adaline remembers a lot of things, but one thing she does not remember is setting her alarm that loud. she reached for her phone, aggressively tapping the button to stop the buzzing. she fought the urge to drop her phone and go back to sleep, but she peeled open her eyes instead. she rolled herself out of bed and stood to her feet, flicking on her bedroom light as much as it pained her eyes to do so. blindly she made her way to her closet, grabbing an outfit quickly before heading to the shower. she freshened up before heading downstairs, grabbing her bag and a bar. she was quick, tugging her shoes on and grabbing her keys, slipping out of the house before her mother could pester her about her outfit choice. she hopped in her car and started driving towards the school.
the brunette pulled into her usual parking spot and stopped her car, exhaling and grabbing her bag. she stepped out and ran a hand through her hair, making her way indoors. she maneuvered her way through the mass of kids, finding her locker amongst the many others. as she was grabbing her textbook, she felt someone tap her shoulder. spinning to see who it was, she was greeted by one of her friend's face. jessica, a tall blonde female who somehow dominated every sport, grinned and patted the shorter girl's head, something she did a lot. it was a greeting that adaline somehow got used to overtime.

jessica started to ramble on about her upcoming history test, talking about how if she failed her parents wouldn't let her play lacrosse in the spring, which was outrageous because it was one of her favorite sports. with jessica, it seemed like every sport was her favorite. adaline simply listened, holding her textbook to her chest and trying to understand the jumble of words coming out of her friend's mouth. the sudden force of a teen boy pushed both jessica and addy into the lockers. the brunette let out a small grunt and braced herself for impact. she turned to see who had hit her but he got lost in the crowd. not for jessica. the blonde was not having it. "hey! do you mind?" she snapped, advancing into the crowd towards the male. adaline stupidly followed.

"jess let it go." the shorter girl mumbled, but jessica wasn't having it. "do you have any manners? you don't just go shoving people." the blonde growled. adaline quickly spun her friend around. "nope, no more of that. we're all buddies here. sorry bud, you go do your business. she's fine." addy said quickly as she moved her friend away from the boy. once the two were a safe distance away, adaline glared at her taller friend. "really? people get pushed in the hallway all the time, no biggie." the brunette said, crossing her arms over her textbook, hugging it to her chest. "yeah, you might get pushed but i dont." jessica said, jutting her chin out.

finally the two girls pulled apart, jess making her way to her history test and adaline making her way to her calculus class. sitting down in her seat she set her textbook on her desk and took her pencil out. then she let her thoughts wander. about anything really. dogs, music, food, that boy that pushed her. wait. she paused her thinking on the boy. she can't even remember ever seeing him before. was he new or something? pushing the thought away, adaline decided to focus on her teacher, quickly opening her textbook.

adaline had finished her test and was currently burying herself in her homework, working through some of the problems. the girl was so focused that she almost screamed at the sudden disturbance. her eyes widened and she gasped lightly as the pencil clattered on her desk. she turned to the source. oh. him. the new-kid-who-might-not-be-new-but-addy-has-never-seen-him-before-so-he-might-as-well-be-new. scowling slightly she grabbed his pencil, tossing it back to him.

addy finally finished up her homework, and just in time. the bell rang and she quickly booked it out of there. she had no idea if that new kid was really new, but he was getting on her nerves, which is really hard to do with someone like adaline. walking to her locker she swapped textbooks. jess returned, leaning against one of the nearby lockers to talk with her. "god that kid is annoying." adaline muttered after filling her friend in on all that had happened during her class.
