Hello! I was paired up with you on PenPaws, so here’s my first letter. Sorry, it’ll probably be short. I guess I should introduce myself! My name is Peaches, but my friends normally call me Polly. I enjoy writing short stories, reading, and donuts.

I have a budgie called Truffle. Do you have any pets? What do you like to do? What do you do in life? I... I probably didn’t phrase that right.

I mean do you live by yourself or with friends/family? What do you do for a living? I write stories for magazines and stuff.

I live with my girlfriend, Paniz, her dog Lisa, and Truffle.

I am mute, lesbian, and female. I hope we can become friends, you sound like a lovely person.

Hello! If we're getting warnings out of the way I suppose I should warn you that my internet is slow and unreliable, so my letters may be a little... far apart to say the least. Reading is an interest that meshes well, there's not a whole lot else to do here when the weather decides to do it's own thing, and so I've read many, many books.

What color budgie? He sounds adorable. I do not have any pets, not much of a vets office to speak of here, although occasionally I'll end up with a spider or two, and a wasps nest is situated in the northwest corner of my house. We have an agreement.

I'm by myself out here, but that's fine by me. Every week or two my boss sends a small plane out with supplies and the pilot often stays for lunch. I monitor the water parameters around the islands, and observe how smaller organisms react to the parameters. What kinda of stories do you write?

What kind of dog is Lisa?

You sound like a lovely person as well, I hope the same!

Dear Marin,
I'm glad you replied! Don't worry if you can't write much, my internet is often failing as well. I'm glad you like reading as well. It's good to have something we're both interested in.

Truffle is a blue & cinnamon budgie, and he is very cute. Lisa is a Persian Mastiff, from Paniz's home country. I hope the wasps aren't dangerous!

I prefer righting about fantasy, but I'll write anything that fits with the theme of the magazine. I write for a children's magazine, and they have themes each issue.

The story I'm working on at the moment is in the theme of a fairytale. It's a modernised version of Sleeping Beauty.

Lisa sounds like quite a big dog, haha! Is she a handful?

The wasps aren't dangerous, and generally keep to themselves. Very polite neighbors, if I'm being honest.

If I might ask, how would a modernized version of sleeping beauty work?

Dear Marin,

Sorry that this is late! I forgot to get around to this.

The modernised version is about a woman who's horse throws her off. She crashes into a tree and stabs her finger on a splinter. This is based off the original Italian version, where Sleeping Beauty pricks herself on a poison splinter. The woman later wakes up in hospital, in a coma. Her divorced husband comes to her daughter's help and together they watch over her in hospital. Eventually, he talks to her about the divorce and she wakes up. They get re-married and it's a happily ever after!

Lisa is definitely a handful! She eats... uh... everything! If we don't keep a constant eye on her, she ends up climbing on the table [via chairs and benches], knocking everything off while she snuffles at our lunch. And then eventually throws it all up. She's also very strong and enjoys leaping up on people, so we've had a few accidental incidents where small children have been rather crushed.

Glad to hear the wasps aren't dangerous! Paniz would freak if we had wasps, she's deathly afraid of creepy crawlies. Are there many insects and bugs around the... island, you said?
