maxel called over his shoulder that he was leaving, hearing confirmation from his father that he was allowed to go, followed by him telling him to not go anywhere before he met up with jax. before his father could finish his words, he closed the front door behind him, sighing heavily as he shook his head. if he was being honest, he was sort of surprised that his father wasn't rushing out the door along with him to see who his new bodyguard was. pushing his thoughts to the side, he took his phone out from his back pocket as he slowly stepped down the stairs, his other hand gliding along the railing to said steps. maxel wondered for a few moments time if he should call a cab or something, but decided against it and proceeded to put his phone back in his pocket. it was a nice day out and he was capable of walking to the nearest school, it wasn't like he was going to die or anything on the way there, especially since it was barely a mile away. maxel never had anybody try to harm him or anything and he had never seen anyone get hurt before, besides a couple of days ago when he had saved jax from a couple of guys that were jumping him. before his old guard could even step in, he was already on top of them, dragging them off and shouting for the others to stop. then his guard was the one to jump in and help, but maxel knew that if he hadn't done anything, then his guard wouldn't have, either. the man had then told maxel's father that his son was a damn brute and that he didn't need anybody's protection, so he had quit the job. his father, however, thought differently about it. he saw his son as some prissy and skinny teenager, not someone who was able or willing to fend off dangerous people. continuing his walking down the street, he kept his hands in the pockets of his jacket, deciding to stop at a nearby starbucks before going on to the school, despite his father telling him to go straight there and then go where he wanted to. after ordering his usual iced coffee, he exited the small shop before going on, taking a sip from the straw. he soon made it to the school, eyes studying the large building before actually beginning to approach the front of the building. maxel had never attended public school before, but he did recognize the building from passing it so many times. he sort of wondered how it was; probably a lot more fun than the boring private schools he was forced to attend. their school uniforms were absolutely atrocious and the people there were annoying and stuck-up. his parents always asked him why he didn't have any friends or a girlfriend and he would always shrug it off, but he would've rather set himself on fire then get to know any of those people, let alone be romantically involved with one of them. just thinking about it made him sick to his stomach. upon reaching the front of the school, maxel stepped up some of the stairs, tilting his head up a bit to stare up at the massive building. turning a bit, he sighed softly before retrieving his phone from his pocket and sitting at the top of the stairs, putting his legs on the lower ones. taking another drink of his iced coffee, he sat his phone down on his lap and waited for jax to arrive. it was kind of embarrassing to him that he was appointed another guard at the age of nineteen, but maybe jax would be cool and just be a friend to him rather than an all protective guard like the last one. or so he hoped.
