- will has officially had the worst valentine's day ever. their car broke down, they got fired, and what was initially supposed to be a cutesy, romantic date to an art exhibit ended terribly when their partner broke up with them right in the middle of things. seeing them completely break down, cesc, who had decided to romance themself this valentine's day, takes pity on them and asks to be their date the rest of the night. turns out, things go much, much better than either could have anticipated.

William Anderson already had a bad day. First, on the way to work, his car broke down, which instantly filled him in a bad mood. He already had a hard time getting to work, and was usually late everyday because of traffic.
As bad enough as that was, when he arrived at his work, he got fired because he could never get there on time. Will had come home completely defeated, the only exciting thing being his date with his boyfriend.
When they got to the art gallery, he could tell that his date had wanted to tell him something. They had been together for two years, so Will was hoping for the best. "What is it you want to tell me?" he asked. "I can tell you want to say something." He smiled, thinking perhaps Daniel was going to give him a present, or propose.
Instead, he got the opposite.
"We need to break up."
Will laughed it off at first, thinking that Daniel wasn't serious. After a conversation that lasted about five minutes however, Daniel walked away from Will, leaving the boy to his own thoughts- and feelings. Will's eyes teared up as he looked after Daniel, and slowly found a bench in a corridor to sit on. William took off his small delicate flower crown, not feeling happy enough to wear it, and began to cry into the sleeve of his over-sized sweater.

Cesc had been single for a long time now. A long time. And frankly, he was loving every minute of it. Not having to live up to someone else's expectations was such a great feeling, and it left him with a lot of free time. Especially on days like Valentine's day. The past couple of years now, Cesc had been doing his own thing instead of third wheeling for other couples. Going to movies he wanted to see, having a nice dinner at a restaurant, and this year, going to an art gallery. Cesc never really felt like the odd one out when surrounded by couples. Self love was just as important, in his opinion. And every now and then, you have to do something nice for yourself- like stare at interpretive art until your head aches and you aren't sure what's real anymore.
When he got to the gallery alone, he received a sympathetic look from the woman at the desk, which he completely ignored. He took his time walking through the exhibits, studying each piece of art on his own time. However, as he passed by a corridor between two exhibits, he heard someone sobbing. Cesc stopped in his tracks, looking down the hall at the white haired person who was sitting on a bench, crying into their sweater. A pang of pity hit him right in the chest, and Cesc sighed, making his way over to the person. Curse him and his bleeding heart, right? "Are you okay?" he asked as he sat down next to the stranger. What an awful question. "What's wrong?"

After a few minutes of almost-silent sobbing, he heard a voice. "Are you okay?" somebody asked, sitting down next to him. He looked up to see a kind, concerned face. "What's wrong?" the stranger asked.
Will just shook his head, looking back down at the ground and holding his head in his hands. "My boyfriend," he whispered. "Two years, two years we were together. I planned this wonderful date, because I know that he liked art. In the middle of it he just decides to dump me."
He took a shaky breath, running a pale hand through his silver hair. "I also lost my job and my car's in the shop right now, and today, all in all, has just been the most unfair day I have ever experienced," he said, his voice failing. "On Valentines day too," he whispered. His green eyes were teary as he sniffled and looked back at the stranger. "I'm William," he said with a half-hearted smile, "In case you were wondering."

Cesc frowned, listening to what the other person- William- had to say, then sighing, before speaking again. "Your boyfriend... ex-boyfriend... sounds like a total jerk," he said, knowing that was probably not the most comforting thing to say, but struggling to come up with something else. Needless to say, his day had gone a whole lot better than William's had.
Shifting so he could better face William, Cesc ran a hand through his own short hair, then offered the stranger a small smile. "You know, you don't need people who do that kind of thing in your life. You seem like a pretty okay person, you can do better. And I'm sure things will turn out fine with your car and your job. Some days are bad days, and that's normal, but don't let it bring you down too much." Cesc gave the best advice he could, then looked around the room at all the couples walking around the exhibits, being grossly lovey-dovey with each other. He was really going to regret this, he was sure, but he had always been a compassionate person at heart, and seeing William cry was tugging right on the heart strings. "If it helps any, I'm here alone to-night, too. Maybe you could be my date for the rest of the museum. That way, neither of us are here alone," he offered, cringing at the way he worded the question. Smooth, so smooth. Still, there was no way Cesc could not offer.
