I couldn't sleep that night. His face kept appearing in my head, and so was his smile. Oh how I loved his smile. I can't, though. I can't believe I get to see him almost everyday even though he makes me want to rage. His attitude is hilarious and i can't believe I get to witness it. He can't like me, and neither can I. Why do I care so much for him? He does so much wrong to this world... but... it's because he didn't know what to do. When you gain your powers, you have the choice to become a hero and a villain. He chose his path, and I chose mine. I wished he chose being a hero... then i'd be able to be with him. I need to stop. Stop! Why am I thinking about him again? Cut it out, Dawn... He's just a stupid boy with a stupid face and errrr. I couldn't stop. I can't. He's perfect in every way describable in pure honesty.

I had a dream that night. It was a memory, actually; when I switched schools, I tried to contact Dawn. I had her phone number, so one day after school I called her. She was out of the hospital and already doing well. She sounded excited that I called when she picked up, but as I started talking to her, trying to apologize... her voice darkened. She told me that I didn’t deserve forgiveness and that she was shocked that we were friends in the first place. The last thing she said before she hung up was, “I hope I never see you again.” It looks that things have changed, though.
I was no longer mad at her after the dreaded phone conversation, just depressed. Eventually I got over it, and after a while my anger returned. When I got angry enough, I robbed a Toys R Us. Then we started seeing each other frequently. But the next time I see her will be the last.
Next time, I will kill her.

[Trots]

Later that night, I heard an alarm go off on my phone. I needed to help. I jogged to my phone and looked at it, seeing it was a warning. Wanting? For who? Jeremy? Nah. I read through the information, raising a brow. A clothing store? Who would rob a simple clothing store? Oh well. It was my job. I ran out of my house and used my super speed, running through the city. At one point, I tapped the amulet on my chest. I sped up and jumped, my outfit turning into my suit. My large sword appeared in my hand and when I dropped to the ground, I was in front of the clothing store. My sword went through the concrete so I pulled it out with ease. I walked inside the building to see a dark figure with glowing eyes staring back at me. Jeremy. He was there.

"Good to see you, Dawn," I slurred. I had used my magic to enhance my sight, giving me night vision. They must have been glowing in Dawn's eyes. I took a step forward, the bag of money I'd collected swinging in my hand.
Dawn smiled. "Hey, Jeremy," she said. She also took a step forward.
Now I backed up a step. "Hey? Is that it? If you were a real hero, you would have me in handcuffs or even killed me the second you stepped in here!"
Dawn looks stung. "Jeremy-"
"Stop. You can't keep calling me that, either. I've chosen a villain's name." My eyes flash, and darkness pools in my hands. "Ebony."
Dawn snorts. "That must be the dumbest name I've ever heard."
I get angrier than I did the day she laughed at me on Valentine's Day. "The only thing that's dumb is how terrible you are at your job. Not once, in all the times I've robbed somewhere, have you caught me."
Dawn frowns. "Jeremy-"
"Call me Ebony!" I snap. "Actually, you won't need to call me anything at all. Because this will be our last fight." I shoot a black tentacle at her, and it wraps around her throat, lifting her feet off the ground and strangling her. "Though you won't be able to put up much of a fight. I'm much stronger than you. And you seem to think we're friends after yesterday. But we're not. We never have been. Not even when we were kids."
"E-Ebony!" Dawn chokes. I tighten my grip, and her red face turns purple. Her limbs start flailing as she loses control of her body.
"It's too late for you," I coo. "Goodbye."

[Trots]

I feel the pain. It wasn’t of me failing to breath, it was my heart breaking. Breaking. Gone. He doesn’t like me. Death. Die. DIE! I shook my head and pushed past the force. I fell on my feet and I used my sword to support my weight. I looked at him and he looked back at me with a smirk. “You will die, Dawn, even if you try.”
“We’ll see about that.” I ran over and slashed his arm with my sword. He yelled and looked to the large wound that began to gush blood. My eyes turned a dark blue as I listened to people outside watching and video taping the fight. He grabbed my arm and pulled me against his chest, choking me with his hand. I whimpered and closed my eyes, calming myself so it would help me fight. Calm. Stay calm. Kill. Stay calm and kill. I used my leg and wrapped it around his, throwing him to the ground with my body weight. He tried to shuffle to his feet, but before he could move, my sword was in his chest.

