Name:
xxxxxAri Burming.
Age:
xxxxxTwenty-four.
Personality:
xxxxxAri is a very stoic and proper man who is very good at getting things done. He takes things xxxxxseriously and to other people it seems that he is completely incapable of smiling or xxxxxlaughing. He's monotonous and cold, which makes him unapproachable and intimidating. In xxxxxreality, he's actually quite lonely but has trouble expressing himself, as a result he just xxxxxquietly accepts his life in solitude.
History:
xxxxxAri has come from a long line of well-known witches. As other magical beings became xxxxxmore and more thirsty for power, many of his family were either captured, killed, or in xxxxxhiding. Among other witches he is an elite, known for his powerful magic and even humans xxxxxoccasionally come to see him asking for his assistance.

the familiar

Name:
    Helena Winthrop
Age:
    Twenty-one
Personality:
With a bubbly personality, Helena always does her best to be optimistic and cheerful. Often times she comes across as overexcitable about things. She also has a pentchant for being overeager, often overdoing things or making small errors in her rush to action. She’s very friendly, though she does tend to talk too much and ramble, and makes a habit of trying to befriend most of the creatures she meets. Helena’s cheerful demeanor often leads to naivety, as she tends to be a bit too trusting of others. However, if pushed enough, she can become incredibly emotional; in these instances, she often runs away to go cool down. For one reason or another, she feels obligated to stay chipper and upbeat. Above all else, Helena desperately wants others to like her, even though she doesn’t seem too sure of herself, and if someone makes a dig at her, often grows rather quiet and nervous.
History:
Like any other familiar, Helena knew there was a chance she would be summoned, and greatly anticipated such an opportunity. Her family lineage held several different familiars who bonded with legends in history, and Helena desperately hoped she would join that list. However, Helena isn’t all that great by her family’s standards; in all actuality, she’s deemed as somewhat of a failure. She is supposed to be faster than average and incredibly agile, but often ends up botching that due to her clumsiness. She is supposed to be able to accomplish short term teleportation of herself and one other, but can never seem to get it right - probably because she’s rather fidgety - and often ends up injured during her attempts. If she’s anything like her family, Helena is supposed to be able to control light and the absence of it, but she can barely adjust the light produced from a night light. Helena is aware of her family’s expectations that she failed to meet, and it seems as if that’s only proved to make her even more determined to achieve her dreams. Indepent training can only get you so far, but Helena intends to have ti take her as far as it can.

Ari pulled the sleeves of his white dress shirt up to his elbows, his eyes quickly flicking through the lines of a large old spell book. He ran his hands through his messy hair and looked down at the large circle drawn in the center of the floor with chalk. He picked up the white chalk from beside the book on his wooden table and added several lines and symbols inside the circle. He stood up to inspect his work and nodded to himself in satisfaction when he decided that it was perfect. He wiped his hands on his black dress pants, not caring too much about getting them dirty. He leaned over the book and rehearsed the incantation that consisted of words used in a language centuries ago, witches learned it in order to recite spells. When the pink-haired man was confident enough he approached the chalk, the tips of his leather shoes barely touching it. He lifted up his arms in front of him with his palms facing the ground, his fingers were spread out and slightly bent showing that he was relaxed and had done spells many times before.
The chalk started to glow as he recited the words to summon his familiar, the once candlelit room became much brighter as the magic circle started the process of summoning. Ari was a bit old to be getting his first familiar, as most witches usually got them them during their preteens. He never felt the need to have one, he preferred being alone most of the time anyway so he didn't see the point. Now that he was older and was a well known powerful witch he became very busy doing things for other people, it had basically became a business without him realizing it though he definitely didn't mind getting paid for doing something that was easy to him. He had many requests along the lines of custom spells and potions, having a helping hand around his lonely mansion would definitely be useful so he finally caved in and decided to summon one for himself. He didn't know what to expect, both of his parents' familiars were completely different so whoever he got seemed to be completely random. He finished the incantation and felt a surge of energy go through him as the spell came into effect, if he did it correctly his new familiar would appear before him.

