He mostly ignored Daniel, only picking up words mow and again. Eventually he released. Though he felt had probably talked a bit too much, he wasn't going to lie he didn't feel to bad about it. The girl was in better shape then Harper. '" we there yet?"

Daniel winced at Ayumi’s remark but kept quiet, turning his attention back to the road. There was no other option for him anyway, he’d been extremely weak and Harper was as well. He sighed,”Yeah, a couple more miles and we’ll be there.” he replied, switching on the radio and fidgeting with the stations. The only one that came in was a static-y country music station. Harper gave a groan of disgust, signaling for the boy to turn it off. The rest of the drive was made in silence before they finally reached the motel.

Harper gave a sigh of relief when she saw the tacky neon sign in the distance. “Oh thank goodness, I’ve never been more excited to sleep in a motel bed in my life,” she said as Daniel pulled into the parking lot. “Me and Ayumi will get our rooms, we’ll be right back,” he said as he parked, giving Ayumi a small nudge before getting out. He waited for Ayumi to get out before taking her hand,”I’m sorry that idiot drank from you,” he whispered to her,”Don’t think I’m not angry. Trust me, he won’t do it again,” he said sternly. “Now, let’s get these rooms so we can sleep,” he gave a grin before entering the motel’s lobby.

It was small, and an elderly woman sat behind the front desk. “Ah, welcome. How many rooms you need?” she asked,”Ah, silly me. One room, right? You two are a cute couple,” she said with a wink. Daniel gave a nervous laugh,” N-no ma’am, we need two. Thanks, though,” he said as his face flushed red. He shot Ayumi an embarrassed look as the lady searched around for the keys to each room. Daniel told the lady how long they’d be staying and gave her the money in exchange for the keys. “Thanks,” he said with a smile,”No need, have a nice night.” she replied with a grin, revealing two sharp canines. Daniel gave another nervous laugh before shuffling outside with Ayumi. He shivered with a disgusted look on his face,”God, she was creepy,” he said.

“Hey, wake up,” said a voice, followed by a set of keys being thrown into her lap. Harper jolted awake and rubbed her eyes,”Took you long enough...” she grumbled, taking the keys. She got out of the car and helped get everyone’s things out of the trunk. When everyone had their things, Daniel locked the car. “We’ll meet back in the morning, alright?” he said,”We can talk about where to go from here tomorrow, let’s just... try to rest, okay?” he said before leading the way to him and Ayumi’s room. Harper watched as he unlocked the door and went in, Ayumi following behind. The girl shivered before unlocking her and Kio’s room, which didn’t.... seem to look that bad.

Harper tossed her bag on a chair before looking around the room, checking under the bed and the bathroom, as well as the ridiculously small closet. No bodies, no mice, and no cockroaches. She then sat on the edge of the bad, exhaustion completely catching up with her, as well as her injuries. Her body was bruised and she had cuts everywhere. She was sure she had a black eye, and her lip was bleeding. She winced as she took off her shoes,” I bet you’re feeling like a million bucks now,” she mumbled to Kio.

As daniel nudged her she grumbled back to consciousness, getting out of the car slowly, clearly unhappy. " it really hurt when he took my blood.and now I'm really tired... " she stated as she held his hand lightly. And just like daniel, she noticed how creepy the lady was. " cant we just... I dunno...sleep in the car? I don't trust this place...like you said, she was creepy "

Quietly he followed Harper when she got out of the car. He also looked around , before looking at her on the bed. " actually if you don't recall , if it's not your blood it doesn't help me much. But I had to do something to regain a little bit of strength so I could help you recover. I needed to be able to give you my blood so you canheal, without having to worry about losing control of myself. " he stated, carefully cuddling up next to her. " what? Your not jealous of her, are you? He mused, teasing her lightly. "

"It'll be alright, okay?" he told her as he shut the door behind them. "She was creepy, but... I don't think she had any bad intentions, like... the waitress," he said. Daniel sat his bags down and looked around the room, it was tacky and a bit outdated, but cozy. He returned his attention to Ayumi, who looked a bit dazed. He knew Kio had taken more than he should've, and that made him angry. He took but never gave anything in return, a spoiled prince with no manners. He gently took her arm and inspected the bite mark, it'd begun healing already but it was still red. He placed a light kiss on it before bringing her into a small hug,"Like I said before, I won't let him do that again," he said with a slight growl.

Harper looked up at him with a confused look,"Wait... I'd have to drink your blood?" she asked,"I... that's... disgusting," she stuck her tongue out. "I don't think I could... do that, but... but if I have to do it to heal you, I guess I'll do it..." she muttered, wincing a little as he cuddled up next to her. The girl gave a short laugh in return of his question, which caused her to wince in pain again. "No, not at all! I doubt she tasted as good, anyway." she laughed,"You need to learn some manners, by the way," she gave him a light shove.

" I dunno daniel.... something still feels off about this place...." she stated with a frown before looking at her arm. " but I guess this is how she knew it was ok to show she was a vampire. Its not exactly hidden...." she spoke with a huff as he inspected her arm. However, despite daniels apologies and regret, she was still angry. The fact he'd let it happen in the first place without even getting her concent first was annoying, plus it had really hurt and kio had taken too much. So she stayed quiet, her gaze lingering on the wall rather than on him.