My chest exploded with pain. I had a strange condition that came with my powers, so whenever I felt pain, I could see red and/or black swirls in my vision. It varied depending on how bad my wound was. Right now, basically all I could see was red. I screamed at the top of my lungs and ripped the sword out of my chest. I couldn't see; all I could do was feel. My heartbeat pounded in my ears, and I limped to my feet.
"Whoa," I heard Dawn gasp. I guess she thought I was down for the count, but it would take a little more than that to kill Ebony. Jeremy was dead. Only Ebony was left in his place. My body was enveloped with black, and I became one with my powers. I levitated off the ground, my wound stitching itself back together as I zapped Dawn with my powers. As she fell backwards, she shot me in the shoulder with her powers. It hurt much more than the knife wound did. We both collapsed, and just before I passed out, I croaked, "I guess I underestimated you. Maybe we're more equally matched than I thought..." Then, the red in my face faded to black, and I was out.

[Trots]

I couldn't believe it. Did I win? No. He was still alive, right? He had to be! He can't be dead! What was I thinking?! I ran over, dropping my sword as news reporters and policeman gasped in surprise. Tears filled my eyes as I cupped his face with my right hand, checking his pulse with my left. Nothing. No. No. I winced and took a deep breath. I had to try. Tears blocked my vision but I tried my best. I leaned down and pressed my mouth to his, breathing out. I departed my lips from his and began to push on his chest. It took me a few times before he started to breathe. I breathed in relief, but the tears wouldn't stop. STOP! They wouldn't! I began to lift him up, looking around to see no one daring to help. Everyone was too scared of Ebony. I used all my strength and held him close, using my super speed to run through the city with ease. I didn't care for the money, nor my sword, nor myself. I cared for Ebony. I cared for Jeremy. I brought him to a hospital. No one would dare touch him, barely look at him, so I had to do it all myself. I laid him onto a bed and used most of my power to heal his wounds. I was exhausted by the time i finished putting a needle in his arm for liquid to run through his veins. I collapsed. I closed my eyes, and hoped. Hoped that he'd be okay.

The moon was high in the sky when I awoke. Every part of me hurt. I felt something resting on my legs and heard gentle snoring. I leaned up, holding back a cry of pain, and looked over to see Dawn. She was asleep on my legs. Did she bring me here to heal me? I felt my face flush. No! Why did I feel like this about her? I tried to get up, but I accidentally woke up Dawn. What would she say?!

[Trots]

I woke from his leg moving. My face planted against the bed and I stood up, rubbing my eyes quickly. Was I drooling? I wiped the saliva from my mouth that ran down my chin. I must look like an idiot from the way he is looking at me. "Good morning." I'm tired. My vision is blurred sense my powers are no where near regenerating after healing him, and I still wasn't done. "Are you alright?"
"No. You almost killed me." He snarled and looked away, trying to hide his red cheeks. I smiled a bit. Does he care? I hope he does. I take a step forward and focus. Focus. I place my hand to his head. A blue light shined, calming his brain cells which went down to his sore area's. This helped the pain fade away. If I did it correctly, he'd no longer feel any pain afterwards. Once I finish, my eyes go black. Someone. Don't let me fall. I begin to collapse once more, but before I hit the ground, warm arms wrap around me, pulling me against a warmer chest.

She was so weak that she would've died had she hit the ground and her head split open. I could have let her fall, and she'd have been out of my life. But instead, I jumped out of the hospital bed and grabbed her before she hit the ground. She was unconscious. Why did she waste her powers and strength on me? And why did I save her? My cheeks burned redder as I tucked her into the bed. It wouldn't be fair to kill a hero when they were sleeping. I'd only kill her when we were equally matched. Besides, she was a girl. I was just biding my time until I struck. I limped out of the room, shutting the door behind me. She needed medical help more than I did. I left a note on the door for the doctors and disappeared.
