[Boomer]

Mary only slept for a few hours before waking up several times during the night. She was awake by the time Jake got out of bed and went downstairs to cook. She stayed there, knowing she couldn't eat before the operation. She sighed quietly as she shut her eyes.

Jake hoped that she could get some extra sleep. He knew she did not sleep well at night. He walked upstairs to wake the pups and get them fed letting Maria sleep a bit longer with Mark before he would get them up if they did not wake up.

[Boomer]

The little pups didn't sleep that well either; they had nightmares about the surgery going wrong. The pups got out of their beds, then went downstairs. They walked into the dining room and sat in their seats. Alessa came out of her room, then went upstairs to have Mary draw her blood.

He gave each of the pups a plate of waffles that he had made for them all. He did not want them to know that the surgery had been moved up until after they ate so that he could keep things moving that morning. He did not want them running up to Mary before eating breakfast so she could draw Alessa's blood and then rest a bit more.

[Boomer]

The pups picked at their breakfast, not all that hungry. A few minutes later, Alessa came downstairs and took her iron pill. She then sat down and ate her breakfast just fine. She was always willing to eat. The little pups watched her for a moment, then ate a little more. They gave their scraps to Alessa, knowing she'd eat them.

Jake ate as well and then went to wake Maria to tell her what was going on. He did not think that the pups should sit around at the hospital all day so they would have to figure out what to do.

[Boomer]

Maria woke up from Eileen crying loudly. "Oh, c'mon Eileen..." she mumbled, rolling out of bed. She went over to Eileen's crib and changed her before feeding her. She sat on the edge of her bed as she fed the pup.

Mark woke up from Eileen. He sat up and smiled over at Maria. "Good morning." He said to her. He went and got the door when he heard Jake. He opened it just enough to talk to Jake. Jake told him about Mary and said they needed to figure out what to do with the pups. He thought they would get bored in the hospital all day. Mark said he would talk to Maria. He shut the door and told Maria what was going on.

[Boomer]

"Morning Mark." said Maria softly. She went to cover herself when Jake came to the door, but was relieved that Mark talked to him. She listened to them, or at least tried to. Once Jake left, Maria sighed softly. "I think I should really be there with her." she said, "At least before she goes under. Would you be willing to watch the pups and I'll come home once she gets into the OR?"

"Of course I will. I think that you should be there too but I agree that the pups should stay home. I do not think that they would do well in the hospital. You don't have to rush back. I can take care of them." He said to her. Mark kissed her cheek. "It will all be okay." He said to her. "I will tell Jake." He said and went to tell Jake the plan. He then came back up to Maria.

Jake went and told Mary the plan so she would not worry about that. He told her he would tell the pups. He did not want her to be stressed. He gently kissed her.
