1 x 1 with Carmen

[Boomer]

Alessa forced a small, uncomfortable laugh at his question. She had no idea why she was punished for almost everything she did "wrong". The girl shook her head as she looked to Scarlett. "I wish I knew that answer..." she said solemnly, "If I knew, I'd stop doing whatever made her so angry all the time. But I don't know what I did wrong."

[carmen.]

"Huh." The girl seemed sweet and caring. Thunder roared again, but seemed weaker than the past ones. It definitely was nearing the end. "So, when would you like to head out and get other stuff for your room?" He asked, trying to change the topic to something more lighthearted.

[Boomer]

Alessa stood up and moved towards Carter. "Maybe in an hour or two?" she asked, "I-if it's okay, I'd like to take a small nap. I'm rather exhausted." The pup's eyes had dark circles under them; it was clear that she was tired. She hoped that Carter didn't mind that she wanted to rest first.

[carmen.]

"Of course you can!" Carter smiled. "You can sleep for as long as you want." Perfect time to read all of those medical files. He told himself. He certainly didn't want to do it, but he knew he had to.

[Boomer]

"Okay, please wake me up when you're ready to go." said Alessa quietly. She waved to Christina before leaving the room. Alessa ventured back to her room and quietly shut the door. She crawled under the quilt with Scarlett, then shut her eyes. It didn't take her long to fall asleep.

[carmen.]

Carter softly tapped one of the arms of his bed with his nail, waiting to hear Alessa's door shut. Once he did, he brought himself downstairs to retrieve the thick and overwhelming files. He brought himself into his working area and flipped through a few pages until he found something that had the least amount of words on a single piece of paper.

[Boomer]

As Alessa slept, she began to have one of her usual nightmares. The pup whimpered softly and began to toss and turn. It was only a few minutes later that she was crying out in her sleep. She was thrashing around and kicking the quilt off of her. She was still holding onto Scarlett. "No!" she cried, clearly in distress.

[carmen.]

After finishing one page, he heard the panting and sobbing of Alessa. He shot up and ran up to the stairs. He heard her cry out and entered the room, panicked on why she was freaking out. "Are you okay?"

[Boomer]

Alessa woke up in a panic as Carter woke her up. She wildly looked around the room before settling down. "S-she's... not here?" she asked, a little confused. She sighed in relief as she was safe in her room. "S-sorry..." she winced, looking to Carter, "I-I have a l-lot of nightmares."

[carmen.]

"It's alright." He plopped himself on the edge of her bed, noticing the terror through her glistening eyes. "You think heading out to the store will get your mind off of it?"
