Having just finished her milk, Ayumi was on her way to bed- until she heard a noise. Loud thumping against a nearby window. Cautiously going to the window and peeking through the shades, she screamed. Outside was the guy from the diner, with glowing red eyes and fangs, obviously annoyed with something. She backed up against a wall, not sure what to do? Maybe..find her phone. it was dead but if she put it on the charger, and turned it on, then she could call the cops? Wait....where was her phone? She had had it when she left the diner...no. It probably fell out of her pocket during the accideent, and she hadn't realized it. Which meant it would still be in the wrecked car. Great, now what would she do? what if that creep got in? as she was trying to figure it out, she heard the shattering of a window in another room. Then she heard movement. Making a break for the front door, she opened it and began running, sprinting away from her house as quick as she could. she didn't get far before she heard the front door of her house slam shut, so she hid beneath a car. Moments later she saw footsteps on the sidewalk. They paused by the car before suddenly just...dissapeared. Waiting a few more moments, she began sprinting again. To where too she didn't know-other than that she couldn't go home. As she ran she kept an eye out for the nearest house with a light on inside. She had been running for a while now- but finally she saw it. a house with a light on. By this point she was out of breath and out of energy. Using what was left of her energy, she ran up to the house, pounding on the door. '''Help! Help-'' the ending was muffled as was the scream that followed, as a hand went over her mouth and an arm around her torso. 'found you' was all the voice spoke.

He woke up no more than an hour after he went to sleep. he didn't want that human girl to be alone. though he had claimed her, it'd be hard to tell it was a claiming rather than a normal feeding until some of the redness went away. She wouldn't neccesarily be safe until then. ah, well. If he could get close enough to where she was, despite the rain, he'd be able to tell. so he'd just have to wander around until he found her house.

The odd feeling had finally consumed him, and just as he was about to leave he heard a faint scream. His eyes widened and he bolted outside just in time to see a vampire, the one from the diner, holding Ayumi. A low growl escaped him as a wave of anger coursed through him. She was just a human, why was he acting this way? She hadn't even known she existed before tonight anyway, so why did he care so much? "Let her go!" he snarled as he strode towards them, taking the vampire by the neck and squeezing hard. He used his free hand to dig into the vampire's other arm, the one around Ayumi's torso, hoping he'd free her and she could get away safely.

Harper tossed and turned for most of the night until she finally gave up. She sat up in bed and ran a hand through her hair, which was a tangled mess. She'd had a couple nightmares, which had never happened to her before. She was the tough girl, the one who stared unflinchingly into the eyes of danger. Danger was her middle name! Why was figuring out vampires were real so terrifying to her? She groaned and ran a hand over the bite mark on her neck, praying that it wouldn't bruise. She then looked around her room suspiciously, she swore she could feel eyes on her. The girl got up and stretched before going to one out of the four windows in her room and looking out, squinting into the darkness. A flash of lightning surprised her and caused her to jump back, but she caught a glimpse of something before she did. It looked like a person, but she wasn't sure. Her paranoia was most likely causing her to see things. Harper rubbed her eyes and sighed loudly, "What tha hell's wrong with me..." she drawled, crawling on all fours back to her bed.

At this point she was too tired to run anymore, no energy left to fight back. Sadly she had begun to give in to whatever fate awaited her. Just as the vampire prepared to bite into her neck, the door opened, startling the vampire. As its neck was squeezed, as well as his arm, he snarled, dropping ayumi, but not without 'accidently'' scratching her arm with his claws. Angrily shoving daniel away from him, the vampire raised his hand to his mouth and licked away the few droplets of blood on his claws. '' Back off sunshine, this ones mine.'' it snarled unhappily. Ayumi, meanwhile, managed to wearily run to the corner of the block, but ended up sitting down against the side of the building just around the corner, drenched, tired, and scared.

It took quite a while, but eventually he thought he had found her scent. Though the rain made it extremely feint, he had a feeling he was in the right place. Looking up at the house, he saw movement in one of the windows, and a glimpse of what he assumed was harper's face. Looking around, he found a tree somewhat close to the window, and climbed it, watching the window carefully.

Harper climbed back into bed and yawned, then faced the window. She squinted hard through the dark as something moved amongst the tree's branches. "What the..." she began just as another flash of lightning lit up the sky, revealing... the silhouette of a person in the tree. Her breath caught in her throat and she stared, too paralyzed to even move or speak. How could she be so sure it was a person? It could be her eyes just playing tricks on her. What was she scared of anyways, Kio had said... she was basically his, his livestock. That most likely meant if anyone tried messing with her, he'd keep them from doing so. A grin stretched across her face and she got up, making her way confidently to the window and drawing back the curtains, feeling invincible. She wasn't expecting Kio to be there though, staring back at her from the tree branch. The grin turned into an angry frown and she opened the window a crack,"Wh.. What. Why are you here?" she hissed.

