[miss kobayashi]

ren shut the door, making sure it was locked by doing a routine door pull. after fully satisfied with the door being locked, he glances at kyo with a small smile.

when kyo asks him his movie preferences, he shrugs slightly, touching a finger to his chin in thought. " i like action and romance, I guess. really anything but horror. " he admits.

it was a bit of a cliche, but ren really did hate horror, and he had watched his fair share of horror movies. they always just gave him the chills.

kyo began walking towards the station, listening as ren talked. he smiled a bit at the response, nodding his head. "alright, no horror." the male promised, glancing to the blue sky.

"comedy, too?" kyo then questioned, peering over to ren. he enjoyed the movies that held comedy, it was always nice to be able to laugh at something.

kyo quickly moved out of the way as someone on a bicycle rode by, shouting out their apology. he chuckled to himself, shaking his head a bit.

ren sighed in relief when kyo assured him no horror. he smiles when kyo offers comedy, taking a moment to think. he didn't really want kyo to think he was a dork by laughing out loud, but it was still a fun option.

he eventually nods. " sure. I like comedy. " ren hums, walking alongside kyo but still having trouble making eye contact with him. they were going on a date, so why was he still so nervous?

ren flinched as the bike went by, relieved that they were fine. he smiles weakly in response to kyo's chuckle. he needed to stop acting so weird around kyo, and just start being casual. just be casual. he told himself.

kyo paused when ren spoke up about liking comedy, nodding his head. he was sure the theaters would have something they liked, at least a movie with one of the three genres they had discussed.

when they began to approach the train station, kyo remembered something. "oh! hang on," he murmured, tugging his bag off and unzipping it, rummaging through the stuff before pulling out a box of tea.

he held it out to ren, fixing his bag. "here, your sister seemed to like tea and none of us really drink it at the parlor." he murmured. it was some blend of hibiscus and other fruity tasting stuff, so he assumed it was one of those cold teas.

he saw the station in the distance, going to his phone and checking the time. so far, they were doing surprisingly well on time. he let out a small sigh of relief, shutting off his phone and checking the time.

ren paused when he heard kyo tell him to hang on, looking at the other curiously. his eyes widened when he saw the box of tea. " oh! thank you... I'm sure she'll love this. "

he grabbed the box and glanced at the contents before looking back up at kyo. " you're a really nice guy, you know that, right? "

kyo smiled slightly as ren took the box of tea, adjusting his bag onto his back and moving to the station. turning his head towards ren as he spoke, kyo chuckled sheepishly. "i just like to help out, is all." he muttered.

slipping his hands back into his pockets, kyo tilted his head a bit. "hey, what day should we go?" he then questioned, referring to their date. "probably a weekend, right?" he then added.

he knew ren's sister and boyfriend worked the weekends, so he hoped ren would be free one of those days. though he still did have to form up a plan of what order they'd do what in.

he huffed quietly. stop being so humble. the male thought quietly, directed at kyo. he could see the train stop up ahead, and started to move towards it.

ren nodded at the question, smiling softly. " I'm free saturday. how about then? " he questions, taking the box of tea and shoving it into his bag.

the horn of the train passing by caught his attention. " that's me. I'll see you soon, kyo. " ren hums, waving goodbye to the other and walking onto the train.

kyo listened to ren, nodding his head with a smile. "sounds great. i'll text you later to figure out the rest." the man spoke, turning his head as the train horn sounded.

backing away from the platform, kyo lifted his hand and returned the wave to ren, a slight smile still on his lips. once the train pulled away, kyo turned and headed back to his apartment.

yawning, he unlocked the door and entered, monster running forward with loud meows. kyo chuckled, dropping his things and scooping up the feline. "i'm sorry i left you," he spoke with amusement, setting the cat down and filling his food and water bowls.

ren made it onto the train with a sigh, taking a seat close to the door. he was able to listen to music on the train ride there, making the ride feel a lot shorter than it actually was.

once home, ren opened the door, calling out for mai. a part of him suspected she wasn't home yet, and he was correct in this assumption when he went quiet to hear a response and heard no answer. he didn't mind, he was too happy to care about being alone.

ren set the tea box on the counter, easy for mai to see when she got home. he wandered to his room with a quiet yawn, hoping to take a quick nap and make up for any lost sleep now that he had some time.

after making sure monster was taken care of, kyo heated up a frozen dinner in the microwave and moved to his bedroom, changing into some sweatpants now that he was home and comfortable.

exiting his room, he scratched monster's ears and moved to the microwave, carefully taking his dinner out and grabbing a fork. pouring himself some apple juice because he was still occasionally a child at heart, kyo moved to his couch and turned his tv on, settling in before pulling out his phone.

'hey, did you make it home safely?' he sent to ren, setting his phone beside him and switching channels until he reached one he liked. he then also set the remote down before beginning to eat his dinner.
