river chuckled lowlu, letting lauren out of his arms only for her to be replaced by the youngest child. he carefully held eric, glancing down to mason once marcella left. "tell me a funny story about your sister." he grinned.

“well, one time she choked on a freezy-pop. she and kat were chugging them when they were half-frozen, and she started choking.” he laughed. “she was fine, as you can see.” he pointed at marci, who was lugging in a wooden crib. “you turd!” she said.

river chuckled softly at mason's story, turning to watch marcella drag a wooden crib. "do you need help, princess?" he questioned the girl curiously.

“but she’s not a princess!” mason called. “no, i’m all good. thanks, hon.” marci smiled, setting up the crib and taking eric from river’s arms, placing him gently in the crib.

river carefully handed eric over, looking to mason. "she's my princess." he spoke in response to the boy, glancing to marcella and grinning a bit.

marci rolled her eyes at mason, who started whining. “Marciiii I’m hungryyyyy!!” he whined. “ugh.” marci ran to the kitchen, grabbing a few graham crackers and giving them to mason. she sat next to river, leaning her head on his arm.

river watched as marcella got mason some food before sitting beside him. he wrapped an arm around her, placing a soft kiss to her forehead before looking back to mason.

“ew! cooties!” mason exclaimed, jumping up and running away. “mason! no food in your room! we don’t need mice!” she yepled after him, running, before lugging him down the stairs. “now sit at the kitchen table if you don’t want to see me and river.”

river snickered softly, watching as marcella pulled the kid back downstairs. he sent a text to kat explaining things briefly, telling her to be safe at the mall and call him if anything happened.

“sorry ‘bout him.” marci said, checking her phone. “no.” she looked at the next karmen had sent. “be right back, love.” she said, rushing off and calling karmen. “you can’t be serious.” she whispered urgently, hoping mason wasn’t around. “oh, okay.” she whispered.
