Ashton stood directly in front of the Slytherin boy, noticing he was losing his attention. "Maybe," he smiled through his words, "you just can't stand that someone's better than you for once. I know you, and your entire house, are used to believing your better than everyone else. Trust me, I have a brother in Slytherin, he's just as bad as you are. Year eight, Ethan, maybe you know him, maybe not. If not, you two would get along quite well."

Rocking back and forth on his own feet, he watched the boy. He looked uncomfortable, something Ashton was good at making people. But he didn't mind. It wasn't him that was uncomfortable, so why should he have cared? And he didn't.

He smiled softly, voice cracking as he spoke, nothing the boy's annoyance. "What are you gonna do? Jinx me?"

jaxon's gaze snapped up to glare at the hufflepuff as the other boy said something about slytherins believing they were better than others. "We don't just believe we're better than everyone else. We know when we are because we aim and work to be the best." he stated without shame. It was true and he wasn't going to sugarcoat it. He recognized the name the other gave and suppressed a smile. He'd spoke to the older boy a few times, but he was mainly just know by everyone in the slytherin house since he was very popular. Jaxon certainly wouldn't have pegged Ethan and this boy to be siblings, though now that ashton had pointed it out jaxon could see the similarities.

his thoughts were brought back to the present though at the other's second statement and scowled over at him. "i very well could....." he muttered with another glare, though he didn't say any more or actually try to do anything about what they other had said.

"Well," Ashton said, voice full of snickering laughs he'd been holding back, as well as life, "why don't you do it then?" he asked, solely to spite the Slytherin boy. In all honesty, he'd always been spiteful towards him, but never wanted to tease him in fear of getting jinxed. But as Ashton began to tease, he realized the boy wasn't going to jinx him, for whatever the reason may be. Maybe he was scared of losing house points? He knew when he lost Hufflepuff points everyone was angry with him for days up to weeks. Maybe that was it. Surely that was it.

But then again, Slytherin's typically didn't mind losing house points. They knew they'd gain them back within a matter of minutes due to their charming and sly nature.

Shrugging gently, pushing his thoughts aside, he looked into the boy's hazel eyes. Seeming to get lost in them, he smiled gently. A smile that had crushed many hearts unknowingly. There seemed to be forests in his eyes, accompanied by the ocean and meadows. That was rare. Typically, people only had one of the three. Typically, people were only blessed with forests, oceans, or meadows. But this Slytherin had them all. Ashton had always been amazed with eyes, hazel being his favorite. Those with hazel eyes seemed to get the best of all three worlds.

jaxon huffed as the other questioned why he didn’t hex him. The slytherin didn’t actually want to for some reason, but he wasn’t going to admit that any time soon. ”You’re expecting it. You’d be able to block it before I even finished it, if you had any skill at all,” he stated curtly, looking up at the other with a slight frown. He could hear the laughter in the others voice and definitely didn’t like it.

However he soon noticed how the hufflepuff was looking at him and he tilted his head, brow furrowing slightly as he saw the other boy smiling softly. What had caused this? He held up a hand and snapped his fingers in front of the other. ”what are you staring at?” he asked.

(It’s no problem! And I g t things can get hectic and you forget to reply or something like that so it’s no big deal.)

Blinking rapidly and roughly as he felt the breeze from Jaxon's fingers snapping, he looked at the boy less intently. He bit his lip softly, "I- oh- nothing," his cheery persona died down for a bit. "Just your eyes are really nice. It's like you have everything in them. Forests, meadows, oceans. Everything."

Shutting himself up, he grabbed his bag he had placed on the ground, slinging it over his shoulder. He threw his other arm into the other sleeve of the backpack, "I've got to go," he said, "Hufflepuff things," he lied. He never was a good liar. Even with the simplest of things. "Bye!" he exclaimed, turning around, walking out.

He was sure the Slytherin boy thought he was ridiculous. Slytherins tended to pay attention to the outcome, the big picture, not the small events leading up to something. But Ashton, well, he focused on the little things. He focused on every little move he made, thinking if they were right, the outcome would have to be somewhat okay. But getting lost in someone's eyes, and then telling them that, especially a Slytherin! Wrong choice.

jaxon’s expression became confused as Ashton spoke. Forests? Oceans? Meadows? What was the other talking about? And why was he saying had all those things ‘in his eyes’. He was honestly left baffled and speechless as the other boy grabbed his bag and stated that he had to go: Jacon could immediately pick up the lie the hufflepuff gave him, which snapped him out of his stupor with a frown.

