings. Despite the constant buzz of whispers there were also the sounds of plates and cutlery and the smells of cooking food wafting about the hall. To most, especially the Royals, who did rarely step foot in this place to speak with the Captains about how their soldiers were doing, it was much too loud for their pampered earbuds. However, to Vitis, this was home. This, and everything about it was welcoming and warm, and despite having to share close quarters with men, who could be very annoying at times, she wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. However, just before she was about to exit the main throng of the crowd someone called out to her.

                “Vitis!”

The voice was an all too familiar one. It belonged to only one man and that was her Captain, Taibbel. He was a giant of a man. He towered over all his soldiers by nearly three and a half feet and could be described as being as big as a mountain due to all the thick, bulging muscles that covered his frame. Though, as both alien species that called this planet home, and did look fairly humanoid in nature, Taibbel was completely different. He was covered in what looked like leathery, pale skin and his face was rounded and rather elongated towards the back, and void of any hair. Instead, a few scute-like bumps pushed off the top of his skull. He had no real visible nose, and to Vitis, his facial structure always seemed to be quite fish-like in appearance. Though, she also heard things like he looked like his mother was a frog, snake, or even a worm. Though, to be fair, this was all from people who were PO’d at him for getting on their case about not doing something according to the book. He even had cute little pointed ears that were angled backwards with large, rounded black eyes. Even his teeth were bizarre. Instead of flattened chompers, all of Taibbel’s were sharp and pointed, and there were times Vitis could have sworn to the Gods above that they were serrated, like a shark’s, but then she didn’t stare for too long. She was smart and did not dare incur the wrath of Captain Taibbel.

“Yes sir?” Vitis replied. She had to quickly veer off the path she had been taking, one that would of led her up a winding staircase to the showers, but now she was standing as tall and straight as she could before her commanding officer, awaiting orders.

“As you know, today is a special day amongst the royals.” Taibbel began. To which, Vitis gave a curt nod of her head. How could she not know what today was. The palace was buzzing with music and the smells of cooking meats and breads. Today was one of the many times the upper crust got together, despite political differences, and mingled. Not that Vitis cared. She couldn’t even remember what they called today. Something to do with food, she was certain. Besides that, it was meant to be fancy, pompous, over the top party with foods from all over the planet, even having somethings that were even considered a delicacy for this planet. And dancing. Gods. All the dancing. Oh, and what was worse than that? The clothing! They made sure to wear masquerade style masks, each one delicately inlaid with gems and jewels that twinkled and caught the light. Vitis always assumed it was to blind their enemies with as many crystals were placed on these masks, but it was something she never had spoken out loud to anyone. But, what was even worse than the masks were the dresses. The men’s clothes she could deal with. They looked regal and handsome, well, most anyways, in their tailored suits made of fancy, sleek fabrics. The women, on the other hand, were always in such obnoxious gowns. Ones that were tiny on the top with a corseted bodice that only flared out into this huge poof of stiff, layered fabric that made the brunette want to gag. There came a faint mumbling sound, one that Vitis realized was her captain talking. Her hazel eyes widened, but only just, as she pulled herself out of her stupor and placed her full attention back on Taibbel. The young soldier had totally spaced out on almost all of her superior’s conversation, but it would appear as if he hadn’t noticed a thing, as he was constantly shifting his gaze about the room, keeping tabs on all his men. “You were ordered, by name, to keep an eye on our young prince, Oliver.” he continued, large black orbs slightly squinting into a glare, “I doubt he will be any trouble. The boy seems very well behaved. Never known him to get into even an ounce of mischief. This should be an easy task for you.” He clapped one of his scaly hands on Vitis' shoulder, pointed nails digging slightly into her bare shoulder.

“Oh, of course.” Vitis chuckled, “Ollie…” and she paused. Whoops! She caught the look that spread across her captain’s face. One of utter shock, also there was a small bit of amusement lingering there as well over the nickname she had used for their prince. “Errrr.... I mean, Prince Oliver will be no trouble at all, sir. I will make sure he keeps his nose clean and no trouble befalls him.”

“I knew I could count on you, Vitis.” Taibbel laughed as he removed his hand from the girl’s shoulder and allowed it to fall lazily to his side. “You’re dismissed.” he stated. The two turned to part ways before he called her back. “Oh, and Vitis,” he began, a small grimace tugging at the corners of his lips, “perhaps take a shower first. I’d hate to have one of my soldiers showing up to their post smelling like they just stepped out of a manure farm.”

