river stayed quiet, letting the doctor talk with marcella. as it came time to check on the baby, excitement flooded his stomach once more as his eyes eagerly began searching the screen.

the doctor looked at the screen. “it’s a girl!” she exclaimed with happiness in her voice for the couple. marcella smiled at river. “another baby girl.” she said quietly, a grin on her lips.

a large grin spread across his lips as the doctor announced a girl, looking at the screen before to marcella. "estelle is gonna have a little sister." he murmured happily, eyes shining in delight. "and she's healthy, right?" he questioned the doctor. just making sure.

“yes.” the doctor replied, giving a towel to marcella to wipe off the gel. she wiped it off and stood up, walking out and paying. she ran her hands through her hair and sighed.

river followed marcella out after thanking the doctor. he raised a brow at the woman, opening the car door for her. "what's wrong?" river questioned curiously, head tilting to the side.

“i’m not going take the medicine. i know damn well it wont work. the other two didn’t, so will this one? no, i’m pretty damn sure it wont.” marcella said angrily as she sat in the car. “and i know damn well i’m going to have a hard birth with this kid.”

river sighed as he entered the car, shaking his head a bit. "you can't knock the medicine without even trying it first, marcella." he pointed out, pulling out of the parking lot and beginning to drive.

[ptolemaea]

“sure.” marcella rolled her eyes, walking into the pharmacy when they stopped. she got the medicine from the counter, walking out quietly and sitting back in the car.

river sighed at her attitude, waiting for her to return to the car before driving back home in silence. he got out of the car before walking into the house and heading upstairs.

marcella walked behind him. “are you okay?” she asked. she pulled out the bottle of medicine and walked downstairs to grab a glass of water. she popped two tablets into her mouth and swallowed them down.
