the raven-haired man stood before the window of his sleeping quarters in the first order's ship, his cold gaze watching the planets and asteroids move past the ship as it slowly made it's way through the galaxy. his fist clenched and his teeth gritted together, thinking back to the past events that had changed his life. he remembered how he let rey go, how he watched her ship leave as he did nothing but watch. he should have ordered the storm troopers to shoot it down... but he didn't. he had hesitated. snoke was right about him, he was too soft for his own good. he now decided to turn to his training once again, trying to become more ruthless and cold, since his emotions led him to the light that he hoped had died out by now. but it hadn't, and he knew he had to dim that light to nothing but a memory. he had never found the warm glow of light welcoming, for some odd reason, but he knew it only pulled him closer. he shook his head to clear his mind, and turned on his heel to walk out of the room. as he did so, the storm troopers guarding either side of his door went stiff, heads up and weapons held proud. kylo snickered silently, and walked off down the corridors to find his rival, general hux, to see if he had any news about the resistance's whereabouts.

it hadn't been too long since the battle on crait but rey felt like it had been years. the resistance was dying and it would be dead if they didn't start recruiting soon. no one had responded to leia's personal message but maybe she could find people if she went searching on her own. she had went to cantonica, hoping to find anyone who was willing to join their cause. she had come to this planet in particular because rose and finn had been here before and they had told rey that many of the people were wealthy. the resistance needed any money they could get so she just hoped that someone rich would be on their side. rey walked into the huge casino that was one of the hotspots of the planet. it made her nervous to be around so many people, some who could be working with the first order. she looked around at all of the people and other creatures. she looked at everyones clothes, knowing that some people would attach secret symbols to their clothing to show which side they were on. as she continued to walk, she heard whispers about the resistance. damn, if the first order didn't already know she was here, they would know now.

general hux grew stiff as kylo ren entered the main control center of the ship, aswell as the other people in the large room. kylo narrowed his eyes expectantly at the general, who cleared his voice and did the usual glare towards the new supreme leader. ``any news for me, general?`` he asked, crossing his arms as he waited for a response from the bitter man before him. ``yes... sir...`` he hissed, almost like addressing kylo in a significant way was like poison to him. after a moment of awkward silence, hux finally spoke once more. ``rey has been spotted on cantonica. we already have the ship heading towards the outer rim.`` he said, voice proud and smooth with none of the hesitance that was recently there. kylo nodded, having nothing to use to insult the general this time. he stood and watch the others until they got to the desert planet.
when they got to cantonica, a smaller, less suspicous ship was sent down to land. kylo had insisted that phasma would bring him with her, as he didn't want rey to get away this time. he knew she had raw talent for the force, but he knew she hadn't came close to completing her training, or the beginning of it. kylo could bet that luke was hesitant to teach her the full power of the force so early, and kylo knew aswell that he had never gotten the chance to. the stormtroopers spread out, with one accompanying kylo as they searched through the casinos and such. as the people went quiet when he entered a casino with phasma and the stormtrooper, he knew something was off about this particular casino. he could feel the force had changed in the atmosphere when he entered, as if another powerful force-sensitive being was here. he narrowed his eyes as he saw a flash of brunette hair through the crowd of people. he scowled, immediatley knowing it was rey. he hovered his hand over his lightsaber, hearing people shouting the name 'kylo ren' made his blood boil aswell, since they had now most likely alerted those that were his enemies, including rey, of his prescence.

though rey knew she had been spotted, she knew she couldn't stop now. if she was going to get caught, she was at least going to make a scene. she was honestly surprised that people knew who she was. sure, some people knew her name but hardly anyone knew her face unless they were actively looking for her. based on the bounty put on her head, there were many people looking for her. even if they did know what she looked like, she had changed things about her appearance. mostly that she was actually wearing clothes that would help her to blend in. she wore a short blue dress and wore her hair down, hiding her lightsaber in the small purse she had brought. she still felt out of place and felt even odder because she was in clothes that were so out of character for her.

as she walked through the casino, her eyes scanned across all of the people. apart from trying to recruit new members for the resistance, rey was also trying to find an older man by the name of erik roz'il who had been a pilot for the rebels and was known to have retreated to cantonica in older age. he was also known to have spoken out against the first order and was very wealthy. she hoped that if she could find him and tell him the state that the resistance was in then he would be able to donate money to help them or at least point her to more people who may be willing to join the resistance. rey started to feel the atmosphere of the casino change around her. her eyes flashed across the crowd who seemed to be whispering and breaking off into small groups. around the room there was a murmur of one name, kylo ren. her eye shot to the entrance and saw him walking through the door, followed by two stormtroopers. no doubt they had every entrance covered, so rey would just have to fight her way out. she felt so stupid about to fight stormtroopers in this outfit but she had to. she quickly pulled her lightsaber from her bag and walked towards a backdoor. she wouldn't run until they had spotted her.

