"Why're you trying to make me hate you? I can be nice if I want to be, Darkness Girl," Maddox retorted, looking back out of the window. Now, the surroundings outside of the window were city-like. Sooner or later, their driver would be forced to drop them off in Manhattan and send them off on their quest.

“I’m not trying.” She said defensively. “It just happens no matter what I do to try and stop it.” She looked out the window. The car stopped and she stepped out quietly, slipping into the shadows, then leaping out as Maddox got out of the car.

As the car slowed to a stop, Maddox grabbed his backpack which lay at his feet and sat on the edge of his seat. The car came to a complete stop and he got out, wondering why Elena was already gone when he was out of the car. Feeling a pair of small hands on his shoulders, Maddox whirled around to face Elena with a scared expression. His face went blank and he frowned, crossing his arms. "Don't do that!"
