"What is it?" He asked her. "You don't have to be afraid to talk to me." He said to her. He cared about her.

Elena paused. “I-uh.” She didn’t know how to start. “I’ve just...Liked you for a while now. That’s all.” She said quietly, a blush forming on her cheeks.

"Oh..." Lukas said and rubbed the back of his neck. He was not sure what to say. He liked her but every time he dated, he ended up hurt. He did not want to do that and especially not with her. "I like you too but I don't want to date anyone..." He said to her.

“I know.” She looked down at her long manicured fingers. She stood up and looked at Lucas before walking out for a bit. “Good run, Elena. Congratulations for screwing everything up again!” She said, and started to walk around.

Lukas sighed when she ran out. He wanted to give her some space but after a while, he texted her and said that he was sorry he was not ready to date anyone and probably would never be because he was tired of getting hurt and that she was welcome to come back to his room. He laid on the bed and watched the ceiling.

Elena texted him back. ‘It’s okay. I totally understand. I’m sick of screwing stuff up.’ She texted back. She started to jog around town

He did not look at her text. He just tried to relax and figure out what he wanted to do.

Elena jogged around before going back to her car to drive around.

He knew that dating was only going to hurt him but he also felt like things wouldn't be the same between them. He thought he would be better off on his own.

Elena drove to her apartment and packed a bag. SHe was leaving tonight.
