river sighed, letting his hand drop and moving back. he turned, opening his desk and grabbing the bottle of aspirin before tossing it to marcella. "there ya go."

'3 it is.' kat confirmed, checking the current time and deciding she had enough to relax a bit.

marcella popped a aspirin tablet in her mouth. “thank you.” she sighed, walking over to him. “i’m sorry i’m so weird, river.” she said, hugging him close. “i’m really sorry.”

river nodded his head, exhaling as she hugged him but nonetheless returning the embrace. "why won't you tell me?" he questioned, hand rubbing her back gently as he held the girl close.

“because im hella forward, okay?” she said, pushing her head into his chest. “i just am…” she bit her lip. “i want to tell you, but i can’t.”

river raised a brow at her words, continuing to rub her back. "so, don't tell me. pretend i'm kat and tell kat." he declared with a slight grin, a gentle chuckle rumbling in his chest.

“okay.” she grinned. “hey, kat. so i really really really really like river, and i might even sorta be falling in love, but i don’t want to scare him, and the realization scared me.” she flushed, looking down.

river listened carefully to marcella, a grin on his lips. "he's crushed on you for years. you think he wouldn't love you?" he responded in a gentle tone, peering down at the girl.

“i dunno.” marcella answered, looking up at river. “it’s just kind of scary, even if he does love me.” she paused. “right about now kat would gag and say “ew! thats my brother!”” she whispered to him.

river listened to marcella, laughing softly as she instructed him on what kat would say. "it's actually been river the whole time." he whispered back, as if it were some big secret.

“i know, but acting like kat did make it easier, and you did manage to get it out of me.” she smiled, sitting on his bed and leaning back. “now you don’t have to kill me.”
