river hummed, watching as estelle was placed into the crib. he leaned over, looking at their sleepy girl and smiling happily. he shut the light out carefully, not wanting to both estelle's eyes.

marcella hugged river, then hauling out her mermaid painting. she hung it up quietly, not to disturb their precious baby. she walked out, walking to river’s room to relax.

river smiled a bit at the room, glad that it was now holding their baby. he exited the nursery, quietly shutting the door after turning the baby monitor on. he moved to his room, looking to marcella. "do you want anything, princess?"

“i want you to hold me.” she mumbled, looking over at him. “please?” she asked, sitting up with a smile. “i don’t want to be lonely.”

river nodded, turning their end of the baby monitor on and making sure the sound was up before moving to the bed, kicking his shoes off before getting into the bed, tugging marcella gently to his chest. "i won't leave you alone, beautiful."

marcella wrapped her arms around him. “i’m sorry about what happened back there.” she sighed, swallowing down the tears again. “i just don’t know about things these days.”

river kissed the top of her head. "you went through a lot today, marci. i just didn't wanna risk you getting hurt." he murmured, rubbing her back with a soft hum.

“i know, i’m just stubborn.” she laughed, kissing his shoulder. “i wanted to get out of there. just like when kat miscarried.”

river smirked. "im not gonna argue that," he teased with a soft laugh. as she spoke again, he nodded in understanding, gently squeezing her to his chest.

”i love you so much, river.” marcella told him, kissing him. “and let me say,” she paused, “our child is beautiful.” she laughed
