kat rolled her eyes at marcella. "you didn't screw everything up. talk to him, or something. just explain what you meant, i guess. i don't know, i'm not experienced with this." she laughed a bit in an attempt to lighten the mood.

marcella shook her head. “i’ve apologized already for something else and i’m barely forgiven for this.” she sighed. “you know, i know. once my leg is healed, i’ll make him a peace offering. mac and cheese.”

kat listened carefully, nodding her head and shrugging. "that would probably work," she spoke honestly, leaning back into the couch after finishing up her fill of the ice cream.

marcella soon fell asleep, her eyes red and watery. she threw a blanket over herself before she fell asleep.

*skip to when the cast is off*
marcella danced around the kitchen as she made the macaroni to an invisible beat only she could hear throught her earbuds. she took it out of the oven and let it cool before calling river down. she had no idea how she would apologize but it would be sincere.

river sighed as he heard his name being called, hesitantly exiting his room and heading downstairs. he eyed marcella cautiously, crossing his arms afterwards. "you called me?" he questioned with a slight sigh.

marcella looked at the pan on top of the oven and looked at river. “you see, i could’ve just apologized for being an ass.” she started. “but i can walk now, and i made this,” she gestured to the pan of macaroni and cheese. “because i know it’s something you like, just like i like you.” she sighed. “i’m sorry.”

river listened to the girl quietly, looking to the macaroni and cheese that was in the pan. his eyes moved back to marcella, sighing in response. "it's the one i like?" he asked, almost childishly as he eyed the pan eagerly.

marcella nodded with a small smile on her face. “i hope it tastes good, mom’s recipe.” she noted as she handed river the macaroni. “i’m sorry.”

river nodded his head slowly, taking the food and glancing down at it before looking back to marcella. "you're forgiven." he spoke, lightly patting her shoulder before moving to grab a fork.

marcella smiled. all she wanted was to be forgiven. she was forgiven. “welp, text me later if you need anything.” she shrugged and went to her room.
