Nora nodded but then frowned. "My mother was the kindest person I knew..." She swam with the mermaid and bt her lip. She was hurting mentally. It was so hard to talk about her mom, especially after years of never talking about her. She warmed up and coughed a bit. She always had a cold so she was always coughing no matter what. She looked around at the many fish around them."Beautiful..."

Aspen's features were sympathetic as she spoke about her mother, glancing over to Nora, then following her gaze to the various saltwater fish. A smile tugged at her lips. "If there's anything I can ever do for you, please let me know." It seemed out of the blue, but the mermaid felt that she had put her through so much hardship just trying to help, so she wanted to make up for that somehow. Ahead, a small island came into view. The side that faced them had a few small openings in the rocks that led to a small lagoon. It harbored a sandy beach that led back into the trees. After glancing to Nora, she flashed another smile and led them to the surface, releasing her hand. Lifting her head above the surface, Aspen pushed back her hair and gazed upon the lagoon as she headed towards it.

"have you ever been on land?" she asked out of nowhere. she swam up to the surface and breathed in the fresh air. she coughed and held herself up with the help of a rock nearby. she shivered but soon felt warm by the sun shining down on her back. "do you like me?"

The mermaid followed Nora over to the large shelf of rocks, crossing her arms over each other and resting them above the water on their surface. She mulled over the questions that had been asked. "I have a little, but just along the shoreline and not for too long." Aspen glanced towards the shore of the lagoon as she spoke, her gaze sparkling in thought. "Of course." The second question was answered very simply, but she meant it. "Why else would I still be here?"

"i don't know." she murmured and sighed. ''i can bring you on land... oh and is there any way for you to 'grow' legs?'' she asked softly and rubbed her neck. she swam to shore and sat in the water once it was shallow enough. ''no one is here, join me?''

Aspen followed her, using the palms of her hand to help her move though the shallow water. She settled a few feet beside Nora, looking out to the opening of the lagoon. The waves were still rougher than average due to the storm, but it was much calmer here. "I've heard of other merfolk trading their tail for legs, but I'm not sure how they did it, or how long it lasts." Her voice was quiet, uncertain.