Daniel bared his teeth at the vampire before he ran off,"No she's not!" he growled after him, unaware of what he'd done. His expression quickly changed into a look of concern as he looked for Ayumi. He followed her scent down the block,"H-hey." his voice cracked, revealing how worn down he was. He sat down across from her, wincing as he sat in a puddle. He cursed and sat up on his haunches, "Are... Are you okay? He didn't hurt you did he?" he asked gently, scared of what she was going to do next. He just wanted to help her, but he didn't know how.

She jumped as she heard footsteps approaching. she jumped slightly, but without enough energy to flee had she been in danger. Looking up as the figure approached her, she realized it was daniel. The guy from earlier. Cautiously watching him while holding her slightly bleeding arm, she listened to him. There were a few moments of awkward silence, before she suddenly leaned torwards him, burying her face in the crook of his neck, shaking. There was just something about him that seemed safe, and familar, but also dangerous. Yet at the moment she didn't care.

'' Simple, really. i was worried about you....until the redness goes away a bit, it'll be hard for the others to tell they're claiming marks. I just...wanted to make sure nobody hurt you...honestly, i'm surprising you made it around as long as you did without getting marked. Impressive, to be completely honest. Your interest...not like the other humans.''

Daniel was a bit surprised to say the least. He definitely wasn't expecting this one bit, but he didn't mind. He understood how she felt. He rested his knees on the wet ground and wrapped his arms around her,"It'll be alright, that creep won't mess with you anymore." he mumbled before letting out a sigh. After a few minutes of sitting there, his ankles began to ache and his pants were soaked. "Here, let's go to my place. We're both gonna catch a cold out here." He said, shivering a little as he slowly removed his arms from around her. She looked pitiful and it made him angry, she didn't deserve to be dragged into this. The boy held his hands out to Ayumi and helped her up,"I'll help you tend to your arm too, it looks like it just needs a few bandages." he said softly with a reassuring smile.

Harper sighed and sat on the window sill, shivering a little as a breeze swept through the room. "Thanks for being concerned, I guess..." she trailed off, a little moved. Well, at least he cared about her, but she was only a food source to him. She needed to remember that. "What'll the marks look like? I don't want my mother giving me another lecture about getting into fights and how a 'pretty girl like myself shouldn't have battle scars!'." she said, using her fingers to make air quotes and rolling her eyes. The girl then gave a laugh, "I bet they were too scared, I can defend myself better than most." she said, grinning. She'd never been approached by a vampire before Kio, which was surprising to her now knowing they existed and she most likely could've been killed at any moment. "Why am I so different?" she asked, drawing her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around them.

The entire time he was speaking, she didn't say a word. As he stood up she simply nodded, gingerly standing- though her eyes still kept a close watch on the shadows, fearful that other guy would return, even if daniel said he wouldn't. Once standing, she clutched tightly to his arm, walking cautiously by his side. Meanwhile, in the shadows, the other vampire watched in silence. ''That's what he thinks.. everyone knows a bare human is fair game.'' he mumbled quietly to himself.

''eh. they'll just look like any other scars. only hunters and other vampires will be able to recognise them for what they are.'' he spoke, moving forward on the tree branch a bit, to be closer to the window. ''Most changelings would likely be afraid to approach you, they usually avoid conflict with what they used to be. Some halflings might be afraid as well. However, most halflings and purebloods would find you more of a nuisance than be afraid. ''' frowning, he watching as she questioned why she was different. ''that's just the way some people are. no vampire or human are the same. Some humans are the way they are because they are meant to do. Then a select few were born to become vampires. I happen to know a guy like that....he's a good person. '''

Daniel could sense the presence of the other vampire, but he ignored it. He slowly made it back to his small house with Ayumi, opening the door and locking it behind them. He led her to the couch and helped her sit,"I'll be right back, just sit tight." he said, not caring that he was soaked and cold. His first priority was caring for Ayumi and making sure she was comfortable. He grabbed a first aid kit out of a cabinet in his kitchen as well as a glass of water for her and a wet rag. He returned and sat next to her, opening the first aid kit in his lap and taking out a couple band-aids. "Alright, this may sting a little," he said, gently taking her arm and wiping the blood away with the rag. He then put a bit of neosporin on it followed by the bandaids. "There, all fixed up." he said with a tired smile and handed her the glass of water. "Um, you can sleep here tonight, or you can have my bed and I can sleep on the floor." he said, setting the first aid kit onto the floor. He didn't really want to leave her alone, and he knew she didn't want to be alone. "You can borrow some of my clothes too... until yours get dry at least. They... may be a bit big though."

