the whole school was buzzing today, it was the first day after training. this was the first time that the third years of the high school would be allowed in the dungeon. this was everyone's opportunity for fame, fortune, and most of all, whoever cleared the dungeon would be granted a wish by 'the genie'. no one knew who 'the genie' was but everyone knew what they could do, they could grant your wildest dreams. still, before the dungeon doors opened, the teams would be formed at 'the reaping'. right now everyone was gathering in the center of the school where the teams would be assigned. seika and hotaru stood near each other watching as the principal as she walked up on the platform. "welcome students to our fifteenth annual reaping," the principal said with a smile. "you have all been training for many, many years for this day when you will have the chance to clear the dungeon." the crowd erupted in cheers and shouts. "quiet down, now, as i said before, it is time for the reaping of the teams." the principal opened her palm out to the crowd. seika shifted uncomfortably and suddenly the principal stopped scanning over the crowd. "ah, and we have out first team. hayashi seika, mikagami shirou, kurosaki mafuyu, and... yoshida hotaru!"

mafuyu cheered along with the crowd as she listened to the principal's speech. it was the first time that she, and all of the other third years, would be allowed into the dungeon. everyone always looked forward to this event, even the younger students. all of their training led up to this day. watching as the principal scanned the crowd for the first time, the black-haired girl couldn't wait for the teams to be assigned. it wasn't long until the principal announced the first team.

hearing her own name, mafuyu smiled. the other three members in her team were seika, hotaru and... shirou? she remembered overhearing some students in the school talking about him. apparently, he was one of the magic users in the school who didn't need a weapon. "looks like it'll be a ride," she mumbled to herself.

shirou didn't bother listening to the principal's speech. the only thing he had to pay attention to was when his name was being called. the annual reaping was when the third years of the school were assigned teams, before being given permission to enter the dungeon. the brown-haired male could see why, since the dungeon was filled with unknown dangers lurking about. it would be pretty risky for one person to enter the dungeon without any training. that person would easily be annihilated by the enemies lurking in the deeper levels of the dungeon.

hearing his name being called by the principal, shirou snapped out of his thoughts. the names of the other members in his team were unfamiliar to him. i wonder how fun it'll be to work with them. there was a hint of a smirk on his face. the one thing he could only hope for was his team to not be boring. there wasn't any fun in teams with strict people, after all.

seika was a bit surprised by her team. she was glad that she and hotaru had gotten paired together because the two had been friends since two of them had entered into the academy to start training, and even a little bit before that. they had cleared one of the training dungeons as a pair. at least she had one person she knew would work well with. she did know of mafuyu and shirou as well. mafuyu had been in one of her weapons classes but they hadn't formally met each other or spoken to each other. she hadn't had any classes with shirou but she had heard that he was one of the few purely magic based student, that definatly interested her. she walked over to the side of the crowd, hoping that hotaru and the other would be looking for her.

relief flooded over hotaru as she heard her name being called alongside of seika's. they had been friends for quite a while. hotaru considered her to be on of her closest friends, in fact. her parents didn't let her be around many students at the school because of their family's status. the yoshidas had been one of the founding families of the magic school and because of that, they were viewed as a pretty powerful family. well, hotaru defiantly didn't completely fulfill that assumption. she wasn't really the type to take most things seriously, like her training, but she knew she had to now. she was becoming the age where she would be seen in the limelight alongside the rest of the yoshidas. she had to show the world that her family's future was bright. she took a deep breath and made her way towards seika.

mafuyu glanced around the crowded area, attempting to make her way through without getting lost. remembering the names of her new teammates, she noted that one of them, hotaru, was part of one of the founding families of the school. hmm... we have a powerful girl on board. subtly smiling to herself, the black-haired girl wondered what kind of person would hotaru be. as soon as she noticed that she had already made her way to her other three teammates, she snapped out of her thoughts, looking at the two other girls. "ah, hello. i hope it'll be fun working with you," the crimson red eyed girl greeted, widening her smile slightly. "it doesn't seem like shirou has arrived yet..." she said quietly, her smile slowly fading as her eyes darted around to check if the male had arrived yet. looking back at the other two girls, she plastered an awkward smile onto her face, rubbing the back of her head as she did so.

shirou quietly whistled a tune, standing still as he looked around the crowd. it was rather crowded, and he didn't have the motivation to squeeze through all those people. as soon as he spotted where his other teammates were gathering, he quickly teleported over. though, he unintentionally teleported behind a shorter girl with blonde hair. "ah, hey," he gave a cheeky grin, shoving his bandaged hands into his pockets. "sorry if i scared you there," he said, his tone rather nonchalant. the dark brown eyed male let his eyes scan his other teammates. one of them, hotaru, was from one of the founding families and definitely looked that part. seika, the girl he'd accidentally teleported behind and possibly scared, had yellow hair and didn't seem to be from any special kind of family. the last one was mafuyu, who, like seika, didn't seem to be from any of the founding families. so there's only one here with pretty high potential, huh? i guess i can't underestimate the other two, though. he thought, letting his gaze rest on the others.

thinking she heard a sound behind her, seika took a glance and saw a figure behind her. she jumped and quickly pulled her sword from it's sheath, ready to slash whoever had just appeared behind her. however, when she saw who it was, she let the tension fall from her arms as she narrowed her eyes at him. she swished her sword back into it's hiding place. "it's alright," she said coolly. "just be glad you weren't two steps closer," she joked smug before she turned back to the larger group. most people at this school definatly under estimated her power. mostly because she didn't have a well known family name. the hayakis weren't one of the founding families, they were simply one of the hundreds of magic families who attended the school. "well, it's nice to meet you all. i think we should start by introducing ourselves," she said with a smile. it usually wasn't her position to start the conversation but seeing as the only upperclassman, hotaru, didn't seem to be speaking right now, she wanted to take the lead. "im seika hayaki, im a swordsman," she told them. she then looked over at hotaru, giving her the cue to go next.

hotaru stayed quiet the whole while, only speaking a soft, "hi," because she didn't really know much about the two other people. she usually wasn't this shy and she knew seika would ask her why she was being so timid. honestly, she didn't really know why she was acting this way, either. when seika introduced herself and then glanced over to her, she blushed a bit, knowing she was about to stumble on her words. "eh- im hotaru yoshida," she told them all. "i specialize in archery," she finished.
