my precise and lithe footsteps allow for easy movement across the charred landscape. peering over my shoulder, crimson eyes desperately searching for xavier. "come on," i hiss once i catch sight of his figure, attention redirected on our destination. honing in on any potential guards. if we were caught, only the lord knew what they'd do to us. not that i'd let them take me, i break into an unnaturally paced sprint, dodging unforeseen bits of debris that withheld the potential to knock me off my feet. stopping upon realization xavier was fast, but couldn't match a vampire's speed.

xavier's eyes were slightly narrowed as he matched lilith's pace, slightly
paranoid at the prospect of being caught. sure, he could probably take on
any measly guards that came his way. but a larger threat lurked beneath
that weak trouble. as lilith dashed off through the debris, he focused his
gaze on what lay ahead, instantly teleporting to the cabin they knew all
too well. smirking, he leaned against the polished wood and waited for her.

i reach the spacious, deserted area a minute later. glaring slightly at a smug xavier, "yea whatever," i spat. already well aware he was going to tease me for being "slow". i shoved past him and grumbled as the ajar door creaked on it's hinges, a result of my attempted gentle push. the distasteful musty aroma left me breathing through my mouth. even after so many months i hadn't quite gotten used to the decrepit cabin, carefully maneuvering about so as to avoid taking the whole thing down. gesturing for xavier to join me, despite the obscurity.

holding in a laugh, xavier's grin ceases to fade as he watched her rather
aggressive entrance into the cabin. stalking calmly into the small room behind
her, he shut the door and leaned against it, his necklace swinging against his
chest as he did so. the very necklace that held her soul in a minuscule bottle
that was threaded onto it.

i stare at the osculating bottle momentarily, the faint red glow which was my soul seemingly peering back at me. i didn't have an issue with it, otherwise, i wouldn't have willingly granted him with it. of course, it carried a price. the deal agreed upon was my soul in exchange for his blood. "hear or catch anything?" i finally inquire, breaking the heavy silence that'd plagued the two of us as i examined my thoughts. "i didn't, but who knows," i shrug, walking off to the corner and surveying an object which had been left behind.

his eyes lifting to gaze at the blonde standing before him, he nodded.
"i managed to catch a few vampies crossing my turf the other day," he
muttered, feeling slightly bad for killing her own kin. without a second
thought, he grabbed her wrist, pulling her onto the couch nestled in the
corner, pulling her onto his lap and nestling his head into the crook of
her neck. "have you heard anything from your sire about the war?"

"mm, more vampires are being sent out, i'm afraid he wants me to join them." i mutter, sitting comfortably in his lap. i didn't bother responding to his previous comment, he didn't have much of a choice. it was either kill or be killed. the real question was: how far would the two of us go to protect ourselves? if it really came down to it, would we kill each other? if it ultimately meant our survival? love and war, a deadly combination, i reminded myself grimly. shifting my figure slightly to plant a kiss on his lips, lifting my hand and placing it on his cheek.

smiling arrogantly into the kiss, he nodded at her statement before pulling back
to look into her blue eyes. frowning ever so slightly, his eyes averted from her
gaze as he let his head fall back to rest on the cushion. an almost canine whine
erupted from his throat when she told him about her sire's eager preposition.
sighing, his position did not falter as he looked at her again. "my leader wishes
for me to take a full-time position as a guard."
