He smiled at her. "We can play with all of them, but we're only allowed to take one dog at a time to the play room, " he said. "Do you want to take the lab out first?" he asked, coming up beside her.

[Berenice.]

“I’ll feel bad for only taking one and then having to put it back in the kennel. Do you have a favourite? Considering you come here often then I’m guessing you might have a favourite.” Meg replied then turned to him.

He nodded. He went over to the cage holding a Miniature Australian Shepherd. "His name is Sky," he told her, "after the blue colour of his eyes." He crouched down in front of his cage and reached inside to scratch his chin.

[Berenice.]

“Aw! He’s so cute! I’m not surprised as to why he’s your favourite. Would you adopt him if you could? You’re probably more responsible than me. More mature as well.” Meg laughed and pet Sky.

"I think so," he said when she asked him if he would adopt Sky. Storm hadn't really thought of that since it had never been an option for him. His dad had been allergic to dogs. Storm unlocked the cage and put Sky's leash on. "Come on, let's take him to the play room."

[Berenice.]

Megan grinned as she followed them to the other room. “You’d probably be a good dog owner. A better one than me anyway.” She said, but then had to answer the phone to her mom who was wondering where they were. Once again, Megan became irritated at how protective she seemed and just hung up.

Storm clipped off the leash and Sky ran around play room. He closed the door once they were all inside, and grabbed a toy. He threw it, and Sky chased after it. Storm ran after him, chasing him around the room.

[Berenice.]

Megan then walked back over to Storm and watched Sky run around. “What are some of your biggest fears? Like, for me, birds are my biggest fear. Don’t ask why. What about you?” She asked and sat on the floor.

Storm sat down on the floor beside Megan. His head was down and he looked a bit upset at her question. "Cars," he whispered. "Getting into an accident again. Being paralyzed, unable to move. Watching people die with me unable to stop it. Endless pain. Being tossed out on the streets like I'm nothing. Getting send to a foster home." He exhaled, shaking a bit.

[Berenice.]

Megan put an arm around him since he was shaking. “Sorry to ask a sensitive question. But listen, you are never going to a foster home, nor will you ever be in an accident like that again. Do you really think I would let that happen?”
