Fear The Walking Dead (1x1)

She heard the hiss of burning flesh before she felt the pain. She screamed, jerking away from the blade. It hurt. Her screamed ended in a whimper and she slumped on the ground, lightheaded and dizzy, still partly in shock.

[Light Bringer]

Troy dropped the machete to the side before going closer to Malia. "There we go, it's over. Malia, can you hear me?"

Malia pressed her palms over her face, then removed them, biting her lip.
"I can hear you," she whispered. "Did it work?" she asked, trying to sit up. Her head spun and she faltered.

[Light Bringer]

Troy looked at the wound and nodded his head. "Yeah, the bleeding stopped. You're going to be fine." He said, wrapping an arm around Malia and helping her stay up.

"That's good. Thank you, Troy." She glanced down at her injury, unable to look at him.
"So, what now?" she asked.

[Light Bringer]

"Well...if you agree, I will take you back to the others and try to find a car since you're in no condition to walk tomorrow." Troy explained.

[EchoOfShatteredIce]

"Alright," she agreed. Malia reached into her bag and pulled out a strip of cloth. She wrapped it carefully around her foot and pinned it together. She felt exhausted and thirsty. "Do you have any water?" she asked Troy. "Mine needs to be purified."

[Light Bringer]

"As a matter of fact, I do happen to have a little left." Troy said, opening his satchel bad and pulling out a small water canteen before handing to over to Malia. It was only roughly half full although it would be enough for her.

"Thank you." She took a sip and then offered it to him.
"Why are you being so kind to me? You don't even know me." She had met other survivors before, and they were ruthless and uncaring.

[Light Bringer]

Troy took the canteen back, taking a sip for himself before putting it away and answering. "Because, I'd like to think that when the world turns to crap, we should at least be able to turn to other people for help. We should be able to trust each other. Not fear each other or leave one another to die."
