Zachary loves running with a burning passion.
At the thought of it, it gets him pumped up
and energetic. He’s extremely proud, most
especially when he wins a race. However,
he’ll sulk whenever he loses a race, specifically
when he loses to his greatest rival. He tends
to be a bit scornful to his competitor but he
never means to be rude or the sort. He’s
sarcastic almost all the time, but he doesn’t
mind being serious when he needs to be.

It was the first meet of the season, and Zachary was as thrilled as ever. He couldn’t wait for the excitement of racing, the wind hitting his body as he ran. The thought of it already got him excited and pumping, and even more ready to run. He had sat down on the bus, watching the buildings pass. An excited chatter filled the bus, with people gossiping or talking about how well they would do. He just hoped to drop a bit of time in all of his races; but there was one thing he definitely didn’t want: losing. It fell last on the list of things he wanted that day.

The bus soon arrived to the highschool they were competing at, and it came to a screeching halt. Zachary got up from his seat, as ready as ever. He slung his backpack over his shoulder, watching as people filed out of the bus. He then turned to the bus driver as he neared the exit. “Thanks,” he said before hopping out of the bus. He looked around, observing people from the other teams run and practice on the track. Watching the other runners couldn't help but make him wonder who he would race against that day. He waited for one of his friends before he started walking. He nodded every now and then, acting like he was listening to his mindless chatter about school.

passion, adrenaline, that was what luke thought of when he thought of running. he always ran, every evening and every morning, but track was so much different, now he got to race. no, he didn't care about the other team, he was racing himself. he was racing his best time from last year. luke pulled himself into the bus, carrying his sports' bag over his muscular shoulder. he wasn't exactly sure where to sit, he didn't exactly make very friends on his team when all he cared about was beating his old times and winning. honestly, luke wished he had friends in his team, some people to support him, but that wasn't really too realistic for him.

he decided to just sit alone in the back of the bus. luke popped in her headphones and turned on some music. he couldn't listen to the chatter or it would all get into his head and mess up his running. he rushed out of the bus when it came to a halt. he let out an relieved sigh as he looked out at the bright lights that shone over the track. he walked over to their area and sat down his bag on the bleachers. he began to stretch out, wondering if anyone would run with him.

Zachary walked over to the bleachers, and set his stuff down. He spared a look at the track, knowing well that he'd be there running one of his races later. He'd been training hard the last few days, and he hoped to do well this day. He then took the time to stretch for a few moments, making sure that none of his muscles would be stiff before he ran. He then turned to his friend, who already looked like he had an idea. Zachary raised a curious brow. "What is it?" he asked curiously, wondering what his friend had in mind.

His friend grinned, happy to see that Zachary was interested. "You should invite someone to run with us,” he suggested. He had thought he would propose something totally different, but the idea of having someone new to run with didn’t seem too bad. “Okay, then who should we invite?” Zachary asked. His friend then pointed at Luke. “Alright,” he said and made his way over to him.

no one quite knew luke's secret. no one knew the secret that he was gay. maybe that was why he was afraid to make friends in and out of the team. he didn't want them to see who he really was. so he wore a mask and he hid his personality for everyone. that was why he let everyone think that he was a snappy loner that no one wanted to talk to. luke was sure there were other guys like him at his school but he had always been taught that how he felt was wrong. that how he felt was something he would pay for. none of his family would support him, he knew that.

luke had finished up his stretching and straightened up. he dug in his bag and picked up his full water bottle. he was suppose to hydrate before and after he ran so he was doing his part. he felt like someone was walking up behind him and he saw two guys from the team. "can i help you?" he asked them, not trying to sound rude but he knew that he definatly did.

Zachary heard the tone in his voice, and considered inviting someone else instead. However, he stuck with his decision to invite him, since he shouldn’t judge him just yet. After all, he knew nothing about him. It would also be a great opportunity to make new friends. If he said no, it would be no issue and he would just go and invite someone else to run with him. ”No, not really,” he said in reply. “Well, you sort of can. Do you want to run with run with me and my friend for warm up?” he offered, and pointed at his friend behind him. Zachary’s friend gave a small smile and waved. “Of course, you don’t need to, but it’d be pretty cool having someone new to run with,” he added. He hoped that it was enough to convince him to run with them, or else he would’ve found it awkward.

surprised at being invited do to anything, luke's eyebrow raised a bit involuntarily. he wasn't really sure what to say because most people made sure to stay away from him, knowing that he was usually rude and defiantly a loner. half of his brain urged him to say yes, and the other half pulled him back to his roots of being a loner, almost forcing him to say no. never mind the civil war in his brain, luke had already decided what he was going to say. he nodded. "yeah, sure," he said coolly. he quickly put his water bottle away before making sure his sneakers were laced up well. "im ready whenever you guys are," he said. he wondered what this other guy's name was and what events he was in.

Zachary patiently waited for his answer. He wouldn't care much if he turned down his offer, but it was certainly great to get to know somebody on the team every now and them. He then smiled slightly at his answer, seeming happy that he accepted the offer. "Alright, that's great!" he said in reply. His friend jogged up to the two, seeming ready to warm up. "We're both ready, so you wanna start now?" he asked curiously, before realizing something. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your name?"