Harper listened to him speak, resting her chin on her knees. "Good, I don't have a lecture to look forward to." she said with a tired laugh. "And that's nice to know. Will I become... a changeling because you bit me? Or is that not how it works?" she asked, feeling like a bit of an idiot. "I never knew... vampires really existed until you, that's why I sound like such an idiot, asking all these dumb questions and all." she yawned loudly and sighed,"I'm sure that guy is good too, but I can't really form an opinion since I've never met him." Harper rubbed her eyes and yawned again, drawing her legs closer to her chest. After a small moment of silence she spoke,"So, is it true you're weak towards garlic?" she asked, choking back a laugh.

Frowning as he walked away, she curled up, holding her knees as close to her as she could. When he returned, she hesitated to allow him to take her arm. Eventually she did though, wincing slightly at the mild sting. ''...Thank you....for the help...'' she spoke timidly, staying curled up. ''er...it's alright...i'll be fine right here....you keep your bed...besides, i hardly know you...it's weird enough as is...'' closing her eyes, she tucked her head between her knees to avoid the light- her headache was returning, and the bright lights didn't help anything. It also weirded her out, the idea of wearing the clothing of some guy she hardly knows, even if it's just until her clothes dry.

''No, that's not even close to how it works. actually, it is rather complicated, and a long process. It is also dangerous, the first stage, which is the initial changing of human blood cells to vampiric blood cells, and a few other changes. The initiall process begins, when the human has to have almost all of their blood drained- not quite to the brink of death, otherwise there is a good chance the human will die. Then they have to recieve the blood of the vampire turning them. Though it will be instinct to the human to spit it out, so the vampire has to make sure they don't... there's more to it, but i don't feel safe telling a human.... as for weaknessess, that isn't something we normally discuss with anyone below halfling. However, i will tell you a bit. No, we are not weak torwards garlic, and the sun merely makes us mildly tired. However, the very rare few who are inflicted from either birth or changing with the illness we refer to as ' the vampire's curse'' are indeed allergic to garlic, and they can be harmed by the sunlight if exposed for more than a few minutes. ''

Daniel nodded,"Alright." he said simply, picking up the first aid kit and standing. "I'll get you some blankets and pillows real quick." he made his way back into the kitchen and put up the kit, then headed into his bedroom, which was right next to the living room. He dug around and found a couple of blankets and took a pillow off his bed, he also grabbed a pair of sweats and a shirt just in case she changed her mind. "Here you are, I think this should be enough." he said with a small smile,"And the bathroom is over there," motioning to a small hallway leading away from the kitchen. "I'm off to bed now, if you hear anything or need something just let me know." The boy stood there a moment, hesitating. "I'm... sorry this happened to you, and I'm sorry for scaring you." he said, looking anxious. He needed to stop apologizing for stuff he had no control over, it was an old habit of his. "Just... try to sleep, I'll see you in the morning." he muttered, dimming the lights before making his way back to the bedroom. He shut the door a crack behind him before changing out of his soaked clothes, throwing on a pair of dark gray sweats and a plain white t-shirt. He crawled into bed and laid down with a sigh, his body tired and sore.

Harper listened and picked at her nails,"So, you have to basically get killed by a vampire to become one. That sounds... scary." she said, averting her eyes from her hands over to Kio where he sat on the branch. He was only a few feet from her because of the gap between the branches and the window, which should've made her nervous, but it didn't for some reason. She ignored his closeness,"All those movies lied then... but it's nice to know a bit of the truth." she said with a sigh. What bothered her the most about this whole situation was how soft she was being towards this complete stranger, casually asking him questions about his kind. She didn't like it. The girl stared at Kio for a bit before looking down and letting out a loud yawn. "Wellll, I appreciate your concern and I'm thankful for the info, it was really interesting, but I need to sleep now or else I'll be a bigger a-hole than usual tomorrow." She said, her voice cracking a little due to her sleepiness. She got off the window sill and stretched before turning back to Kio,"You don't have to guard me anymore, I'm fine." she said with a lazy smile.
