kat sat quietly in the room with marcella, smiling slightly at the little photos. as marcella's phone rang, her head tilted to the side when the girl paled. "marci? what's wrong?" she questioned worriedly.

marcella pulled the two ladies along with her as she went to the emergency ward. she fought with the nurse before opening the door harshly. she stared at river. sure, he didn’t know she was pregnant. but he shouldn’t have acted like this.

kat frowned in confusion as she followed marcella, watching as she nearly slammed open a door. kat peeked her head in, gasping as she saw river. he had a huge bandage wrapped around his torso, and his arm was in a cast. a bruise rested on his cheek, as well as a cut on his lip. "what happened?!" kat exclaimed with worry, river shaking his head slightly. "accident, dude wasn't looking, i wasn't looking. didn't end good." he muttered, his voice a bit hoarse. "maddox is hurt, too, but they won't tell me how bad and his family isn't here." he spoke angrily.

marcella stayed silent for a moment. “kat, you go hang out with maddox.” she ordered, before sitting in a chair and trying not to cry. she was so angry, and it showed on her face as she crossed her arms. “i can’t believe this. what would have happened if i lost you? i love you, and i don’t want our child to grow up without a father!” she cried, her pregnancy hormones clear in her mood swing.

kat huffed as marcella ordered her around, but went anyways because she was concerned for the male. after being directed to his room by a nurse, she knocked on the door before entering.

river listened to marcella, sighing. "marcella, you didn't lose me. like i said, it was an accident." he pointed out, putting emphasis on accident. "our child will be fine, considering they don't even exist yet." he pointed out, not catching on.

marcella wiped her eyes. “yes, they do.” she told him, her eyes still watering. “why i was here so fast.” she explained, a nervous expression on her face.

maddox straightened up. “oh, hey, kat.” he greeted. he had a broken rib and a few bruises, nothing else. “why are you here?” he asked. his voice was quiet and hoarse.

river's brows shot up in surprise, eyes flicking from her face to her stomach multiple times, pointing slowly. "there's a baby in there? right now? no joke?" he questioned, eyes slightly widening.

kat frowned gently at maddox's state, moving over to sit in the chair beside the bed. "well, your family isn't here, so you have me now." she spoke, doing jazz hands with a soft laugh. "how are you feeling?" she then questioned, concern writing over her face.

“yes.” marcella said, pulling the pictures out of her purse. “and i don’t know how i’ll be able to handle school because i really need my diploma, river.” she said, tears streaming down her face.

“i’m fine, what about you, beautiful?” he asked, a small smirk on his face. he reached over to place his thumb on her cheek, but cursing happened instead, as it hurt.

river peered over at the pictures, a small smile on his lips. as marcella spoke, he frowned at the tears. "hey, we'll figure it out, okay? you can go until you don't feel comfortable, or just do online from now on." he spoke softly.

kat raised a brow, fighting the blush and trying to appear nonchalant as he reached out to gently touch her cheek, narrowing her eyes at his curse of pain. "mmmhm. define fine, you butthead." she grumbled, glancing around. "did they give you pain meds? or at least make you comfortable in bed?" she questioned, carefully adjusting his pillow.

marcella smiled at him. “i love you.” she murmured, placing her hands on her stomach. “do you know how many people gossip about you and i in general? it hurts. and i want to go to school, but i don’t know.” she sighed. “and now people are going to call me… things for being pregnant.”

“i was doing okay, but i’m doing great now that you’re in the room.” maddox smirked. “yeah, they did.” he smiled at kat and reachedhis head up to kiss her cheek
