"true. i doubt anyone would believe us. we need to be careful. if they find out what we know, we're dead. especially me.
i'm the only one who knows all about harvey's past." grayson looked around. the moon was high in the sky. "we'd better get back to our dormitories. i don't want to end up with detention tomorrow because we're out of bed." he said, starting to walk off in the direction of the slytherin common room/dorms. "bye skylar." he called quietly over his shoulder.

Humming under his breath in agreement, Skylar turned, to start walking back to the Hufflepuff common room. They would have to figure something out later. "Bye, Grayson," he responded, finding the whole situation rather odd.
Once he was back at the Hufflepuff common room, he walked straight up to his dormitory, where he found everyone already asleep. This, he was relieved by, for he was sure that he had been gone longer than he usually was, and if any of his dormmates had been awake, then there would be no escaping their interrogation as to where he'd been or what had happened. He wasn't sure if he could really tell anyone else what had happened, as he was certain that they wouldn't believe him. He soon fell asleep, but it wasn't particularly easy to do - especially with so many thoughts about the recent events swirling around his head.

grayson entered the dormitories. everyone else was asleep, as expected. he lay down, but stayed awake almost all night. thoughts raced through his mind. he didn't want his brother to hurt anyone, or hogwarts to be in danger. he had no idea what harvey wanted, but if it came down to it, he'd do anything to protect hogwarts and its students — especially skylar. he hated to admit it to himself, but he didn't want anything to happen to the hufflepuff. grayson felt awful for dragging him into this mess, and if skylar happened to get hurt, grayson would never forgive himself.

The next morning, Skylar woke up early, thoughts of the previous night quickly returning to him. He felt incredibly confused over them, for he found himself thinking of Grayson, and what he'd said, and an underlying need to protect him from Harvey started to bubble up. He pushed it away - he was just concerned for a fellow student, that was all. One of the other Hufflepuffs, who'd just woken up, asked him where he'd got to last night, and Skylar just said that he'd returned just before curfew and saw the others asleep. He couldn't tell them what he'd heard... not yet. Not without proof.
Getting himself ready for the day, Skylar waited in the common room for the rest of his Hufflepuff friends, then the group set off to the Great Hall for breakfast.

grayson had barely gotten any sleep — something he was used to. back at home, only a few hours of rest was common, and grayson was used to it. he got up before the other slytherins, got ready, and exited. he began walking toward the great hall, a glare plastered onto his face. he often attempted to make himself look angry and unwelcoming as to keep unwanted visitors away. it proved to be useful when he passed by a group of second years. one had tried to talk to him, and he gave her a foul look. she ran away, practically crying. while he may have seemed daunting on the outside, he was an anxious wreck on the inside. he was absolutely terrified, scared for the future of hogwarts and its students with harvey around. grayson ran out of time to think as he entered the great hall.

It seemed that everyone had settled into Hogwarts enough now, seeing as it was the second day of classes, and mostly everyone was making easy conversation in their friend groups. Skylar was slightly surprised as a second year ran past him and his group of Hufflepuffs, seemingly almost in tears. Wondering what could have happened, he - and a couple of others - glanced the way that the girl had come from. Skylar caught sighr of Grayson, and it looked as though he was in a foul mood again. Somehow, this wasn't really much of a surprise to Skylar, but one of the Hufflepuffs in his group lightly elbowed him and whispered, "Looks like your friend is scaring students again." There was a small eruption of laughter from the others, and Skylar just blushed, embarrassed, but he couldn't quite bring himself to say anything.

grayson sat down at the slytherin table and his friends arrived shortly after. well, he wouldn't exactly call them friends, more like acquaintances. grayson never really had a "true friend." instead he hung around with other slytherins in attempt to fit in. he was mean to others just to please the people who accepted him into their "friend-group." he half-listened-in on their conversations, scanning the great hall. he saw the sobbing second year being comforted by her friends, and almost felt annoyed. even a lower grade like her had friends. then he caught a glance of skylar, looking a bit flustered and embarrassed. grayson chuckled a bit. "what's funny?" one of the other slytherins asked, following grayson's gaze and smirking. "staring at your hufflepuff friend, eh?" grayson glared at him. "n-no, i was laughing at the second year down there." he pointed to the sniffling girl. "scared her on my way in." the other slytherin boy rolled his eyes. "first years are better targets." was all he said before turning away. grayson let out a soft sigh of relief and buried his head in his hands. thank god it was almost time for the first class of the day.

At least the light teasing did not last any longer - the other Hufflepuffs scoffed at the idea of Skylar being friends with any Slytherin, let alone Grayson. This was, in a weird way, something of a relief, because he wasn't sure how he'd be able to explain the recent events. Skylar sat down at the Hufflepuff table, and he picked up a couple of slices of toast to eat. There wasn't really a lot of time before the first class - which, for him, was Herbology, and he was really looking forward to that. Then, he was going to have Care For Magical Creatures, which he was also looking forward to. At least he'd brought his bag down as well, because he was sure that he would have otherwise not had to time to run back to his common room to get it before Herbology.

Once he'd finished eating, Skylar stood up, with a couple of other Hufflepuffs, and left the Great Hall. He went outside, and made his way towards the greenhouses.

grayson finished his food and was about to head to his first class when he realized he didn't even remember what it was. the events of last night had made him completely forget. from under the table, he checked his timetable that had still been folded in his pocket. turns out he had herbology. not his favorite class, but also not the same class as the other slytherins. he didn't want to arouse any suspicions about skylar and last night, so being away from his "friends" would probably be a good thing. "bye grayson" said the boy he'd been sitting next to. grayson nodded to him before leaving the great hall. he began to walk toward the greenhouse. upon entering, he immediately spotted skylar and his hufflepuff friends. great. suddenly, class with his fellow slytherins didn't seem so bad. grayson stood at the edge of the room, next to a slytherin girl he recognized, in an attempt to avoid skylar; he didn't want to have to deal with all the teasing he'd receive for trying to talk to him. instead, he focused his attention on the slytherin girl, chatting it up about whatever came to mind, trying to get skylar off his mind.

Skylar stood at a table in Greenhouse 3, with the Hufflepuffs that he'd walked with, which was right towards the front. He didn't want any distractions from Herbology. He did glance back, when he heard some other students walking in, and he spotted Grayson with some other Slytherins. He hesitated, then he returned his focus towards the front of room, waiting for the professor to arrive.
When she did, she greeted the class, welcoming them back, then she went onto talking about what they would be working with today - Snargaluffs, which looked much like a gnarled stump, and they were going to be required to collect the pods from inside them, and the contents of these pods extracted. The professor instructed that they all worked in groups of at least two or three, since the plants would attack when provoked. Skylar teamed up with the Hufflepuff he was next to, and he turned his attention to the Snargaluff in front of him. He carefully placed a hand on top of the plant, stroking it gently, and murmuring to it, as if to reassure it for some reason or another. The thorn-covered vines did shoot out, in an attempt to attack Skylar, but he firmly slapped them away. This repeated a couple of times, Skylar remaining quite calm, though he got more stern with telling the plant off, until the vines stopped attempting to attack him, and instead cowered away. He put his hand inside the plant, and managed to grab one of the pods, and then handed it to the Hufflepuff he was working with - who would break the pod open to extract and collect the tubers inside it. Skylar patted the Snargaluff, before getting out another pod.
