Ethan got a hold of his stuff, watching as animals ran past them. His eyes widened as he grasped an idea of what was going on. “Oh no.. this is probably a wildfire, Kolh! We need to leave, now!”

Kolh hurriedly gathered up the snare wire and shoved it in his pockets. He started to follow the fleeing animals, trying not to trip as he limped.

Ethan took hold of his hand so he wouldn’t lose him, and started running. “I hope we make it through this..”

He couldn't answer. He was to busy trying to keep up. He gripped Ethan's hand, trying to keep his balance and not lose him.

Ethan gave his hand a soft, reassuring squeeze. He was sure that the both of them would make it out alive, with no burns. However, the strong smell of the smoke didn’t disappear.

Kolh started coughing, his lungs burning and his eyes watering. He pulled his shirt collar up over his mouth and nose. He stumbled through the forest, blinded by the thick smoke.

Ethan couldn't handle the smell anymore and quickened his pace. He soon felt the strong scent of smoke start to fade away. "I think.. I think it's gone."

Kolh feel to his knees, and threw up. He was feeling sick from the smoke.

"Hey man, are you okay?" he asked, worry clear in his voice.

"Smoke," he got out hoarsely. He lied down on the ground, breathing hard.
