”i feel like such a bad person but how old is ava?” he pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car and then got out autumn. he walked inside and got the same table they had yesterday and requested two high chairs. cole walked up the stairs to the table and sat down.

[Berenice.]

“She’s one and a half. Why?” Saff took Ava to the table and sat her in a high chair next to Autumn. “I don’t want to go to class tomorrow.” Saffron complained and sighed loudly, slumping in her seat.

”just had to remember who’s older. ava is by like a month.” he told her and looked at the sky. “go over to the edge with ava and autumn. i want to take a picture.” he told her and took out his phone, “just look at the sky.” he told her and grinned. after he took the picture and put his phone on the table and put autumn and ava back in their high chairs. he made sure saff was still standing when he got down onto one knee and pulled out the ring box. he opened and smiled as he said, “saffron, will you marry me?”

[Berenice.]

“What do you do with all of the photos you take. Especially the ones you take when I don’t realise you’ve done it.” She laughed, then was taken by total surprise as he got on one knee. Saff was too surprised to say anything, so she just quickly ran into a hug and failed at holding back her happy tears.

he slipped the ring onto her finger. “surprise.” he whispered, ignoring the clapping around them. he pulled out a very small ring and went over to ava. “hey ava, will you be my daughter?” ava clapped and smiled. dada!” she exclaimed and cole slipped the ring on ava’s finger. “are you happy saff?”

[Berenice.]

“Of course I’m happy!” Saffron exclaimed, unsure as to whether she should laugh or cry. “How long have you been thinking about doing that?” She asked after finally regaining herself. “I can’t belive that’s just happened.”

”i’ve been thinking about it for a while.” he told her with a smile and laughed a bit. “im so glad you said yes. and ava said yes to being my daughter and autumn already said she wants to be your daughter so it’s perfect.” he told her and looked at autumn. “dada. mama. ava!” she squealed and cole laughed.

[Berenice.]

“I do t think I’ll be able to handle anymore surprises. There are no more, right?” She laughed and finally sat back down at the table, wiping away her tears with a napkin. She then laughed at Autumn. “Autumn has said Dad first as well. See, you are a bad influence.”

”no more surprises.” he laughed and ordered some pancakes for the girls. he then order a bit of food for himself and smiled at saff. “i am still doing online classes so i’ll keep the girls. but remember that i have football tryouts on wednesday.” he reminded her and laughed a bit. “will you come to my games if i get on the team?”

[Berenice.]

“Of course I’d come to your games! I am your biggest fan after all. So is Autumn and Ava. I think I’m more excited about it than you are. So, you better do well.” She laughed. “Even if you don’t get in, I’ll still love you as my fiancé. That’s weird to say.”
