ava smiled. “ma-ma.” she said slowly. cole shook his head. “but we are keeping willow, i love you munchkin.” he leaned in to kiss saffron but ava stuck her hand out, blocking his kiss. “ava, that wasn’t nice.” he laughed and kissed saffron, this time for real. “come than, let’s all go upstairs. you get willow hun. i’ll put ava down. he smiled and went upstairs, putting ava back in her crib. he turned on the music that usually lulled her to sleep and then went to their room, getting out the beanbag. he put a soft blanket over it and then went to brush his teeth.

[Berenice.]

“Yay! That’s right Ava! You’re so clever!” Saffron grinned and burst out laughing as Ava blocked them with her hand. She picked Willow up and followed Cole upstairs. She set Willow down on the beanbag, only to watch her fall off and run around the room. “Suit yourself.’ Saff then knocked on the bathroom door and poked her head in. “Can I just ask you something? This might be me being a bit too paranoid.”

he looked at her and wiped his mouth. “what is it?” he asked before getting saffron’s brush. he dragged her to their bed and than made her sit. he brushed through her tangled hair and then put the brush back before sitting down beside her. he pulled her onto his lap and kissed her forehead. he ran a hand through his hair and grinned a bit to see that willow had went back to the beanbag and had fallen asleep.

[Berenice.]

Saffron smiled. “Stop doing all of these things for me. I feel bad because I don’t think I do enough for you. But anyway. I wanted to ask about Ava. Are you ok with her calling you Dad? I know some people wouldn’t like that. And because you’re not her biological dad I just want to make sure you’re ok with that. I can always make her call you Clumsy Cole.”

”yeah that’s completely fine.” he smiled and shook his head. “you do too much for me, you deserve a break.” he told her and laid down. “come on let’s go to bed, i was planning on taking you and the girls out to lunch then we can go dog shopping.” he than sat up after he saw a bag underneath some clothes. he swore quietly, knowing that the box was inside it. inside the box was a ring... an wedding ring. he was planning to propose to her soon so hopefully she didn’t notice the bag. he laid back down and smiled at saff. “love you.”

[Berenice.]

“Thank goodness. I’m still annoyed that she said Dad before mommy. Were you teaching her that?” Saff arched an eyebrow as she spoke, then heard him swear quietly. “What’s up?” Saffron asked and sat up as well. She didn’t see anything and thought it was a bit strange. She didn’t bother asking, though.

”i was trying to get her to say mommy but she probably heard me try to get autumn to say dada.” he told her with a smile and yawned. “oh it’s nothing, i forget to close the pie box. i just remembered, i’ll be right back. he told her and went to close the pie box. the lights on in the room were still on and cole was planning on turning them off after he got back. he put the pie in the fridge and then made sure all the doors were locked before slowly going back upstairs, he was gone for a good ten minutes before he finally opened the door.

[Berenice.]

Saffron looked slightly confused at how strange he suddenly started acting. Once he left, Saff looked around and spotted the bag. She didn’t want to snoop, but was desperate to know what was in it. But she knew very well that Cole wouldn’t be happy if she snooped through his things. “What’s in the bag?” Saff asked once he had returned.

”oh, probably just a left over bag.” he turned off the lights and yawned. “im tired. let’s go to bed.” he murmured and crawled into bed. “goodnight hun. sleep well.” he murmured before drifting off to sleep. he rolled over onto his side, moving away from saffron. he had a pretty good day and was extremely exhausted.

[Berenice.]

“Oh ok. I’ll clean this room tomorrow then if there’s left over stuff lying around.” Saff told him before going to sleep too.

The next morning, Saffron decided to clean their room before she did anything else. She hated a mess and it annoyed her a bit that there were stuff just flung on the floor. She picked up the bag she saw last night but saw there was a box inside. “Hey, Cole?” Saff nudged him awake. “Can I throw this out? It’s still got something in it.”
