river frowned a bit as she spoke of her mother being..gone. "did they give you pain medicine?" he questioned, not wanting to bring up anything about her mother in case it upset her. he'd give it a few days to settle in, knowing marcella was probably just in shock at the moment.

marcella nodded. she sat up straighter and kissed his cheek, before slouching down again. “now… i have to make you mac and cheese…” she said with a small grin.

river nodded his head, glad that they seemed to be taking care of her. he gave a breathy chuckle at her words, leaning back in the chair. "better start perfecting it, i'm pretty picky when it comes to my mac and cheese." he murmured with a slight smirk, turning his head as michelle and kat came busting in.

marcella smirked. “mom’s mac and cheese was good. mine is great.” she joked, smiling as she saw michelle and kat. “hey.” she greeted with a smile.

kat rushed over to hug marcella, river stopping her and pointing to marcella's injuries. kat gave a sheepish smile, carefully and gently hugging marcella before stepping back. "do you want anything, dear?" michelle questioned softly.

marcella shook her head. “i’m fine. although…” she looked over to river. “i will need a place to stay, at least until i can find an apartment.” she sighed and leaned back.

michelle waved her hand in dismissal. "stay with us, you're more than welcome to and i'm sure river and kat won't mind." she spoke, the two siblings nodding in agreement with their mother's words.

marcella smiled. “i’m sure river won’t mind.” she teased, a smirk on her face. “isn’t that right, river?” she asked. she let the smirk rest on her face, waggling her eyebrows at river.

river rolled his eyes a bit at her words. "i don't know, mom, she can be pretty annoying." he admitted with a smirk, michelle rolling her eyes and chuckling at the kids antics.

“thats upsetting, last time i checked, i though i was one of the only things in your life worth protecting.” marcella said, fake pouting. “but i mean, yeah, i am pretty annoying when i ride down the stairs on a chair cushion.”
