at first when will had moved in, zachariah was completely and utterly annoyed with the new development. you think he would be happy to finally see someone after years of being in the apartment by himself - which, to some extent, he was - but he was mostly just annoyed. so he sat in the corner of the room, back to the wall, arms crossed as he watched will move in his stuff. z had actually stayed like that for a few days, just watching whatever will was doing and rolling his eyes at stuff. within a few days he warmed up though and began to walk around the apartment once again, avoiding all contact with will. which it wasn't that hard, considering the other couldn't even see him. at first z thought of ways that he could scare the younger man but decided that he wasn't going to be a jerk about it all. plus, it was kind of nice to see a handsome face everyday instead of staring blankly into the darkness. within a month z had warmed up considerably to will, actually stepping closer to him and studying him. sitting down next to him as he read books and peeking over at the words that he was reading. watching him as he typed on his phone or laptop, reading whatever his fingers decided to type out onto the screens. sometimes when he was brave enough and had enough energy, he would open up his laptop and scroll through things. it made him feel as if he was human again, reading through everything that was happening in the world. he sort of missed being able to talk to people and generally just be around others. z was unaware as to why it took him so long to realize how damn lonely he was, but now that will had moved into his apartment, he never wanted him to leave. it was comforting now to have someone around him, even if the younger gentleman knew nothing of his existence. when zachariah finally decided that he was done just... being there to be there, he began showing signs that he was there. he started with cracking open the doors to the cabinets, which honestly didn't do much. flickering the lights was next, then straight up untwisting the light-bulbs from all the lights. it seemed he was only being an annoyance really, doing all of that, so now he's built up enough energy to actually speak. he was almost positive he had drained the whole battery from will's laptop trying to build up enough energy, which he would have to apologize for. and now here he is. z's eyes watched will from afar as he sat in a chair, foot nervously tapping against the floor. chewing at the inside of his cheeks, he wondered what he should say; simply go for a "hello?" or maybe he should just flat out say will's name to grab his attention. yeah, that sounded good. swallowing, z stood to his feet, taking in a breath as he approached will. once he was close - maybe a little too close - he began; "will," he said aloud, knowing that his voice would most likely be a whisper. he felt like an idiot; maybe he should've shouted so it would sound like a normal tone to will, but he couldn't take it back or anything.