the dress was a surprise to kylo, as he knew how rey usually dressed, sticking to her jakku-styled clothing of choice. he pushed away the thought that the dress looked relatively fit on rey, and he felt a smirk creep onto his face as rey stalked away, her stride calm and confident. his gaze determined and his face showing slight irritation, he pursued the woman who gave him the scar he had chosen to keep as to remember the fated battle between them both. as stormtroopers spotted her and also went after her, kylo felt a tad bit of annoyance. he gave the signal not to kill her, but to capture her alive, and not in a body bag.

the dark haired, yet pale, man quickened his pace and lit his lightsaber, which the red beams now raged from. as they strode toward their target, he heard whispers and startled murmurs as the spectators gathered in large numbers, curious as to what may be happening. one man, seemingly older, had the guts to stand up for the oddly dressed jedi, and received with no hesitation from his punisher, a red lightsaber to the arm. as rey got further away, the sith and the stormtrooprs became more desperate and began shooting at her wit their plasters, kylo hot on her trail.

rey felt his eyes on her, he was right behind her, watching her every move. she didn't dare turn because if he had any doubt that it was her, then he wouldn't when he saw her face. she couldn't even force herself to look at his face, to see the scar that she had given in him their first battle. she could feel the irritation inside her, now knowing that they still had their bond through the force. he was getting even closer and she knew she couldn't keep her slow and confident pace. so, when she heard the stormtroopers also following her, she bolted towards one of the exits.

as she ran, she pulled her lightsaber out of her bag and then lit it as she continued to run. she dodged the blasts that were showered towards her and kept running, suddenly glad she had warn flats instead of the heels that she had been offered. she kept running until she made it to the back of the casino. she was cornered. a group of stormtroopers on either side of her and kylo ren in front of her. behind her was a huge window that over looked a waterfall. now she had two choices, cut the window and jump or let herself be captured.

raven hair blowing to the side, his dull eyes tinted red from the menacing lightsaber he held, he knew this would be it. this was his one chance at proving hux and the others wrong. he wasn't soft. he would take rey, dead or alive, as prove of his tainted heart. but still... there was that annoying pull to the light...

as he narrowed his eyes, observing and calculating any possible escape routes, he concluded only one possible escape. the window. ``you wouldn't be that dumb, now would you, scavenger?`` he sneered, already knowing she knew full well that jumping through the window would be her only way out. ``you could easily die from such a height as this.`` he said, flexing the hand that held the lightsaber, attempting to relieve the tension in his bones and muscle from the firm grip he had on the weapon. he motioned for the stormtroopers to ever so slowly surround her. ``just give in, and no harm will come to you...`` he said with a slight smirk. 'yet' he finished in his mind.

'scavenger', after so long the name was still stuck on rey's back. sometimes she wore it like a cloak to hide who she really was and sometimes she used it like a hidden dagger, to surprise them. right now, it just felt like a target on her forehead. he made her feel venerable. she couldn't let herself look weak, she couldn't effort it. she stood her ground, gripping her lightsaber's handle so hard that her knuckles began to turn white, distress written all over her kind face. she backed up a little more, wanting to make it evident that she wasn't coming to him that easily. she was going to try getting out of this, even if it meant she died doing just that. 'dumb', she was not.

she knew she couldn't turn her back on him, she'd be dead meat. she felt the feeling of the slippery glass window behind her. with a quick flick of her wrist, a click of her button and a slash of the like, the sound of the glass shattering was all she could hear. and then with one step back, she was on the edge. finally, a push. falling, the world passing around her. she felt like she was being sucked into a void. she could see her brown locks flowing around her fast. her arms and legs were outstretched, the fabric of her dress fluttered in the wind. was this the end or the beginning? who could tell.

as the younger being jumped, ren's brows furrowed and he found himself cursing under his breathe. he clicked his lightsaber, the brilliant red glow vanishing in a mere second before he signaled for the storm troopers to get down there as quick as possible. he could jump after her, but in his mind some who may see would take it as a 'heroic action' made by the black-haired man. he made a sound similar to an enraged roar and a growl, gripping the handle again as the red light returned. he threw his arm to the side, the red glow connecting with a wall, the roof beginning to collapse as he jumped out the window. he knew he couldn't fall to catch rey in time, since that would make an easy capture, so he swung to the left and found his feet planted on a small section of grass next to the waterfall. looking down, he would watch her plummet, narrowing his eyes as he did so. he couldn't help it. his rage would always end up consuming him, and he knew it had done so again. he let out a low sigh, beginning to run down the incline that led to the lake in which the waterfall endlessly fed with clear blue water. he stood at the edge of the water, the gentle 'waves' lapping at his covered feet, eyes scanning the area for the jedi, while the storm troopers searched elsewhere.
