After a storm raged over the ocean one night a
merman founds himself trapped on shore, battered
by the waves and stuck in a form he doesn't
know how to use. Found by a human he
must accept the help offered to him or be
stuck in a world he doesn't understand.

personality. Kae is a rather stubborn individual who sticks with something once he's made
up his mind even if he learns part way through that it's not going to work or that it's a
bad idea. He's very strong in his ideals and that of his people, one who always tries to follow
the law even if he doubts it at times. Used to being the leader in groups Kae doesn't take
direction from others very well unless he holds them with high respect. Overall he is head
strong, bold, hard working, and decisive.

Roxie is pretty tall and muscular for a girl, though her features are petite and very feminine. Her hair is very dark and curly, usually she keeps her hair tied back when she's working. Her skin is fair and her shoulders, arms and face are covered with freckles. Roxie usually wears casual, but pretty clothes. Her favorite outfit is a pair of skinny jeans, a dark tanktop, an oversized plaid button down and a scarf to tie her hair back with. Strangely, she never seems to wear shoes unless she has to.

Personality: Roxie is a punch first, ask questions later kind of girl. She has a bad temper and can be quite feisty if she's provoked. But, she is a very empathetic towards all people. Despite her slightly rough and rumble appearance, she has a very soft heart; Roxie won't hesitate to help anyone who needs it, no matter who they are. She is extremely loyal to the people she cares about and is very overprotective of them. Roxie isn't afraid to voice her opinions and take charge if she needs to. Her most negative trait is her recklessness and quick temper.

Extra: Roxie works nights as a pro-boxer, though she goes to college during the day. She wants to become a star athlete, but her parents are forcing her to go to school first. She's kept her passion for boxing a secret from them. Roxie really loves animals and she owns a pet white rat named Bobby and a boxer/lab mix named Apollo

Kae hadn't expect the storm to brew up the way it had, for the high currents to switch do fast and carry him away even faster. Normally he'd just ride out the current until he could slip out of it, but this one lead to a rocky shore like he'd never seen. Before he knew it the waves were crashing his body into the rocks above and underwater, scraping up his body and eventually knocking him unconscious. It wasn't until the storm died that his unconscious body was washed among the rocks, his ragged breathing of the air the only sign that the storm hadn't ended his life.

Summer storms were fairly common in the small coastal town where Roxie lived. Though they could be dangerous for people who were caught outside in the lightning and rain, they usually didn't last long. Sure enough, the sudden storm died down quickly and the sun came out. Roxie had decided to take advantage of the sudden break in the weather by taking her dog, Apollo, for a nice jog on the beach.

Keeping an eye on her beloved pet, Roxie popped in her earbuds and jogged along the shoreline. Everything was peacefully quiet after the storm- that is until she heard Apollo barking loudly and growling. "Apollo? What is it boy?" She asked, jogging over to see what he had found. Her eyes widened as she spotted an unconscious man -er merman- laying in the sand. Hesitantly Roxie kneeled down and gently checked his pulse. Thankfully, he was still alive, but it was obvious that he needed help and quickly. Cursing under her breath, she had no idea what to do but she knew he couldn't stay out here laying on the sand forever. Her cottage wasn't too far away, but she wasn't sure if she could carry him there.

Unable to move and with the sun now out Kae's body was able to dry so much so that the magic began to take hold. It didn't look all that weird when his tail split, scales turned to skin, and the blue color paled out, but his own spasming told that pain did come with the processes at least with the injuries he had. The shift was enough to draw his mind out of the darkness it had entered, the sound of a creature barking and the feeling of something touching his skin had him jerking to sit up. It wasn't the best movement to perform after being knocked out, the regret was instant with the pain that shot through his head and his vision clouded once more. He could still hear the creature barking and could only hope it didn't plan to attack him, in his state without his spear he was no match for an attack.

Roxie's eyes widened and she scrambled away from the semi-conscious merman as she watched Kae's tail transform into legs. " What in the bloody underworld is going on here?" She muttered under her breath. All of this strange magic and merpeople was overwhelming for her to say the least. But, she didn't really have the time to dwell on how foreign it all was; the injured merman obviously needed her help. Roxie couldn't just leave him to die, stranded on the beach. The dark-haired young woman gave a sigh of relief as the man suddenly sat up. " Whoa, easy there mate" She said firmly, her voice filled with worry, " You need to take it easy for a bit.". Apollo sniffed Kae before barking loudly in warning and snapping at him." Shh, hush up Apollo" Roxie said, shooing the large dog away from Kae. Apollo growled lowly and stood by his owner's heels, but he didn't make a move to hurt the merman. Turning her attention back to Kae, she looked him over worriedly." Hey, look mate, I want to help you. Understand?" She had no idea if he spoke English, but Roxie hoped that she at least came off as friendly.

The fog in his mind took a few moments to clear up, enough to where he could hear the words that someone was saying and once again here what he now thought to be a dog barking. Granted he'd never seen a dog but had simply learned about some of the land animals, the description seemed to fit the barking thing next to him. With the adrenaline coming down he could feel all of the cuts and beatings his body had taken when the waves crashed him into the rocks. Really he just needed to get back into the water, it was bad enough that a human had seen him but he couldn't heal and get home like this. "I can understand you," Kae finally answered the human women, focusing on the dark-haired woman as she called back her dog. "I just need to get back and then I can leave." He told her simply knowing there was no point hiding from the woman what he was, she'd already seen him, he just needed to get away now.

Roxie was strangely relieved as Kae began to speak; he didn't seem threatening at all, just injured. " That's great, I'm we can understand each other at least." She said, though the dark-haired woman frowned deeply " I don't think so, mate. You're in no shape to go anywhere like this." Roxie vaguely motioned at the bruises and cuts that lined his body, " And Heaven knows how long you were unconscious out here on the sand." She crossed her arms over her chest definitely, " I'm not letting you leave until you're healed. If you go back out to sea like this, you're liable to get yourself killed." Roxie said firmly. After seeing Kae injured so badly, the spunky young woman couldn't help but want to help him anyway she could.

"My kind understand many languages although we have no need for them I still learned them." Kae said plainly fully aware how rude he was coming off, but uncaring at the moment was a human thought of him when his main thought was to just get away and get back. While her concern for him was something he didn't expect it was also something he didn't want or feel he needed, help from a human was unheard of, to say the least. "I appreciate the concern but I can stay here and heal I have to get back, this is no place for me." Kae responded a bit calmer now, but still eager to get back into the familiar water. Land was something he'd only witnessed from afar and wondered around on very few times as a child so the elders could teach him to walk should he ever need to. But that had been over a decade ago so to find himself stranded on it in his condition now was rather unpleasant.