Vitis gave a quick nod of her head and bolted. If she knew the royals, they would want their son to be guarded from the time the festivities started until it ended. As she rounded the corner and began to head up the stairs leading to the barrack’s interior bathhouse, Vitis lifted up one of her arms and took a giant whiff. She didn’t smell that bad… did she? Oh well. It didn’t take the brunette that long to get clean and pull on a pair of the usual guard armor and head back out the barracks. She didn’t have time to waste. With a swift look over either shoulder, Vitis took off into the air, coming to land on the one balcony she knew she wouldn’t get reprimanded for or being yelled at and called a snoop. The large archway was always open, though the deep red curtains were still pulled shut, and that could only mean one thing; Ollie was still asleep. It was still fairly early in the morn. Perhaps being a soldier had its perks. Getting up with the suns was never a problem there. Pushing open the velvet curtains and tying them back to let in some of the morning light from the massive double suns, Vitis cleared her throat, “Oy! Ollie! Wake your lazy butt up!” she yelled as she crossed the room to the prince’s over-sized bed and pulled the covers off his head, “You’re mum and dad want you up and attending this party… thing with them. You can’t keep them waiting.” She tucked a few dark strands of hair behind her ear as she began to have a little looksy around Oliver’s room. It always amazed her how much stuff was in here. It also always amazed her how much space he had for just himself. His chambers were nearly the size of the entire barracks, itself. “Oh, and I’m your body guard for today. Isn’t that fun?” she asked playfully, giving a slight roll of her hazel eyes as she crossed the room to stand before a desk, and began to poke at one of the glimmering golden trinkets that happened to be on display there.

Oliver whined in protest as Vitis woke him up by pulling the silk comforter off of his head. Without opening his eyes, he rolled over and pulled the silk comforter back over his head. " Come on, Vivi, be a sport! I wanna to sleep in today." He said, his voice muffled by the sheets and pillows covering his head. Controlled by Oliver's telekinesis, the thick velvet curtains snapped themselves back shut, darkening the room once again. The young prince gave a contented sigh and buried himself deeper in his pile of warm pillows and blankets. " Not everybody likes getting up with the suns the way you do!" Ollie said feigning an annoyed tone, though the effect was ruined by his amused chuckle. "Still, you know I can't resist a good party nor a chance to spend the day with my favorite bodyguard." Oliver knew there was no way of getting out of the day's festivities; his parents had made it very clear that he attend the elegant soirée, even going so far as to assign Vitis to make sure that he didn't "accidentally" forget about the party or slip away. Though, he wasn't sure exactly why it was so imperative that he be there, usually his elder brother Cayden handled the Royal presence at these types of political balls. Oliver had noticed how the King and Queen had been very secretive about the festivities during the weeks of preparation, though he had paid little mind to it. After all, he had been planning on shirking his royal duties to attend the ball to sneak away and go out with a few of his less-than-savory friends. However, the impetuous prince didn't want to disobey his parents direct orders after the political fiasco he had been involved in just a few weeks before. The papers had been filled with countless wild rumors of a scandal involving the young prince and an unnamed, "supposed" suitor. Of course, Oliver had denied everything, but it didn't seem to quell the ridiculous gossip and the scandal still looked very bad for the Royal family's reputation. Ollie was going to spend a lot of time making up for his mistake; starting with being on time for a royal event for once.

Sighing heavily, Oliver threw off his covers then rolled out of bed rather ungracefully. Even with his messy bed hair and sleepy-eyed expression, the prince was undoubtedly a very handsome young man. Like much of his race, Oliver was lean and lithe with delicately angled features. His skin was as smooth and pale as freshly fallen snow, except of course for the freckles sprinkled across his cheeks. Though somehow, the prince didn't exactly fit the elegant "royal image". Despite his best efforts to look sophisticated, Ollie was rather boyish in appearance; his impish grin and bright, cheerful eyes made him look much younger than most twenty-year-olds. One thing was for certain though- the prince always dressed his best, no matter what the occasion.

Oliver rummaged through his closet as Vitis began looking around his room. His bedroom was very lavishly decorated, like the rest of the palace. Much of the gilded furniture was most likely a couple centuries old and no detail was too small to overlook. Even the legs of the desk had beautifully carved decorations on it and the dark velvet curtains had been delicately embroidered. Though, most of the beauty of the room had been blemished a bit from all of Ollie's things scattered about the room. Fabrics and unfinished garments lay draped over a lot of the furniture; sketches of new outfits were pinned on pretty much every inch of available space on the walls. Oliver refused to let any of the staff clean up the room, though the rest of the palace was always kept in spotless condition.

