“Alexandra Marie-Anne Grace”. That’s what the bag said on it. Alex already knew though, which is why it wasn’t open. The Dress. She thought. Why did her father have to marry her off for god’s sake? This was the 21st century! You don’t just do that anymore! So lame. She didn’t even know the guy. No tinder profile, nothing. Alex figured that things couldn’t get any worse. But then, an idea sparked into her cognitive. If Alex wasn’t there to get married, then the marriage wouldn’t happen! She desperately ripped the covers off the luxurious bed she had been sleeeping in, and took the bedsheet. She tied the extra sheets together, and then tied the whole rope to the balcony. That should hold. Maybe. Then Alex packed a bag with a couple of bare essentials. Her jeans and shirts, iPod, credit card, passport, and license.

Time was ticking, and Alex finally finished packing. She slung her bag over her shoulder and started shimmying down the balcony, the frisk air chattering her teeth. But then, she stopped in her tracks. A noise had come from some place to her right. She squinted, and faintly made out the distinctive blob of a human. Alex slightly panicked, and froze. Who in the world was that? They were doing the exact same thing as her!

Kai sighed. The box at his door was obviously a tuxedo. The 21'st century-- and still arranged marriages? He sighed, picking up the box. In his anger, he threw it across the room, probably denting the box slightly. He suddenly had an idea, and grabbed a backpack. "Essentials, necessities..." He muttered, packing the bag.


Kai was afraid of heights. But it was better than simply walking down the stairs and exiting his room. Besides, the wedding was tomorrow and he didn't want to be there. He looked to his right and gave a gasp, seeing the form of another being doing the same thing as he, swinging down the balcony on a rope of bedsheets and pillowcases, and other random stuff you could find like towels and old clothing. Suddenly, Kai heard a snap. He rope was tearing! He shimmied down as fast as he could, now only a few feet from the bottom. Suddenly-- Snap! He fell the last three feet and landed with a thump. "Oww, my back." He muttered, getting up and rubbing spine.

In her shock, Alex tugged on her rope and fell to the forest ground. That hurt. But she didn’t feel anything broken. That was always a good sign. But then, Alex felt another loud thud, followed by a snap and some moaning. Alex was a bit scared, but she took her flashlight and started to investigate.

“H-hello? Who-who’s there? Uh, I’m uh” Alex grabbed the nearest stick, “I’m armed and ready to hit!” Alex stuttered. That’s when she saw the imprint in the ground of a human body. She followed upwards and saw another human, a man, right there in front of her. Alex brandished her stick. “Who are you? I- uh I will call the police!” Although obviously Alex wouldn’t call the police. For one, she had left her phone in her hotel room, and for two, she was running away and that would be pretty stupid of her to do.

Kai got up slowly, rubbing his back. He turned and saw a form. A female-- holding... Was that a sword? He couldn't tell in this lighting. He didn't really like the dark much, but he would have to get used to it if he were running away. "Well- I- so would I!" He said. "I mean, you were-were doing the-the same thing, right?" He said nervously, stepping backwards. Bad idea.

Kai hit the ground with a thud, hit foot entangled in a thick root. "P-please don't hurt me!" He said, tugging on the root to release his foot. It was stuck on the end of his tennis shoe. "I- I have a-" He pulled a stick from the ground, which almost instantly crumbled with age. He gave up and sighed. "Just-please don't." He muttered, finally releasing his foot. Kai stood up and backed up a bit more, further into the forest.

Alex looked at the klutz of a man. She laughed and dropped her stick. “Dude, chillax. I was kidding. I’m not calling the police, ‘cause I’m runnin’ away.” Alex stared quizzically at the boy in question. “Yep, you too huh. Well, wanna join me?” Alex had never thought of another person being involved, but he seemed pretty cool. “So, I’m kind of new to this whole running away thing, got any plans?” Alex’s earrings and nose ring glinted in the moonlight. Her blue hair was sticking to her face in her sweat. She waited, putting on a crooked grin.

Kai pondered the thought for a moment. To be honest, he hadn't really made any plans. He's just tied the rope and slipped off the balcony. "R-really?" He asked, his fear slowly washing away to be replaced by confusion. "I-I mean, I didn't- really think of it..." He mumbled, looking down at his feet. "I just kinda... acted without thought." He knew it was dumb, but what else could he do? He was to be married tomorrow evening! "Why-why did you run away?" He asked curiously. "I mean, if you don't mind me asking."

Alex laughed. “Well. Let’s just say it’s a long story. Just assume that I’m another random girl from around here, ‘kay? Maybe I’ll tell you later,” Alexandra enjoyed not being regarded as royalty. It felt nice to be treated like any other girl. Of course, she didn’t know about Kai. Then Alexandra looked at him, “Hey, if you don’t mind me asking, why did you run away?” Alexandra followed this with, “Of course if you don’t mind me asking.”
