Cadence sat down looking at her parents,"You needed to discuss something with me?" She tilted her head with a frown as her parents exchanged uncertain glances.

"Well... You know that little agreement the leaders made?"

"Yes.... What about it?" she asked blinking.

"Well... Um..." again exchanging uncertain glances,"You have been chosen to be that suitor..."

"WHAT!?" Cadence yelled jumping up from the chair loudly planting her hands on the table.

"Cadence... It wasn't our choice..."

"BUT IT WAS!" she breathed heavily,"I thought I was going to live a normal life! Not to be forced to be married to one of our enemies!"

"Cadence, you don't have a choice," they said looking up at their furious daughter.

She exchanged glances with her parents, and then began to stomp down to her room,"I honestly can't believe this!"

He took a few shaky breaths once his parents finished explaining his situation, only sensing disgust in his parents, no sorrow or remorse. It's not like it mattered, he would have to keep his manners. Clenching the tablecloth under the dining table with his fists, he forced a broad smile, gritting his teeth until they hurt.

"I suppose I have no choice?" He asked. It sounded both like a plea and a threat, especially considering his already strained relationship with his cold, hard parents. He released the cloth, his knuckles white with how hard he gripped the sheet.

No amount of bargaining changed their (or the king's) minds, no matter how long he pleaded, so he ran back into his room, slamming the door with a loud bang! Only then he noticed how hard he was breathing. He was in a panic and a rage all in the same moment.

She leaned against the door, this is the first incident in a long time that she had a real reason to cry about so she let it out, ranting to herself as she did,"Why me? Why with a human? Why couldn't it have been with someone like me? Or at least someone similar!"

Her tears rolled down her cheeks as she shrank against the door, burying her head in her knees,"I just can't believe this is happening... My parents had a choice and they bluntly took the one where I had to marry whoever this fool is..."

He lied down on his bed, sprawled out. After a few minutes of silent, defeated contemplation, he started yelling and screaming his lungs out. It's not like it mattered anymore, he would probably be living with his new undead, bloodthirsty wife! He spent hours shrieking and sobbing his misgiving at his parents until he finally had exhausted himself and lied back down, falling asleep to soon have troubled dreams.

Cadence had awoken on her bed, this was the first time she had cried herself to sleep. Unlike other vampires, she was able to sleep during the night, it was an unusual trait that neither of her parents had, but she liked it. She sighed, wiping her eyes, she felt her cheeks were covered with dry tears.

"What a night," she muttered.

She covered her eyes with her hands with a sigh,"What am I going to do??"

His eyes snapped open as his parents banged on his door. They walked briskly down the hall with the loud taps of their shoes before he could hear or process their words, but he assumed they were dragging him out to meet a vampire. How fun.

Automatically, he was preparing himself for the day, brushing his teeth and running a comb through his brown hair. When he stepped in front of the mirror, there were bags underneath his eyes. He tried to say ‘Great,’ but his voice had given out from the night before, and he could only manage a few cracks in his voice. Even better.