Under the princes' telekinetic control, a different outfits hovered in the air as he attempted to pick out which one he wanted to wear. " What do you think of this one for the party?" , He asked, holding up a sleek, yet masculine-looking navy three piece suit with a matching blue and silver mask. The mask, which Oliver had made himself, had been inlaid with dark blue sapphires. " Or do you like this one better?" He asked, levitating a deep wine colored suit paired a white shirt and dark blue tie. He searched through his closest, levitating mysterious looking sliver mask out. Oliver frowned, tapping his chin in deep thought as his choice would determine the fate of their planet. " Perhaps an elegant black suit and a nice mask might be better? After all, less is more sometimes and I don't want to look pretentious " He hummed slightly, turning to look at Vitis. What do you think?" Oliver asked. He valued her opinion tremendously, though he knew that she didn't love fashion as he did. Vitis's view on fashion seemed to be in direct contrast with his own. Ollie loved flamboyant, beautiful clothes, while Vitis seemed to prefer simpler clothing and her armour. Oliver would have given nearly anything to give Vitis a makeover and dress her in a beautiful gown just once, but he respected the young warrior too much to suggest it.

" I think I like the blue one the best", He remarked, deciding finally. Oliver made a motion towards the large walk-in closet and the other suits levitated back into the closet, hanging themselves back in their proper place. He took the blue suit and flashed one of his familiar crooked grins at Vitis. "I'll just be a minute getting ready so make yourself at home. After I'm finished, let's go get some breakfast?" He suggested hopefully, " I don't know about you, but I'm starved!". Oliver cheerily hummed to himself as he disappeared into his personal bathroom to get ready. After scrubbing his face and attempting to brush his unruly hair, Oliver slipped into his dark blue suit. Once he was finished getting dressed, he stepped back into his bedroom. " How do I look, Vivi? Distinguished? Radiant? Ready to rule my father's kingdom?" He chuckled warmly, his light blue eyes sparkling mischievously. As usual, Oliver was almost annoyingly cheerful. His optimism and pure joyfulness was infectious, even this early in the morning. Perhaps it was his empathic ability to transfer emotions into other people, but he seemed to radiate positivity wherever he went. Oliver playfully smiled at Vitis, teasing her good-naturedly " Come on,my noble knight in shining armor, let's get some breakfast, huh? "

The brunette could hear the ruffle of a body under blankets as the young prince began to stir, but that did not deter her from setting off about the room to become fascinated with another trinket of Ollie's. He had so much. It was beyond the young woman how he could ever keep up with everything. She had always been somewhat enamored with all his designs tacked up upon the walls and all his other knickknacks that littered the room. It took a few more minutes of reluctant rummaging around before the prince actual spoke, and as Vitis turned, she couldn’t help but give what she saw a half smile. As much as his antics should have annoyed her, the soldier found most of Ollie’s personality humorous, even if she didn’t let it show most of the time. She wouldn’t be a very capable guard if she was floored by everything the prince did every second of the day, especially in his presence. She had to keep some sense of composure about her. To be stoic, even when she wanted to laugh, because that was a part of being taken seriously in this line of work. It didn’t take Ollie long to throw the covers back over his face, only to speak in muffled sentences about not enjoying the fact that he had to get up so early. Despite having his head shoved back under the silken covers, there was a very noticeable edge to his voice, one that caused Vitis to chuckle. Oh, he could try and play mean all he wanted, but it was a little known fact that it was hard to anger, or even upset, Prince Oliver. Except, there was one thing that made the young woman jump. She hadn’t expected the room to grow increasingly dark when the curtains snapped shut on their own volition.