He watched the other walk out and shook his head. Whatever...... this was a one time thing and it wasn’t like he as going to have to have another conversation like this with Ashton ever again. He hurriedly finished with cleaning up and gathering his things before leaving the potions room. He had free period now so he’d be spending it in the library, getting work done.

He didn't want to really do much of anything. Deciding he'd just go grab a book from the library and read, he headed for the library, backpack swaying from side to side. He'd moved it from both of his shoulders to just his right one at some point, meaning he had less control over it.

When he reached the library, his small hands barely wrapped around the handle of the large door. He stepped in, looking around. Mesmerized. How could a library be so big? In all honesty, in all of his years at Hogwarts, he'd never ventured into the library. He saw no need as he'd never been big on reading or studying.

Making his way to the back of the library, Ashton's fingers trailed the spine of every book. Although he wasn't too big on reading, he loved learning things. But not things from books. More so things learned from curiosity. He wondered how many people had checked out the books, who all had checked out the books.

Ashton grabbed one of the books, skimming through it. It was about a girl in love with a werewolf, helping him cope with everything that came along with it. He smiled softly to himself, sliding down into one of the chairs near the back, but still visible to those immediately after walking in. Reading the book, he became more and more intrigued, even if this author's writing skills weren't the best.

jaxon had frequented the library many, many times over the past several years, since he'd begun attending hogwarts. most of the time he came to work on homework or to do research for papers for class, but he also loved to just relax in here with a fictional book when he could, since the library often felt warm and safe and comforting to him with it's tall shelves, cushy window seats and dimmed lighting. he was fairly certain he knew every knock and cranky of the place, even the reserved section, thanks to signed slips from teachers for extra studying and midnight trips that would have gotten him in deep trouble had he been caught. he never had been though, which always gave him a burst of pride when he thought about it.

he was grinning softly as he entered the library, though it disappeared as soon as he looked up and saw ashton sitting in one of the chairs in the back. hufflepuff things, huh? he didn't go and confront the other yet though, choosing to go hunt down the books he needed for the paper he had to write for charms class. He then deliberately sat in on of the larger window seats, not far from ashton, where he could make notes from each book to use in the paper.

Focused on his book, Ashton hadn't noticed the Slytherin he was avoiding walk in. Sure, he heard someone walk in, but many people had walked in after he'd gotten there. At some point, he grew tired of his book. At some point, he couldn't see past all of the grammatical errors and plot holes. He was only about five chapters in.

Standing up and shutting his book rather loudly, far louder than he expected, he shoved it back on the shelf in the spot it came from. Which was directly next to Jaxon. Not realizing Jaxon was the boy engulfed in homework, he turned, returning to his chair to grab his bag. After slinging the bag on his shoulder, he caught another glimpse of Jaxon.

He looks familiar.

After staring at the boy for a moment or two, his eyes widened ever so slightly. The Slytherin boy from before.

Had he seen Ashton? Was he angry? Did he know Ashton was lying about 'hufflepuff things'?

Ashton ducked past the Slytherin, heading for the door. He had the mentality of if I can't see you can't see me, meaning he covered his eyes, hoping the Slytherin wouldn't have seen him.

jaxon's head snapped up when he heard someone slam their book shut. how dare anyone interrupt the calm and quiet of his retreat? his gaze almost immediately landed on ashton who was standing up with book in hand, and he hurriedly went back to his work, waiting to see if the other boy would recognize him. at first ashton didn't and the slytherin couldn't believe the other boy was so inattentive that he wouldn't notice jaxon sitting right next to where he had just been, but then he sensed when the other paused and it finally seemed to click for the hufflepuff that jaxon was the one he'd been talking to and had lied to earlier.

jaxon looked up and watched as the other boy ducked past him and seemed to be avoiding looking at him. he frowned and glanced around before picking up his wand and silently using accio to summon a book from one of the shelves to him. the book flew right past the other's boy's face and into jaxon's hand, which would catch just about anyone's attention if it happened to them. jaxon caught the book deftly and smirked and raised an eyebrow as soon as the hufflepuff looked his way, the expression on his face showing he knew ashton had lied and that he'd caught him in his lie.