To be fair, Helena hadn’t been prepared to be summoned. She was aware that it could happpen at any time, but that didn’t mean she was always prepared. As it was, the girl had been preparing to attempt teleportation.
Again. Because her three previous attempts had resulted in nothing. It was quite disheartening really.
But then she blinked and her surroundings had changed. For a moment, Helena raised her fist and gave a victorious hop. ”I did it!”
However, the brunette quickly realized she had never seen the place she was now standing in. Teleportation didn’t work unless she knew the destination she was heading for. This couldn’t have been her work. Then whose?
She glanced around the room. There were candles lighting it, and she noted that she was standing amidst a chalk...circle? There was a wooden table with a piece of chalk and a spellbook on it, and as Helena continued to turn, her eyes landed on a man.
He had pink hair and pink eyes, and he was covered in chalk. ”Who are you?” But then she knew. Suddenly Helena was flooded with an unfamiliar feeling as she felt it. There was the familiar bond, snapping into place.
    She’d been summoned.
The frown she hadn’t even noticed she’d been wearing disappeared as Helena’s face lit up in a grin. ”You summoned me!” She bounced on her toes, pushing brown hair from her face as she realized she had absolutely no plan on what to do now. She’d wanted to get here...but had no plan now that she was.

Ari looked at her with a blank expression, definitely thinking that she was not what he had expected to see appear in his circle. He watched her with an eyebrow raised while she was trying to figure things out. What did she even think she had done successfully? It was an odd first impression but it was sudden so he couldn't expect much, after all his own hair was a mess and he had chalk all over his pants. She seemed to be very excitable and jumpy, nearly the polar opposite of himself though part of him didn't mind since this quiet mansion was rather depressing and she would most likely bring a lot of life back to the place since the rest of his family left.
Ari dusted himself off and ran his fingers through his hair, attempting to comb some of the messy pink strands back into place though it really didn't make a difference. He walked closer to her and held out his hand for her to shake. "My name is Ari Burming," he introduced himself, faintly thinking that her enthusiasm was cute. "And you are?" He wondered if she would recognize his family name or if he would recognize her's, important and powerful families were usually known by most witches and magical beings in both worlds; it was almost like being a celebrity.

ʜᴇʟᴇɴᴀ ᴡɪɴᴛʜʀᴏᴘ
Helena twirled a strand of hair around her finger as she listened, stopping only to begin talking with her hands whenever he gave his name. ”You’re a Burming?” There was definitely a bit of awe tinting her tone.
A Burming. She’d been summoned by a Burming! Helena had studied enough on mage families to recognize more obscure names, but anyone with any knowledge of mages knew of the Burmings. They were one of the big names; any familiar would be eager to be bonded with one of them.
”You guys are amazing! You’ve all done so many great things, and are so powerful, and-” Helena cut herself off amidst her rambling, face dusted in a pink only a little lighter than Ari’s hair as she realized she was running her mouth. ”Eep! I’m sorry. Where are my manners? I’m Helena Winthrop.”
After saying her family name, the brunette had to resist cringing. She wasn’t sure that he’d recognize her family name, but it was likely. Hopefully that didn’t give him too high expectations for her skill set - she wanted to be great, but currently it was a struggle. Which Ari should probably know...but she’d avoid letting him in on that detail till it came up.
Once again she glanced down at the chalk, unsure if she was allowed to step out and, if so, how careful she should be. After a moment poised on her tiptoes - and silently cursing the height difference between her and the mage - Helena gave up and stayed in place, training her eyes on Ari once more.

He chuckled lightly at her reaction to his family name, he knew that he was technically a bit famous among his world yet it was still flattering. No matter how many times he received compliments he dismissed them, thinking his reputation was overdramaticized. "Winthrop? Your family has a very good reputation. A man I used to go to school with had a Winthrop, though he wasn't as..." He paused for a moment, looking for the right word to use. "Bubbly as you are." He didn't see it as a bad thing, he found it rather refreshing though he did have a short temper so it could potentially clash with his mood if she was that jumpy during moments he was on edge.
"Well, if you'd like to follow me I can show you around the place." He offered, stepping away from the circle disregarding the chalk since he would have to wipe it off of the floor later anyway. He realized that once she was summoned she didn't have anything with her so he would have to take her to go shopping for new clothes. "We'll be side by side quite often from now on so we should get to know each other. You can ask me any questions you'd like first." He rolled down the sleeves of his shirt back to it's original position as he headed for the door, waiting for her to join him before he went any further.

( I’ll try to respond as soon as possible! Musical is really rough right now and I have like no time. Next week is the week of performances, so when that ends I’ll be able to respond consistently! )