“Ollie…” she grunted, stepping away from the ornately crafted desk and striding back across the room to pull open the velvet curtains once more. “Listen, darling, as much as I would love allowing you to sleep in, I also don’t want to get chewed out by your dad or…” she paused, paling at the very idea, “Or your mum. That woman is scary when she’s angry. I saw her yelling at one of my superiors the other day… I’ve never seen that made so scared in my entire life.” It was true. The Queen, who was mostly a very understanding, caring, quiet woman, was known to most because of her attitude when she got angry. And today was not a day for the Queen to get her panties in a bunch. Things had already grown out of hand when rumors were spread about Oliver. How angry she got. Despite even if the rumors held some truth, no one, and I do mean no one, would be squandering the prince’s name while she was still alive and breathing. Even if Ollie’s name was cleared and the rumors were stated to be false, that did not stop the spread of them. Like a disease they twisted and coiled throughout the kingdom until most every citizen of the city knew a version of what had happened. Things were settling down though. Within a few months, all rumors of what Ollie had done, or versions of it, would be replaced with something new and, thankfully, laid to rest.

Vitis was thankful that after a few more moments of restless lying in bed seemed to wake the prince up and she didn’t have to do something more drastic. And, she would, if she had to. Like drag him right out of bed. It probably would have ended with her hoisting him right up and throwing him over her shoulder, which would ultimately lead to fits of laughter. The guard turned her back on the boyish-faced prince as he pulled himself out of his luxurious bed and walked the short distance to his wardrobe. It was quite unbecoming to look at royalty in their pajamas, of course. That was when she really averted her gaze from what he was doing and turned back to poking at the golden statuette on the desk. Her hazel eyes gave a very small, simple roll when she heard Ollie’s questions. She wished he had just picked something to wear and be done with it. But, no. He had to involve her, didn’t he? Vitis slowly turned, leaning back against the desk as she folded her arms across her chest. Her head slightly tilted to one side as he began to pull outfit after outfit from his closet. To a normal human being, watching as fancy suit upon fancy suit float out of the prince’s wardrobe would have left them with opened mouths and wide eyes, but Vitis had seen this done hundreds, thousands, millions of times. Telekinetic power was as normal to her as the news on TV. She remained silent, trying very hard to decide which would look better on him. Again, she was grateful when he chose before she even had the time to open her mouth. Though, she did have to admit, she preferred the blue suit too.

As Ollie promised he wouldn’t be too long changing into his new clothes, Vitis’ mood perked at the prospect of food. “Breakfast sounds lovely.” she admitted. Truthfully, she had already had breakfast. First and second breakfast to be exact. This would be her third breakfast and, at the very thought, her stomach rumbled in protest. How someone as small as she could keep her figure was beyond anyone. The girl seemed to have a black hole for a stomach. Literally. She could constantly eat and eat and eat and never ever seemed to get full. The more she waited there, using the desk as added support as she continued to lean against it, her stomach seemed to growl louder and louder, as if urging the prince to hurry up. It didn’t take Ollie all that long, but tell that to the soldier’s grumbling tummy. As he exited his private bathroom, Vitis pushed herself off the desk and closed the small gap between herself and the prince, so that she was now standing only a few feet before him. She reached a hand out, brushing a stray dust bunny from his shoulder. “You look handsome, my prince, as always.” she said with a small laugh, “Though, isn’t that your brother’s job? I don’t think I could ever picture you ruling your own kingdom.” This was all in jest, of course. With the proper training and discipline, Oliver could be a very noble, wise, and caring king. Just, it was not wise to ever think of him sitting upon the throne at such a young age. Not yet, anyways. Besides, it truly was his brother, Cayden's place if something ever happened to the king, unless young Ollie was married off to another kingdom in hopes of strengthening ties between two feuding political houses. Pushing all that nonsense aside, a large smile pushed up the corners of her lips at his next set of words. “Oh, you know me so well, your highness.” she teased, as her stomach let out another loud roar. Without hesitation, Vitis strode passed Ollie and pushed open his door. “Shall we?” she questioned as she held open the door for her prince. Perhaps, later on, she could sneak away and sample some of those foreign delicacies she had heard so much about. Just the thought set her stomach rumbling again, albeit, more quietly than before.

Oliver shivered slightly as Vitis mentioned his mother; he definitely did not want to anger the Queen, especially after everything that had happened with the vicious rumors. He was still in plenty of hot water after that little incident, which was all the more reason for him to hurry downstairs to join the rest of the Royal family in the festivities. Oliver hoped that he could remedy his slightly marred reputation by being extra careful to be on his best behavior and avoiding any bad press. Truthfully, Ollie wasn't terribly worried about the false rumors that had been spread about him. Everyone knew the papers were all filled with half-truths and blatant lies. Besides, things would calm down soon enough and the kingdom's subjects would find something else to gossip about. Perhaps Cayden would do something heroic, like save a baby or establish total peace on the planet. Why couldn't Ollie be more like his Oh So Perfect Older Brother? If the young prince had a shred of Cayden's discipline and obedience, then perhaps he wouldn't have gotten into trouble in the first place. Still, they couldn't change the past; Olive would have to work to regain his good reputation back, starting with making a good appearance at the Royal soirée.

