river paused as marcella spoke of putting him on speaker, chuckling softly. "hey, angel. it's daddy." he mused to his daughter, a grin on his lips, listening to the faint background noises of the tv.

evangeline smiled. “dada!” she exclaimed, and marcella squealed. “river... she just said dada... our baby girl said her first word.” she said quietly, so excited.

river's grin grew even wider as he heard the little voice of their daughter squeal out. "my little angel." he cooed proudly, heart swelling with love. "man it is so hard to not come home right now." he chuckled gently.

marcella was nearly crying she was so happy. “dada!” she said again, pointing at the phone. she then pointed at marcella. “mama!” she said with a grin, and marcella nearly fainted. “oh gosh, two words in a day...”

river laughed as he heard evangeline speak. "dada's gonna come home in the morning, baby." he mused, even though he knew she didn't understand anything but dada. as she proceeded to say mama, river sighed with happiness. "what a big day."

marcella grinned as evangeline started dancing around in her arms. “i love you, and i’ll see you tomorrow.” she said quietly, looking at her phone and smiling though he couldn’t see.

river smiled softly. "i love you, too. see you soon, beautiful. bye." he murmured, hanging up the line. grinning to himself, river stood back up and continued his work.

marcella hugged the baby close to her, grabbing the baby food and beginning to feed her. “hey, kat, i can crash here, right?” she asked, wiping the baby’s face.

kat smiled as she reappeared, leaning against the counter. "of course." she mused, natalia and nora on her sides. "momma! food!" nora demanded, kat laughing softly. "alright, baby." she murmured, setting them in their seats.

marcella smiled. “i’m going to put eva in with the girls. she just said mama and dada.” she said with a grin at the baby, who was falling asleep again. she placed her in the playpen and pulled out the mac and cheese, letting it cool on the stovetop