'" you have to take my blood so you can heal. I'll be fine in a few days. You, on the other hand, need my blood to heal faster. With the shape your in it'd take a few months. " he sighed gently. " to me her blood was rather disgusting because of the bond between you and I. That's not a bad thing though. " he stated before frowning. " I have plenty of manners when i'm in control of myself. You need to understand that while we hold a human form, we're completely different instinctually. When injured severely instead of struggling to survive we start listing for blood. We can't die by anything but a hunter's weapon. Even if a normal blade were to severe our heads from our bodies, we can survive. Once were close enough our head would reattach. Though its not a pleasant experience at all. "

"I know, but it's our only option right now... I'm sorry..." he said with a small frown. Daniel watched her, fully knowing she was still angry. "Hey, just... get changed. You'll feel better once you get some sleep, too," he said, not wanting to keep bringing up the Kio situation. He gave her a kiss on the top of her head and hugged her again before letting her go. He felt oddly possessive over her, which was something he'd never in a vampire with an unmarked human. Maybe it was because of their past? he didn't know. "What can I do to make you feel better?" he asked her after he'd changed, sitting with his legs crisscrossed on the bed.

Harper smiled, "I was only teasing, pretty boy," she said," and... how exactly am I supposed to drink your... blood? Are you going to gove it to me in a cup, or do it the good ol’ fashioned vampire way, somehow,” she gave a small laugh. The thought of it made her a bit sick to her stomach, and the coppery smell of blood wasn’t her favorite. But, if it’d heal her faster than usual she had to push through it. The girl looked at Kio in surprise,”You guys can survive with your heads detached?” she said before bursting out laughing. It was funny but terrifying at the same time. “Say, before you give me your blood...” she stopped, the words sounding weird coming from her. “I’m... sorry for putting myself in so much danger back there, I... got so angry at your brother and... I think I was delirious from blood loss. But, in all honesty, I was terrified, there was so much that could’ve gone wrong...” she said, slowly sitting up before taking the knife out of her pocket and placing it on the TV stand.

She sighed, grabbing a modest nightgown from her luggage. " yeah, alright. " was all she said before she went to the bathroom to change. Afterwards she walked over to the bed curling up beneath the blankets quietly. " i... dont know. " her words were honest, she honestly didn't know if there was anything he could do.


Kio
" hey, you try spending an hour with your head detached. " he said with a fake pout. " however, that was rather foolish of you. Brave, but foolish. Your saving grace is that you caught him off guard. Even if your good with a knife, you were outnumbered, even with daniel there. " he said with a frown, before he stood up, following her. " and to answer your earlier question-" he purred, wrapping an arm around her waist. " this is how." He smiled as he bit into his own wrist, kissing her afterwards.

Daniel frowned as he watched her crawl into bed, feeling somewhat helpless. He didn't like seeing her this way, even when they were kids he tried his best to cheer her up. He crawled into bed after her and laid an arm over her, pulling her to his chest. "You know, I've been remembering more from the past..." he said softly, "Like one time, we were playing together at your house, in the backyard. You had found a nest of baby rabbits and were begging your parents to keep them," he smiled and gave a small laugh, "You even gave them names, and you were so sad when we had to put them back." he brushed his hand gently through her hair, "Have you remembered anything else?" he asked.

Harper smiled slightly, "Yeah, but remember, danger's my middle name," she said with a slightly sarcastic tone. She jumped slightly when she felt an arm snake around her waist before she was face to face with Kio. She watched as he bit into his own wrist, which made her stomach twist a little. Before she had time to say anything in return, Kio's lips met hers, tasting of copper. Her eyes went wide, and after what seemed like an eternity, she pulled away. She could feel the heat radiating from her face, "I... w-was... that the only w-way you could do it?" she stammered, visibly flustered.

While he spoke she stayed quiet, but over time the slightest of smirks formed on her face. '' that's a cute story...." then she heard his question and immediately frowned again. " i... haven't remembered anything more..."

He smiled victoriously, a hint of mischief in his eyes. " hmm... well, no. I suppose I could've mixed in with a beverage or something, or just held my wrist to your mouth, but..." he paused, leaning in to whisper in her ear. " I figured that way was the easiest. Besides, from what I could tell you enjoyed the kiss. I could hear your heartrate pick up." He whispered, still smirking.

“Mm... I’m sure you’ll have stuff come back to you soon, I just recently remembered that memory...” He said with a small yawn. He nuzzled the back of her neck,”We should sleep, but I don’t want you going to sleep unhappy.” he said with a small sigh. They had a big day tomorrow, driving and trying to find new places to live, but he hated having another vampire around. He didn’t want to think about how he treated Harper... Of course, she could probably handle him though.

Harper didn’t respond immediately, she just looked at anything but Kio. “I think you just wanted to kiss me, am I right?” she asked as she forced herself to meet his gaze, some of her confidence returning. “You don’t know that, either. Y-you scared me...” she watched him suspiciously,”I’m right about the kiss though, you’ve been wanting it since you started falling for me, right?” she asked with a raised eyebrow.