The prince gave a warm laugh at Vitis' remark, his eyes sparkling amusedly as she mentioned how frightened her superior had been. " Mother is pretty frightening when she's angry! She's a veritable tiger , " He chuckled warmly as he attempted to smooth out his hair, "Which is all the more reason to make her happy by being on time for once!" . Oliver's mother was a very beautiful, unusually tall woman with an undeniable aura of power and elegance about her. The Queen was a very kind, compassionate person, though she was downright terrifying when she was angry. She, like Oliver, had empathetic powers- which meant she could literally strike fear into people who people who opposed her. It was a rare ability, but the Queen had clearly mastered the skill. One cold look from her could send grown men running away in terror. Though thankfully, she rarely used the ability and was generally a gentle, good-tempered woman. Still, Ollie didn't want to upset his mother on today of all days. His parents had made it very clear that the day's festivities must go smoothly.

Fiddling with his suit once more, Oliver was finally satisfied that he looked presentable. Perfect He thought, flashing a smile at himself in the mirror. Ollie wasn't a very prideful guy, but he always made an effort to look his best at every occasion. The young prince turned back to Vitis, chuckling as she complimented him. " Why thank you," He said, with a slightly dramatic bow, "" And I must say, you look as ravishing as ever! You took a bath, didn't you?" He said playfully, teasing her good-naturedly. Oliver's eyes sparkled merrily as he chuckled, " Yes, I suppose you're right. I know I certainly wouldn't want myself ruling the kingdom. Imagine how fast chaos would descend upon our beloved nation! He said a feigned dramatic tone, clutching his hands to his chest. Oliver fell into a fit of laughter at himself, though he soon regained his composure. " It is pretty outlandish to think that I could ever rule my own kingdom. I must say, Cayden is much more qualified than I. " He said, an amused smile still tugging at the corners of his mouth. Oliver was a very kind-hearted guy and he was very good with people, but he was no leader yet. The young prince still needed to gain a bit more maturity before he could even think about taking his father's place on the throne. But, now wasn't really the time to worry about that; the king was still young and in perfect health= he would most likely be ruling the kingdom for years to come.

Turning his attention back to Vitis, Olver noticed how she admired the trinkets that decorated his room. Each of them had been crafted by the finest artisans from all over the planet. Ollie had always been fascinated with travel and curios from faraway lands, though he rarely had the chance to actually explore them for himself. The young prince had nearly always stayed within the walls of the city and he had always been accompanied by at least one or two guards. Truthfully, he would have given anything to go out and explore the entire kingdom for himself- with Vitis of course. Oliver didn't want to leave his best friend if he ever got the chance to travel the kingdom. But, as he looked back at his guard, he was reminded that it was just a childish fantasy to want to explore; he was a prince with important Royal duties and Vitis was a warrior, she had responsibilities as well. They couldn't just drop everything on a whim and traverse the kingdom. Ah well, maybe someday we can go exploring together, Ollie thought, holding on to the perhaps childish hope. He walked over to Vitis to look over her shoulder at the trinket she was inspecting," Like it?" He asked with his familiar crooked grin, " I got it as a gift from my uncle on my last birthday; I can't for the life of me think of what it's supposed to be." He picked up the small, boxy tricket to look it over. The outside of the box was plated with gold and inlaid with emeralds and sapphires. " I believe it's supposed to be a puzzle box? Or a jewelry box? Or maybe a lighter? I'm not sure, but if you like it, you can have it" the prince shrugged, offering the box to her with a smile.

Oliver beamed as Vitis agreed to getting some breakfast with him. After all the years he had known the stalwart warrior, he had never known her to turn down food. As he heard Vitis' stomach growl loudly, the blue-eyed young man gave a warm laugh. " Let's go get some food before you waste away! Come on, let's go see what the kitchen's have to offer." Oliver chuckled warmly, walking out of the bedroom with her. As he led the way through the bustling castle towards the kitchen, the young prince greeted the staff cheerily, just as he did every morning. Oliver was well-known for treating all people kindly, regardless of their status or race. Though the prince had many faults, he was a very altruistic young man.
